These two songs were recorded for the Air Force in the early '80s by the "Vocal Majority" chorus from Dallas, now the 13-time International Champion Barbershop Chorus in the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Air Force added the video and they were used at Air Force bases worldwide in base theaters at the beginning of each showing of a movie. TV stations across the country picked them up to use as the "sign-off" at the end of the broadcasting day. Today, the chorus still sings "The National Anthem", only with a slightly different arrangement and interpretation. The arrangements were done by Jim Clancy, our longtime director (40 years!) and now the Executive Director. His son Greg now directs the chorus.
This is my favorite version of our national anthem. Never have I heard it better. Thank you for having this online I'm going to play this anytime anyone says anything about my country, my flag, and my rights! I love America!!!! USA!!!! USA!!!! USA!!!!
Thanks for posting 👍🏼👍🏼🤗. I remember this sign off as a kid in the 80s. I finally went to visit Mt Roushmore this month and I had a flashback of the F 16 sign off on tv 📺👍🏼. Good memories!
I remember watching both of these videos in Arnold Hall at the Academy in the early 1990s. The Academy Staff did a good job of keeping cadets focused on and dreaming about where we were headed during what seemed like four interminable years. The beauty of the Air Force Hymn coupled with aircraft stayed in my memory for over two decades, and years ago prompted me to look it up on UA-cam. I keep the lyrics to the Air Force Hymn by Mary Hamilton on the wall. USAFA graduate and F-16 pilot
Star-Spangled Banner (0:08) : O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there; O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? (America! My home!) Lord, Guard and Guide the Men Who Fly (1:57) : Lord, guard and guide the men who fly, Through the great spaces of the sky; Be with them traversing the air In darkening storms or sunshine fair Aloft in solitudes of space, Uphold them with Thy saving grace. O God, protect the men who fly Thru lonely ways beneath the sky.
This alone shows how far we've moved ourselves from wholesomeness and honor. Honor, being the most important one. Our country has fallen and I don't think we can bring it back. Salute.

I like how the camera shows the plane appearing to be dead upright in the first video when it’s actually in a 30 degree banking turn. Sweet camera work!
+NEPatriot, I accidentally removed your comment. I meant to reply to it and tapped the wrong thing. Sorry. We did the Anthem at sign off, and the Hymn at sign on.

I give "full, total respect" to every single citizen in the military. Listening to the Air Force Hymn allows me to reflect to those in the Air Force. May God continue to protect those who fly, and may God continue to bless them as well.
The first sign off message is used a lot in EAS Scenarios, wether it be the end of the world, the end of America, or if a tragedy hits America that’s bad enough to change the lives of its citizens.
I think this is the highest quality version of the Aim High America SSB out there on UA-cam.

Gus Polly, I remember WTAE-TV and WPGH-TV (both in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) using the Aim High SSB film.
So glad that I found this by accident. My dad had a cousin who was in the Air Force.
EAS creators: It’s free real estate
A fun fact about this SSB: It was used before screening in USAF movie theaters, just like in India.
Love this rendition of this hymn, Just wish I could find the recording. Just love it !!!
Been looking for about 2 hours... nothing from the vocal majority... its like it disappeared
The Air Force hymn 1983 film was used by WTVD (Durham, North Carolina).
