A fun video to end the mine season on, I hope you still do repair and maintenance videos I loved those last year. If anyone questions if you’re a true miner, this should end that. It’s leaking, so put a stick in it. And then then throw away more gold to clean out your pan than most of us find in a good weekend 😂😂😂😂😂. Thanks for sharing Tyler
Thanks Jeff! Yes I have a lot planned this winter for build videos again. I am back into my regular uploads again so there won't be a big gap in time anymore. This season was so busy!!!
Yes not to bad on the metetial we were running!! I wish I showed the tailings test when we ran the clay meterial mid summer. That test didnt go to well and found a lot more...
@TheMiningChannel I bet, it's extremely difficult to get the clay to break down and let go of the gold. Sure would love to check out your place sometime. Can't think of any other job that I would do for free, just to be able to work a few days on a mine. Maybe high bank a little ✌️✌️✌️ great video brother!
Always goid to check the tailings so you can find tine your plant. Keep the videos coming 👍 im back up in the mountains looking for more while the weather lets me
@@TheMiningChannel we've had a very light dusting of snow on the tops that hasn't lasted and temperature dipping below 0c last few nights but nothing too bad
About 15 years ago i bought Freds set up similar to yours with the le trap, loved it. Sold it, cus i moved to fort st john where there is little to no gold. Then found where i could buy the new le trap sluice, but shorter and more money. Built another high banker to play on bosses claim on lightning creek which was sold last year unfortunately. Sold that high banker and said enough. On the last day at lightning creek i paid the mining shop a visit as i always do and she had an old le trap sluice for $75, SOLD. Now im building a new high banker. Looking for a claim of my own to play on. Cant seem to get this stuff out of my system. Just stumbled on to your channel and am enjoying it so much. I am a fabricator and have built a few trommels for work.
1st timer here, glad I found your channel, was watching you with Dan Hurd, my wife and myself are going to start gold mining this year while camping. Can't wait to get started, still have to get a high banker and other stuff.
Thanks Sunshiner!! Welcome to the channel. Good luck out in the bush and I hope you get some great gold:) The wintet up here is really mild this year, a person could be still prospecting!!!
@@TheMiningChannel absolutely awesome to hear Tyler!! That’s all that matters! Hope you n your family have a great winter! I was just up in likely lol I will definitely track you down next summer! Looking at some land in the omineca.;)
Happy for a good season, and great videos for both you and us watching. Excited to see what your doing for videos and builds/maintenance this winter. Did they catch the "blankers" that busted up your stuff? This flatlander wants to know! lol Peace from Nebraska.
Thanks Manjisai! I will be doing a bunch of build videos this winter, as for the thieves I have no real update... still looking into the people who I think it is.... I dont have enough evidence to walk up and break their fingers hahha.
@@TheMiningChannel I hope you see this. I missed you this spring, I really hope everything has just been to crazy for any time to video. Best wishes and thoughts for you and yours. Peace!
I know perhaps some tool & die shops in windsor ont would love to have that classifier to copy! And your right about thr larger rocks, which ppl tend to toss, which might have gokd nuggets! I also noticed a lot of white coloured gravels in your tailings! Could it be quartz? It'd be interesting to see how much more gold or other precious metals you'd get if it went through a crusher! Do do assays on your tailings?
Thanks HSQ! I think I will just be doing a few smaller builds, I am currently building another room for the little baby coming in the next few months:)
A busy season means great gold hopefully… and it looks like your setup is perfect for the size of gold your mining by the lack of gold in the tailings. Except the clay stuff which is super hard to keep gold from being grabbed out of the sluice as you mentioned. If the gold was super good in the clay would running the tailings again help catch it? Or not worth the fuel and time.. looking forward to an end of season total short vid?? Did you get 200 ounces or more? And was it 4 months for the season? And how many seasons will you have left at that site? Thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼
Hey 48th. I believe running the tailings from the clay would actually justify the loss!! That meterial was a mix of decent pay and decomposed organics from the previous miners, thete isnt a lot of that meterial but enough to not throw it away. I do have a final cleanout videos coming out around xmas:) We only got 2.5 months at this site as Inwas prospecting and started mining at the site across the valley. Also lost a lot of time dealing with doctors and the new baby.
@@TheMiningChannel good to know about the clay hope the doctor thing isn’t serious and congrats on the baby boy or girl? Looking forward to the clean up vid stay safe 👍🏼👊🏼
I have a curiosity question By not adding, say, 1 to 2 or Maybe 3 foot onto your length of your Sluice run , with that not capture that two percent that you're losing in fine tailings ? Or by adding a different rifflestyle on the end of the sluice Or would it be even worth it
Adding some extra length of sluice would help catching some.... but not all the gold coming off the end of the sluice. The time and costs to do it would pay for itself in a year most likely then gain profit after that. There is a fine line in "is it worth it" to have to clean out the extra box. Would be interesting though to add some more and do another test.
I'm curious about the specifications of your washplant. How wide is the sluice and how many gpm are you running? The drum is 36" diameter right? How long is the scrubber section, and the screen section? And how many yards per hour are you running? I apologize for all the questions hahaha! I'm working up a design for my own trommel. I'm figuring 30yph would be perfect for me. Looks like your gold recovery is +99%!😎 Great job!
Hey Marc! The fine gold sluice is 6 feet wide and is classified at 1/2. The nugget sluice is 12 inches wide and classified to 1.5". The barrel is a 4 foot diameter and has 10 feet of scrub section, 6 feet of 1/2 screen and 4 feet of nugget screen. Gpm is unknown as my pump only has a digital rpm meter and I have never calculated the gpm. The pump is a 8" in and 6" out ( I have had a 6 inch pump running it no problem. As for yardage it depends on meterial, the stuff we are in is really sandy so I lower the YPH down to 40-50. I have had it up to 60 in creek meterial If your aiming for 30 yph, a 3 foot diameter barrel with a 4 foot wide box would do great. I have a build video on my channel from last winter on one. Thanks for watching:)
I do agree. If I was on a area with finer gold I would ne loosing a lot more. I may try throwing one of my 16 foot boxes in behind thus one next year and do a test.
@@TheMiningChannel you know that more than me buddy :p but i would want even the smaller pieces :) and you got a video building it or more profit everywhere :)
We do get finer gold in this area but people just wanted to see what kind of losses we get in a video. At 10:22, that was just sarcasm that we don't get fine gold. As for course tailings the 1.5" and above, I do have another video coming out on that al though the gold around this area is not that big..

Tailings, the most boring stuff but a very important topic! Well done mate and thanks for sharing 👍

Always amazes me with the speed of the water over the box the fine stuff doesn't get washed down

if that place is constantly getting water wouldnt the gold settle deeper and not just on the surface?
