I’m rebuilding my late husband‘s 95 Chevy Silverado, I’m 61. Needed a new fuel pump and I refused to pay $1200 in labor. I built my own truck bed hoist out of old 4 x 4‘s and a chain hoist (gas tank was full). Lifted the bed , start a replacing the fuel pump and noticed the tank was full of rest. So I ended up draining the fuel and dropping the tank.
Learned not to crush the new tank from your video! Didn’t even know that was a possibility, but thank you.
Ended up in the hospital with a blood clot in my leg so two months later I had to come back to your awesome informative video to refresh my memory on which fuel line went where. Once again, thank you for taking the time you have no idea how helpful you’ve been to me.
I have to have the truck to haul the firewood I cut otherwise I’ll freeze in this Georgia cabin.
Your husband would be proud of you. This is really nice that you do this!
The newer Fuel Pumps all come with GT280 connector. Companies do this to replace the existing Metri-Pack 150 connector, which has developed a reputation to be unreliable. In the process they are giving you a pigtail (little piece of aftermarket harness) that you have connect to the existing wiring harness. This is how most people are doing it and admittingly this is how I have done it as well. BUT there is a better way. More involved, but definitely MUCH, MUCH better. I wish I had thought of it, when I have done mine. OK, so the better way is to MOUNT that GT280 connector to the existing wiring harness VIA GT280 pins. Meaning, you would remove the pins out of the GT280 connector housing that came with your fuel pump (they will be crimped with some wire) and then find the same pins un-crimped AND crimpe those to your existing harness and then reinsert them into the GT280 connector. So in essense this would MOUNT a GT280 connector to your existing harness WITHOUT an aftermaket-crimp-connection in between. You would need a special crimp tool for the GT280 connector. But wow, if you would do it this way, this would really be THE most professional way to do this. I probably writing about it this much for remorse. But hey, also I like to help and I find your story very touching and in a way heart warming. My best wishes to you. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
Most informative easy to understand how-to videos I have ever watched. Thank you so much for making them. I am in the middle of raising the bed on my '93 Gmc Sierra 1500 xc to replace a faulty fuel pump. I can't imagine myself without a truck. I bought my first wife's father's '69 Chevy for $800 in 1972 and drove it for 11 1/2 years putting 129k miles on it then sold it for $800. That's cheap transportation! Old Chevys and GMC trucks die hard.
Great content. Inherited my grandfather’s 97’ chevy k1500 long bed and these videos will be great for giving it the love it deserves!
Great videos! 👍
About ready to pull the bed and do this too! Thanks for all your effort, it's been helping me restore my father's 91 obs! Hoping we can get it done in time for the power tour this year!
Keep the vids coming!
Hey man! Just wanted to say thank you. Found you looking for the stearing column rebuild on my 93 fullsize Blazer. It's so hard to find info and videos on the 90s models thanks for you're content! Keep up the great work!
Very helpful video. I've never replaced a tank before and this made it very easy.
This channel just got recommended to me and I’m glad it did!!!
Good job, now you have me paranoid if I overtightened my straps. Lol! Good video 👍 Truck's coming along nice!
Just found your channel. You do some really meticulous work. Subscribed just for that alone already (and for more). Can't wait to see this truck in service again.
I have a 1999 Tahoe 4x4. I had it since 2000. Daily driver for almost 20 years, last 3 years in the garage and just for the occasional joyride or moving it a bit to maintain. Always garaged though, even at my workplace. It is as nice as it can be, for a daily driver with great care. Other than the 3x warranty jobs during its infancy, I am the only one who is working on it. It has a detailed logbook with every repair that I have ever done, including every part every used as well as my side notes and observations. Not selling though. 😉
I did enjoy the video, I have a 94 k2500 that I have to replace the tank due to leaking from the seam
That truck is awesome
Sorry about that.. found it... thanks for the video... great job....
Thank you very much
I appreciate the videos you make it helps out a lot but how do I look up part number like what website do I use?

Awesome. I ended up not taking the bed off . Dropped the tank. Pain in the butt. I think I'm going remove the bed for the installation. Hey I really like that paint. I wanna do the same thing. What kind of paint is that? Anyway thanks this is a helpful channel
@ryan bentley It’s Rustoleum primer and paint
What product did y'all use on the frame? Looks great.
@Micah Wells Rustoleum primer and paint
Love your videos. While rebuilding front end, the project was delayed and my torsion bars were mixed up. How to tell passenger side from the drivers side?
@Steve Dudley Check out our front end video at 37 mins. ua-cam.com/video/VQ6Y5VoUQBw/v-deo.html
Whoa...I have a 93 suburban..
Did y’all make a video of cleaning/ painting the frame?
@Esai Garcia Sorry, we didn’t make a video on that. Didn’t want to make you watch paint dry ha.

by the last person to install the tank
Hey I have a question not related to this particular video but I have the exact same truck, I was wondering if I can use the aftermarket shifter linkage rod for it to shift on the column?
@ROAD2RICHZ$$_Q I’m not sure about the aftermarket shift rod
I have a question, I have a 1998 Chevy Cheyenne K1500 single cab and I was wondering if the frame bolted together or is it welded. I need to rather replace the rear frame or weld in new pieces any help would be appreciated.
@Phillip Arthur You are going to have to weld in new pieces unless you want to replace the entire frame.
Do you have a link for your tank...I can't find it on your page
did install the pump hat
What size are the straps? 1996 Chevrolet C1500 5.0
it sure would be
even though it was crushed
what kind of paint do you use on the frame?
@svtdan Rustoleum primer and paint
if you could only
I have no idea where this guy is coming from. I have seen several videos on how to replace the fuel tank on a 97 Chevy truck with a 8 ft and I have done it myself. You do not need to take off the bed!
You don’t need to remove the bed. We had the bed off to paint the frame
@@SuburbanRanch my bad then. The frame looks really good.
hit that 150
What did you use to paint the frame?
@Srgto Perez Rustoleum primer and paint
@@SuburbanRanch ah ok I just bought the krylon primer and paint so its similar to the rustoleum

Right off the bat a washer falls into the old tank and why aren't you protecting the inlets to keep debris out and that fuel pump strainer is dirty enough to replace. Why risk it.the grounds and electrical connections are important and should be mentioned.at least you wore gloves
sucks to see "the previous owner"

Nice content. We want to invite you to test our Chevy lights(compatible with 1999-2002 Silverado, 2000-2006 Tahoe&Suburban). May I have your email?
@Honwan Cheung Our truck is a 1990. Do you make headlights for that year?
@@SuburbanRanch No, we don't have that year for now
