I was literally like that... When I saw the trailer i thought it was a movie but when I saw season 1 I was like "I ain't watching this" but then a friend convince and I already watch it ... TWICE
Honestly I first saw Julie in the first episode I was instantly like "this is cringy ugh" but I kept watching and it became one of my favorite shows
My sister says it looks tacky and childish, I suppose she thinks that if a show or movie is directed towards kids, then it isn’t gonna appeal to her.
This very same girl watches Riverdale unironically.

FUN FACT The band and Julie can actually sing and play all the instruments shown. They made an actual band for this, bc they wanted authenticity. God, I cant wait to see you react to the later songs.

People saying it’s weird for them to be attracted to 16 year olds. Chronologically, the boys are 42. But mentally and physically (so to speak) they’re still 17. For us it’s been 25 years. But for them it’s only been a few hours.
Think of it like they just woke up from cryostasis.
The actors themselves are also 20/23 and most 14 year Olds nowadays are also attracted to 50+ people so they shouldn't say anything
Yeah, the way i think about it is that the boys basically jumped forward 25 years (like time travel, they never properly explained it so it could be) so the boys are still 17. Idk if they will always be, maybe they will start ageing mentally and emotionally now even if they will always physically be 17!
I think of it similar to Aang and Katara from ATLA. Aang is 112 technically, but mentally and physically he's just 12, and Katara was 14.

Fun fact: in an interview the boys said when filming the scene where Julie was singing everyone was crying because they were amazed by madi’s (the girl who plays Julie) voice

My favourite character is Alex. Not only is he really funny but he's also relatable. My favorite part of the show is the gay representation (which technically starts next episode but actually starts in episode 3). They just handle it so well and so casually while still allowing it to be important to the characters and the story overall.
Totally agree with the boys' dynamics being great. I think the fact that the whole cast did a music boot camp prior to filming also contributed to it.

I love all the boys. Alex is my child. Reggie is hilarious. Luke is a puppy. They’re all amazing. But my favorite character is Julie, hands down. She’s just The. Best. (And she’s the boys’ favorite as well. Like, they would literally go to the bottom of the ocean to get the purest form of rock salt if she asked for seasoning on her omelet. And honestly, mood because I would too).

Not a lot of people see this but when the boys are on the couch outside eating hot dogs before they die there is a missing persons poster behind luke's head and it is a missing persons sign for luke.
My favorite has to be Alex, he's the funnies one but at the same time he can be serious when he needs to. You can see more of his back story as the show goes and everything about his character feels so real, I love it

Side note: Charlie Gilespie and Madison Reyes, the actor and actress who play Luke and Julie, wrote a song together and it's featured in epi. 7...it's 🔥!
The girl that played Julie is named Maddison Reyes and this was her first show

I’d love to see you react to the whole series! Please post the episode highlights on youtube! It’s one of those kids’ shows that sneaks up on you because it is really good quality: the guys have great comedic timing, the actors are all musicians too and super talented and the music is catchy. And there’s some emotional moments later in the show too that help add depth to the characters.

Julie could play and sing that song without practice because she was sight-reading, which is what musicians are taught to do. It's when you play and/or sing through a piece of music without ever having seen it before. Now, the proficiency at which she was performing it was over-exaggerated, but essentially the musician would look over it for a couple of minutes, looking for certain rhythms, accidentals, the key, the time signature, etc...and then they would perform it, going as far as they can without stopping.
Alex owns my life, but honestly the other boys aren't that far behind!
FUN FACT: the song perfect harmony was NOT originally in the series. Charlie and Madison wrote it themselves and brought it to the director and asked for it to be included!

I had similar feelings when I first watched the show: like it had some Disney channel moments but then the sense of humour was so good and the comedy so well done that I warmed up to the characters so quickly. And then Julie sang Wake Up and I cried and I binged the rest of the show twice in a row.
The girl in the beginning Of the episode is Julie's mom, and this is the only thing that we know her (mistery)

I found this show at the start of October and I've been rewatching it ever since lol
I love them all, it’s hard to pick a fave. Their chemistry between the four of them is incredible. The chemistry between Julie and Luke on particular is just gorgeous to watch. The show is all round wonderful, very wholesome and uplifting. It’s the perfect comfort watch for 2020.
Alex is my favorite. I couldn't pin point the actual reason until you compared him to Stiles and then it was like oh yeah that's my favorite character type
