    Many thanks for taking the time to review the 01 and 01T iron sets - delighted to hear the positive feedback. Please note that the upcharge for custom shaft length and lie is not per club, it's for the set.

    Hey guys. Would really like to see more top line and close up views of the irons aside from the stock pictures. I can imagine what they look like from description when you’re hitting but I feel like a closeup would level up the reviews.

      Agreed, especially when they make the transition from say PW to 7 during the video, show some screengrabs of the 7 from a few different angles.

    Thank you for reviewing these and other DTC irons A They play an important place in the ecosystems. That said, I'm with Ian when he said "my clubs feel $1,000 better." One of the joys/curses of the game is that as you get better you can really notice a difference in quality/feel of equipment. Irons like there help expand the gateway to golf and likely more people on the doorstep of quality fitters in the future.

    Currently Playing and trying the 01T, I am category 1 player and they feel very good and bring some good forgiveness. Of course you will have less playability than a blade or forged irons but for the price, congrats Caley 👏🏻👏🏻

    Petitioning for you guys to review Maltby irons 😁
    Would you guys be opposed to purchasing a few heads from Maltby to showcase? They won't send anything out to you guys because they don't think they need any hype so it's not in their marketing model. Maltby is truly the original DTC with original designs and pedigree that nobody on UA-cam will ever get to hear of. Their 2023 lineup is as good or better than any OEM and IMO leaves these other DTC's in the dust with performance, build quality, and aesthetics. Similar price points for base setups, and much more customization available due to their parent company Golfworks.

      I built a set of TS1 IM and TS4 combos and absolutely love them. My only gripe is that they are fairly soft and show bag chatter quite quickly. However, at the price point, replacing club heads every so often is so much cheaper than purchasing new clubs altogether.

    • @starwf07
      @starwf07 8 місяців тому +3

      Agreed. The whole Maltby line looks very cool. Would be cool to see a review on those.

    • @AZstu324
      @AZstu324 8 місяців тому +2

      @@jeremygricar4361I'm sure you know this but unfortunately bag chatter is something that can't be avoided with soft forged clubs like these. The same would be said for a set of Miuras or Mizuno's. The upside is that they're doing true forged clubs and are using their own forging dyes with milled faces and soles while still charging DTC prices. I currently game the TS4's, previously TS-1's, and have built KE4 MAX and TS3 sets for friends. They are not a 1 trick pony brand and truly have something for everyone. Serious design and tech goes into each model and there's actually some innovation and not just "borrowed" concepts or designs. It's a shame that most people on the surface of the DTC world will never get to hear about Maltby.

      I agree with you sir. I am playing TE Forged right now and they are great as ever, plenty of forgiveness but a great look at address. Moving to TS1 IM in long irons for forgiveness and TS4 for short and mid irons. I think it is a shame TXG does not review because I think Ian and Michael would enjoy those clubs and the looks. More in house development than just going to a factory in China and using the same design.

    Seems like a very different result to previous videos that focus on Takomo 101 and 101T - which appear to be identical clubs but not same tech. Maybe a comparison of those or a DTC showdown is in order. Could create alot of value for viewers. Thanks for the work.

  • @MattSwanson
    @MattSwanson 8 місяців тому +4

    I play the 01T's, having had the chance to review them for MyGolfSpy's forum test this past year. I've managed to not only shoot my best round ever, but back-to-back rounds breaking 80 (which I'd never done before), which was pretty incredible. The turf interaction with these is MILES better than my previous "gamers" (2020 TaylorMade Sim Max), and though considerably more compact, they still offer a pretty incredible amount of forgiveness. I have them in the KBS Tour Lite Stiff shafts (previous shaft being the Nippon 105's in Stiff), and absolutely love the feel. I haven't had much of an issue with the PW, for what it's worth - I typically play that to 135 with no issue, so it's curious Ian didn't get along with it, as he's a considerably better ball-striker than I am (duh).
    I'm super curious to see what the 01CB's bring, especially as they're a true forging.
    Love the content!

    3:15 - Wish I could agree on the KBS Tour 😕 Got them in a new set of Mizuno JPX 923 Tours at 7 iron swing speed of ~100 mph and I absolutely hate them lol. So much weight in the butt of the shaft I can't even feel the club face.
    Hopefully going to work my way into some KBS C-Tapers for a stiffer feel later this year.

    They’re literally the exact same clubs as Takomo’s. Not saying that’s a bad thing. You can set up your own golf brand for $2000-$3000 because of minimum quantity. Xiamen Jasde Sports Equipment is the manufacturer. I’ve played the Takomo 101T’s, I liked them

      My understanding is that these will not be reviewed, based on some conversations from the Maltby forums. Shame, as they're one of the only DTC companies genuinely designing their own heads (vs. buying pre-made from another company as is often the case). I'd love to be wrong about this, though :)
