ETHOS Suite 1.4 - What's new & how to use it

In this video we take a look at the new version 1.4 of ETHOS Suite. This new version adds a great feature to be able to back up your models from the transmitter. Plus there is a nice hint of what's to come in the future.
Also we take a look at the Audio and Image Tools, and see how they work.

Yesterday Frsky officially released version 1.4.3 of Ethos Suite
Unfortunately they still haven't fixed the long file name problem for the images, but the audio tool is a nice feature.
Already used it to make a complete soundpack and systemsounds using the Aria online voice from the free text to speach converter you suggested in one of your previous video's.
I used the Amber soundpack before, but I got annoyed by the difference in voice between my custom audio-files and the system files.
Now all my audio-files are in the same nice voice, plus I added a few custom ones for myself :)
Thanks for uploading these tutorials btw.
They have been incredibly helpfull getting to know these radio's.
Especially because there's not a whole lot of good content about these radio's on UA-cam.

No problem. I have raised the issues and suggestions from this video on the ETHOS Feedback Community. A developer have already assigned themselves to it. So hopefully we will see some of this addressed in upcoming updates.
OMG that's way over my head. I need a short cut that says, You want plane pics heres the down load button and so on for beeps and music hahaha Sheeeesh I need a guy.

There is no instant trim in ETHOS yet.
Hello Sir! thank you for all your help. I just updated from 1.4 to 1.4.6 and now all my Temp sensor on my models give me a reading ESC 43 and motor 44. when flying the temp goes up 2 or 3 degrees at the most. Didn't know anybody else has ran into on this before. Also in the Telemetry shows range 15. to 643 max this is new too. Thank you for all your help if possible

Hi Darren, where I could download the different Beeps files you presented in this video? same as you, I'm also missing the beep sounds from OpenTX

could not resist any longer,so bought a new X18 today,its brillaint,however......problem uploading new model images,all seem to be in PCG format,in my transmitter the free pics in the models folder are BMP...popped on a PNG just as a test,transmitter sees it...but is blank pic on the screen...do I need to do something to the transmitter...do I need to convert images to BMP...or something else so I can get some descent pics for my model setups...apart from this niggle its a great bit of kit
At the moment, they need to be converted to BMPs. ETHOS Suite should be able to do this for you. I have raised an issue in the Feedback Community. So hopefully it will get sorted out at some point.
Hi Darren, great video! But how do you download Ethos suite? In my case windows transforms the .exe file into a .crdownload file. Unclear how and with what to approach that. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance. Ron.
Hi Ron. The .crdownload file is a temporary file created by your web browser. Once the file finishes downloading, it will be switched back to the .exe file. Just give it some time to complete 👍🏻
Now it appears WRITE OUTDATE FILES instead of UPDATE on 1.4.8 ETHOS SUITE, is that the same as UPDATE?
why can't edit the models, edit button not work

Maybe off topic. But how to set the six buttons on the bottom to a 6position switch?. I know make 6 mixers...
You would need to make 6 mixers, all outputting to one channel. Each mix you would use MAX as the source and set the active condition to one of the 6 position switches. Each of these mixes would have a different weight. For example:
6-way mix 1: Active Condition: FSW1 | Source: MAX | Weight: -100%
6-way mix 2: Active Condition: FSW2 | Source: MAX | Weight -60%
etc.
Updated to 1.4 but the updated bootloader is EU version - l have FCC here in Oz . Is this ok or have I missed something ? There only seems to be one Btldr.
I have seen that issue raised elsewhere. The official response is that it is fine. The bootloader doesn’t deal with the RF. So long as the firmware is FCC, it will be fine.
Can I restore a X20 backup to a X20s? I have been using an X20 but just purchased an X20s. What is the best way to move everything over?
As far as I know, it should work fine. You should be able to copy the models folder across to the new transmitter’s SD card.
@@MrD would that be the only thing that needs copied over?
If you have custom sounds and model images, they can be copied across too.

Sub trims have been in for a while. Just not instant trim or trim -> subtrim yet.
Yes. Crossfire (ELRS) is now supported, as well as MPM, and Ghost.

@@MrD In my X12 on 1.4.3 FW i only have XJT R9M and PPM in the Exteral Module protocos .. There is NO CRFS protocol ?

Do you prefer your X18 to X20 ?
It's a tough one. The X18 does feel nicer in the hands. But I prefer the bigger screen on the X20 and the rotating gimbals. If I had to pick one. I'd probably go X20. But it is close. I'm flying LOS with the X20S and my quad on the X18. So I'm getting flight time in on both.
@@MrD Cheers Darren, thinking about the x18se I have an X20s but do not use it as it is a bit uncomfortable after my qx7. Good to see your dabbling in the dark side ;) Keep up the good work!!
Funny how you have 36 million planes and one lonely quad, as it should be.
Well, I guess I have 2 quads. But one is a Beta85. So maybe that counts ah half 🤣
