      Which files in particular John? There are standard ETHOS files which are downloaded with ETHOS Suite. The firmware and custom audio files I sourced. The various firmware files are available on frsky-rc.com. The sound files I have made myself (ua-cam.com/video/2AcB_jrFFK4/v-deo.html). Also the model images I have downloaded for the most part. www.skyraccoon.com/icons is a good source of those.

      @@MrD when i updated it doesn't add any files to sd card. The problem is trying get it play sounds . I added amber sounds to flash and sd card the files are there when go special functions an add something there no Options.this is x18

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому

      On the X18, you need to check the system menu, I believe in the general page, to see where it is expecting the sounds files. On the X18, they can be put on the SD Card or NAND storage. They will only appear in the lists if they’re put in the correct place.

      @@MrD I put them everywhere, I just get blank list on sf menu. I give up with radio.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому

      They can only go in 1 of 2 places. Either the SD card Audio folder or the NAND storage Audio folder. The go in audio, not a sub folder within.

    Great videos mate. Doyou have a video of creating model type folders?

    • @MrD

      Thanks, glad you’re enjoying the videos.
      I don’t have a video on creating model folders. To do this, just go in to the model selection screen and click on the little plus to the right of the folders.
      I will add a video to cover this.

    Hi Darren what is the best way to transfer models from one x20 s to another x20s and would I need to remind the models once transferred.
    Regards Tony

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому

      You should just be able to copy the files in the models folder from one transmitter to the other. Personally, I would make sure they are both on the same version of ETHOS, just to avoid any potential issues. Yes, the receivers would need re-registering and binding on the new transmitter.

    Do you still like the Ethos system rather than OpenTX, Darren?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 роки тому +2

      To be honest, I like them both. I kind of have to use both systems. But if I didn’t, choosing which I’d prefer is getting tricky. Especially as LUA will be here soon, and CRSF to follow afterwards.

      @@miksterr totally agree. All pilot feature requests are listened to also, which I find very positive. LUA scripts soon, then hopefully CRSF too. Everything is moving in the right direction.

    Was just curious, if all I am looking to do is make a backup of the card in my radio, is there a quick way of doing this vs all of these steps? I thought at one time OTX users were using a specific backup program to make duplicates of their SD cards.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 роки тому

      You can just copy the whole card. But it would have a lot of duplicated files. What I tend to do is, when I add a new image or sound, also put it in the generic folder. Then I only need to backup the firmware specific stuff.
      To be honest, I did a similar thing with OpenTX. There was a sync thing in companion. But I didn’t really trust it. Not through bad experience. Just that I like to ben in control of whats happening on the transmitter.

    To clear the flash drive if using Apple it is necessary to reformat so it is fully cleared,if not then it looks empty but clicking info shows the drive to be still full.I have now switched to MIcro Soft so mutch easier to follow your excellent easily understood videos.Keep up the good work.

    Help required urgently!! I have ruined my content on my sd card How can I put a totally new Ethos on it, so that I can use my transmitter again, I will of course loose all my models but i don't mind that I just want to start as if the x20s is new. Thank you.

    Having just purchased a X20s running 1.0.11 I notice the latest version is 1.0.19, do I need to download 12 to 18 or can I go straight 1.0.19.

    Man, you lost me on this one.. I've enjoyed your other videos and learned how to update my new X20 and GR8 rx but I'm lost on the backup procedure.. Too complicated

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому

      Hi Darrell. Sorry to hear that. As a very basic backup, you can just copy the whole SD card off, on to your computer.
      Using the method in the video; I’m just reducing the amount of file repetition on the computer. Which will also means less files and folders are needed for version backups.

      @@MrD Thanks, that sounds easier for me. Do I need to do this one folder at a time or is there a way to do it with just a few steps?.. I use windows 10 and not very good with it but I have managed to load 1.0.19, update the flash and SD card as well as the RF module and a new GR8 rx thanks to your videos
