- The Persuaders - Made in 1971 action/adventure series, produced by ITC Entertainment for initial broadcast on ITV and ABC.
The Persuaders titles and synthesiser theme, music by John Barry, establish the background and current identities of the protagonists via split-screen narrative technique: two folders, one red, one blue, labelled Danny Wilde and Brett Sinclair simultaneously narrate their lives. As the biographies approach their current ages, the screen splits diagonally, connoting their excitingly peripatetic lifestyles. The conclusion shows them together enjoying a life of sport, drink, women, and gambling. The titles were specifically designed so that neither actor would appear to have top billing, something both Moore and Curtis stipulated when they agreed to co-star.
CAST:
Tony Curtis as Danny Wilde
Roger Moore as Lord Brett Sinclair - Розваги
I think 46 years on, this is still one of the bet intros to a series EVER. I never tired of watching it. The duality of their lives. Nature versus Nurture and yet they came together. Well fellas, I hope you're both steaming down to Cap Ferrat in the Ferrari tonight. Happy trails xx
Agreed
The greatest TV theme ever recorded.
Those who have put a “thumbs down” to this are mentally unstable and devoid of any taste or musical acumen.
Agreed EASILY the best theme tune ever made
RIP Sir Roger Moore (2017) - RIP Tony Curtis (2010) - RIP John Barry (2011)! > All my childwood!
vdb Well it was a great childhood i'm sure.
The quality of the ITC series in the 1960s and 70s was just incredibly good.
one of the best intros.......ever!!!!
it ALWAYS gives me goosebumps.....
THE best, oozes class.
the best after his "Game of Death" :)
elliot bizness Agreed, but no speed cameras in those days.😁
R.I.P. Roger Moore & Tony Curtis
tony kol
hard to believe that they're both gone....
The best ever theme for a TV series. Will never be beaten, definitely. John Barry's genius.
The Persuaders is an 🇺🇸 american-🇬🇧 english classic series from the 60es.Roger Moore and Tony Curtis work as Detectives in a elegant and rich area of London. Both actors play excellent and the witty screenplay is sheer joy to hear. The soundtrack captures the mood of swinging sixties area well. The colors and lightning of this series are smooth and relax the viewer. The "Persuaders" is a refreshing experience and a tv classic.Even if the stories in the episodes are rather unlikely.Good.
One of the best TV series theme of all time ! Thanks so much Mr. Barry !
This intro is just masterful. It establishes the who, what, when, where and how in just a little more than a minute. Damn.
RIP Sir Roger Moore, brilliant and elegant man. Great couple with Tony Curtis. The Persuaders, one of my favourite TV series.
Best way to bring America and England together. ❤️
two great actors together at last. RIP Roger Moore
Probably the best TV or otherwise music intros ever
Persuaders was one of the first TV series that really fascinated me. I loved the opening theme and the debauched interpretations of Roger and Toni.
Big nostalgia of that time. Of innocence, of everything.
R.I.P. Roger Moore.
The lads are together again. R.I.P. Roger. R.I.P. Tony
I shoot aliens They were Men. Men of class but with a sense of fun ; ). sadly missed.
RIP Sir Roger Moore, Tony Curtis and John Barry
Great series even though it didn't run for long but takes me back to the good old days of great viewing

I don't know what the greatest ever tv theme is - but this one is bloody close to the top.
Bon Voyage Lord Brett Sincliar 23MAY 2107 definitely one of the best TV series ever
"Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei!" Treue Freundschaft unter Personen, hat kein ende.
Es gibt nichts, was so wichtig ist wie Freundschaft.

Pure class!
Now, Lord Brett Sinclair, if you could give Danny Wilde our greetings... I just can't believe it :'(
Well said ! one of my favourite shows....
I'm re-watching the Persuaders this week, in memory of Sir Roger Moore... Brett's and Danny's jibes to each other were so hilarious, but that friendship is also touching to me.
TV magic. What an era.
totally agree a killer theme tune if not the greatest!!
RIP Sir Roger. Brilliant theme, btw.
Golden British TV memory, to be remembered for life.
Love Roger & Tony best series

They just played themselves. Has to be the best ITC series - with the best-ever TV theme (as once described by N.M.E.).
I think Roger Moore was the
most ''HANDSOME JAMES
BOND 007'🔫', in my eyes! 😘
I loved his wonderful movies
so badly!😘👍👍👍💿📀📺
Roger
Moore: He comes in my childhood memory as I used to seat with my late
father watching his favourite TV serial “The Saint” as “Simon Templar”
and “The Persuaders” in a wooden, black & white, valve, Philips TV
with wooden doors. That TV used to turns on 2 minute later after turning
on the TV switch. This is about Roger Moors and my childhood memory.
Both of the persons have gone. My father passed away on the 15th April
2017 and Roger Moors passed away yesterday on the 24th May 2017.
RIP Roger
I loved this show! Each week it was, "Danny or Brett....Brett or Danny?" Both so gorgeous!

Learnt about this show and it’s brilliant intro through my dad, definitely going to watch it when I get the chance
This was Sunday afternoon Tv must watch at 1pm
The best tv theme ever...but it's playing a little too fast, which is making it sound too high! LOL
DeanaL no it's not!! the TV theme was cut short and edited like this for the opening titles.... the soundtrack version runs at a slower pace...
RIP Brett Sinclair from your home Knebworth House - Knebworth Archives
Loved that show. Even did a TV Trope submission on it.
Farewell Sir Roger Moore..... May God bless your soul and rest you in Peace
RIP roger who I met in liverpool night club cream a few years ago
Nostalgia at it's finest
Liked the early bits when they were growing up and young men, especially the bit of rugby.
It's brilliant because it makes you understand who they are, how were their lives before they met. Even a person who has not seen the show immediately gets what it is all about and why those characters are so interesting together. Judge Fulton had basically the same idea than the showrunners lol. I think it's my favourite show opening.
Immer noch ein tolles Intro
The funny thing is that the show didn't make up in the U.S. but was a blockbuster in Germany («Die Zwei», The Two), Spain («Los persuasores»), Italy («Attenti a quei due», Beware of those two), France («Amicalement vôtre», Amicably yours), Sweden («Snobbar som jobbar», Snobs at work) and even in the USSR («Syščiki - Ljubiteli ekstra-klassa», Extra-class amateur detectives) :-)
The failure of The Persuaders in the USA convinced its producer, Lord Grade, to stop trying to crack network prime time and tackle feature films. That ended unhappily with Raise the Titanic, of which he said 'It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic'.
rip sir
That's actually Roger Moore's son in the opening credits.
RIP RM FOR EVER 007
Tony Curtis once said in an episode: "Why do i always end up dirty and you always stay clean?", to what Sinclair replied: "Because we English think clean". Hilarious!
Most of the show, indeed, was grounded on the cultural clash between two stereotypes, the English aristocrat and the American self-made man.
tw2 Lgndary originaL diurty rotn scoundrLs, thank u for tha mmories
this video has the theme cut down a bit and it goes much quicker than the original
not one of the best, the best
If this song had lyrics Nick Cave should be singing them
I don't know if this was false news or not but quite a while ago there was talk on the internet about a remake with George Clooney as Danny Wilde and Hugh Grant as Lord Brett Sinclair.
Both too old. Call it The Pensioners.
cool!:)
