- Some clips thrown together from a recent trip to my hometown.
XFAVC UHD 4K (Intra)
Lens: Canon 35mm F2 EF IS
Used Breakthrough X4 VND Drop-in Filter (color slightly warm but more consistent at darker stops vs Canon, which is more neutral but goes unuseably magenta stopped down).
Graded using Juan Melara's Canon 2 Alexa and Film Unlimited.
This is some of the nicest R5c footage I’ve seen. There’s something about the R5C footage that while being super detailed, looks a lot more cinematic than most of the competition out there.
Thanks! Very excited to try out the new R5. I agree the R5C make a special image, but it's not quite on par with the C70, and the new R5 looks like it gets as close if not as good or better.
@@stevenbaileytv I’m one of the weird ones who likes the R5c footage more lol I had a couple c70’s for awhile and while the image was nice, it was always too soft for me. I’m hoping there’s an R5cii with the R5ii’s sensor!
@@joshblck1 Yeah I definitely get feeling the extra detail with the R5C! I bet you'll dig the C400 when it's available.
What song is this? Love it!!
Looks amazing. Great work! Quick question. Isn't Juan's Canon2Alexa LUT for CLOG2? Did it work well for CLOG3? Thank you!
@@AndrewOh-n1y It is for Clog 2! I had to do my own tweaks to get it to work for Clog 3. Not a perfect fit but it got the job done. :)
I've shot extensively with the R5 & FX3. Technically the FX3 has everything I desire in a video camera but I loooooove shooting with the R5 better and always enjoy the image more often. Technically the FX3 has better dynamic range but I've never been had an issue with the R5.
The R5C has improved video performance and dynamic range over the R5. If you like the image from the R5, you'd love the R5C!
Fantastic grading, love it!!
stunning compositions and grade. Nicely done
Thank you!
You’re so good! Amazing shots!
I loved ❤Ur video.i just want to know what lenses did use.
Did you add any sharpening in post? Great shots!
@@BrotherHenkel I didn’t!
@ Damn bro that’s clean! Did you have any sharpening in camera?
@@stevenbaileytv And was this clog3?
@ it was! And thank you! I don’t have the camera anymore (owned by a production company I worked with a lot), but I miss it. Now I feel stuck wondering if I should just get the new R5 since I need a b-cam, or cross my fingers and hope they release a new R5C with the better sensor/c-log 2.
@@BrotherHenkel I don’t think I had sharpening in camera. Really the 8K downscaled image is just so sharp.
Nice images
so good what lenses did you use?
Canon EF 35mm F2 IS
Great images! Your night time shots are so clean! Can I ask what ISO this is shot on? Any post noise reduction applied?
Hey! Shot everything at ISO 800. Didn't add any NR.
This looks so good. 0:44-0:51 has some of my favorite shots I’ve seen from this camera. I’m gonna be grabbing an R5C soon. Would you mind sharing a little about how you shot and graded this video?
Thanks for the kind words! Shot handheld (no rig) with a Canon 35mm F2 EF IS lens. Used the Canon filter adapter with a Breakthrough Photography X4 VND for daytime. Colored in Davinci using Juan Melara stuff - Canon to Alexa (had to tweak to make the transform work with C-Log 3, honestly super trial and error and overall Davinci seems really buggy with Canon logs) + Film Unlimited. Added some more info to the description.
@@stevenbaileytv Thank you! That’s some super helpful information. I grade in Davinci, and I’ve been checking out everything that you mentioned, so it helps to know I’m on the right track
my canon r5c camera broke down, the motherboard burned down, that's what I was told at an authorized service center in Georgia, I'm on a business trip and I can't get support from Canon, they don't respond to my emails. The service center in Georgia refused to repair the camera because they sent a request to Canon and Canon reported that they did not have a motherboard for Canon r5c. I can't work, my camera is broken, the service center has refused to repair and canon support is not getting in touch. Thank you very much canon company!
Sorry to hear that my friend. Check out Sharegrid for some last minute gear rentals, or something like lensprotogo. Hopefully Canon support will make this right with you! Wish I knew production crew in Georgia that I could hook you up with.
Stunning images! well done! Direct from camera or using external reorder...? thanks!
Straight from camera.
