seen this a ton in the northeast during winter on diesel equipment. since most have gone to common rail they need 9.5 v or more while cranking to run the electronics. some even more. with yours the reason it starts sometimes is the alternater puts out just enough to to raise the voltage above the threshold wile cranking. its righ on the border. any more a battery test is almost a must do first.
That's funny. I just had a F10 show up with similar issues - it had actually come from another shop who got scared after seeing all the codes. I did a load test on the battery and it failed miserably. New battery installed and registered, codes cleared - problems gone...and I now I have a happy customer who will most likely be coming back to me in the future. :)

Bad battery will have crazy voltages so every module doesn’t get the correct power so they don’t function correctly and give crazy codes. If you wanna see weak battery go in ista+ and see the battery history it shows the last 30 days of battery history, charging, and drive cycles. For some things like this you need that dealer level software for that extra information.
This helped tremendously my car is doing the same exact thing thought something was major wrong with my car havnt changed battery yet but gonna test it because I'm also getting a drivetrain malfunction but have same symptoms like this vehicle mine is a 2014 328i
People forget that modern cars are computer heavy below a certain voltage they don't work not like the old carburetor job I used to drive. Enjoyed the video thanks for taking the time.
Good tip man . Battery is a BIG deal when dealing with euros . I feel like all new cars due to all the modules they carry nowadays, will start to mirror a euro car with all does voltage codes , due to bad battery . I guess battery test(as first step) on all cars will be the way to go from now on . Keep it up Mario. Thank you for taking your time to pass on some knowledge.

Nice video man! That’s one thing that’s always stuck with me from school... my teacher was very stern about checking battery, charging and starting systems before proceeding .. And of course whenever I skipped that step was the time it would burn me haha
My 2013 F150 with 25,000 miles (not 250,000) does something similar. No codes. Mine cranks (computer takes over and lets it crank for maybe 3 seconds) then stops on its own, they cranks again on its own (no driver imput) and will crank longer but will not start. Then lets driver imput again... kinda similar. I do have a weak battery though! Will try to post a short video on it this weekend)

Had a bit of a battery issue with my wife’s 2010 2.0 diesel x1 earlier in the year where one day it decided to just not start, she has the car with 4 years and we even drove it to south of France with the kids on hols last year and never had a starting issue, only odd thing Is the stop/start function never worked during our ownership so going back to the initial no start issue I went and got a new agm Bosch battery for it and went to fit it and noticed the positive lug was literally only push fit as the bolt was snapped by who ever put a battery in it previously many years ago! Got replacement bolt relearned the new battery and hey presto stop/start working ...! Would love to know how the F#%* it had been starting with no issue for literally years before!

I really like your consistent audio with the mic a few inches from your mouth. Just remember that we don't hear anything from the engine, we can't hear the engine turning over, we don't hear you turn the ignition key, we'll never hear the fuel pump turn on. Tell us what you're hearing.
Hi, i need help with my car problem, the problem is my car crank but won't start, i checked injector signal, there's no signal, i checked ignition coil, there's also no signal, then i checked all fuse and relay, there's no fault. After that i checked all the wiring on engine, there's no problem with the wire harness, lastly i checked the ecm/ecu, i bring it to ecu repair shop they checked no faulty and i pay charge for checking usd60, after that, i try to start again, its still won't start, then i bring the ecm/ecu again to the bmw agent for checking with charge usd100, they also said there's no faulty with the ecu/ecm. I checked the fuel pump its working, i checked the pressure of fuelpump its working perfect. I checked the immobiliser, also no problem, Im still wondering with the problem and why my ignition coil and injector no power and no signal. Fault code on obd is P0341, P101b and P1061 , i tried clear, after a few minutes its appear again, anyone know what the problem? My car BMW 320i E90 2006, engine N46
Yeah I found out my starter cable runs all the way in the back trunk connecting to the Terminal Distribution Fuse Junction Plate and that's why my suv wouldn't start. I tested all the positive cables and found out one wasn't hot which was the starter cable.

Hi thanks for your videos I have an intermediate crank no start and when it doesn't start and just cranks I get terminal 15_3 short to ground if I disconnect the battery and plug back in the car will start and shortly a few minutes later shut off again and same code crank no start I've replaced two batteries already checked relays fuses sent the ecu out to get tested, replaced power cables still does the same thing Could this be a battery problem only?
Hi. My 2015 x4 35i is doing this. I changed coils, plugs. Fuel pump, fuel pump module, & relay but nothing worked. Battery was replaced last year as well but it’s draining my battery trying to start it. I give it a charge or jump & get a message stating battery discharged start engine but it will not turn over & if it does it runs about 2 seconds & cuts off & the engine shakes loud & crazy. Any thoughts?

i havent had any luck with my bmw 328i 2007 it cranks but no start. Codes did pop so i put new camshaft sensors, coil packs ( has new spark plugs) solienods it has a new battery ( replaced it because it was completly dead). Tested the actuator & fuses everything is good but no luck yet.
Hey Mario how can you save yourself from going down this rabbit hole? Scope voltage for the battery like a voltage rc test and see if it drops below the 8.5?
My car just had the fuel pump fixed at bmw and it tries to start but won’t turn over I tried. Hitting the fuel pump I checked the fuses I checked everything I tried jump starting it what do you think the problem is

I stopped the car to get down at the store came out the battery was fine the fuses were fine it has gas and it smells like gas when I try and start it , the car seems to want to start it cranks but won’t fully start and it seems like it’s going to start but then doesn’t I tried over and over till the battery died now I called a tow truck to get me to bmw and they didn’t have skates so I wasn’t able to get it now my car is parked in a random parking lot the car is a 2016 435 xdrive grand coupe f36 i also tried staring fluid I tried to put oil in the car I put octane booster in the car I couldn’t check the relays but seems if it was a relay it wouldn’t have even tried to start . Anyways the tow truck left because he didn’t have skates and I couldn’t get under the car to take the pannel off to put it into neutral manually . The starter was fine prior to this and now that the battery is dead it really does nothing I remember in my 335i the hpfp was always an issue and apparently bmw told me the parts quality hasn’t been that great literally everything on the car has been replaced it’s weird my BC button hasn’t been working properly since I got it back from bmw not my odometer trip but it never affected my car starting . I mean the engine is babies anymore info I could give you to possibly make a guess ? Also I have a. Warranty extended so it will be fixed regaurdless but this is the 3rd time I’ll have to use it this year if it’s not the fuel pump I’m literally hoping it’s the fuel pump
@@JusZard Depends on where you are smelling the fuel from. If you’re smelling it from the front then you may have a fuel leak. If you are smelling it from the exhaust then you may have a lack of spark causing raw gas to go right out of the exhaust. Either way, they will have to take it over, diagnose it and so on. Hopefully you didn't over fill it with oil. Does the oil cap smell like fuel?
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics I smelt the fuel under the rear passenger seat and no I don’t believe fuel and oil mixed but the car never stated for me to know all I know is the fuel pump smelled . Also thank you

I have the same problem, battery voltage is at 11.89. I hook up charger and it goes up to 12.4, I disconnect the charger and it automatically goes to 11.89. Crank no start.

My f10 doesn't crank or start and im getting a mad starter code on my screen, it doesn't make sense because it bogged on me them i turned it off then it never turn on again, i probably fucked my starter up
@@SamFigueroaLeon impossible to say. Could be lack of fuel, a charging system issue, a bad sensor, a module issue. Without properly troubleshooting, it’s any man’s guess

That's not the same symptom. Here, the engine turns over, but won't run. You're talking about the engine turning over then stops right? You'd have to confirm that you're getting good starter command when this happens. Could be a starter issue. Or hook up a jump pack to the engine ground and positive post, see if it stops happening. There are several reasons why this can happen

Hi, I need your advise and help, please. I have 2015 328i with FBO and BM3 stage II tune. It does not want to crank or start, I got new AGM battery and new starter and even have a jump box and running car to jump start it and no luck. I scanned it using ISTA And Autel scanner and I got the following codes 8040B5 and 80444D and I am not sure what do now, any help is appreciated.
How do you find the Autel with giving accurate fault codes? I've had issues with other scan tools (Gscan and Snap On) giving false codes, When I plug in with ISTA the codes are different to what the other tools are showing.
For the most part the accuracy is the same. The last time i came across this, i used ista and it showed me the same codes as the autel. This time i just used the autel only

@@eduardorenteria455 the valvetronic system is responsible for variable valve lift, which is the direct system for throttle response. You'll need to test before condemning anything.

Crazy it doesn't have a code for a weak battery

Like the older dodge, during crank the voltage would drop so low, loss of tps would occur creating crank no start

What exactly? The same exact codes or just the symptom? Have you looked at any live data? What tests have you conducted?
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics the fault crank when I go to start it I push the button it cuts power every time I hit it I feel a kick of it wanting to start but doesn’t

That's not the same symptom. Here, the engine turns over, but won't run. You're talking about the engine turning over then stops right?
You'd have to confirm that you're getting good starter command when this happens. Could be a starter issue. Or hook up a jump pack to the engine ground and positive post, see if it stops happening.

Hi, I need your advise and help, please.
I have 2015 328i with FBO and BM3 stage II tune.
It does not want to crank or start, I got new AGM battery and new starter and even have a jump box and running car to jump start it and no luck. I scanned it using ISTA And Autel scanner and I got the following codes 8040B5 and 80444D and I am not sure what do now, any help is appreciated.

How do you find the Autel with giving accurate fault codes?
I've had issues with other scan tools (Gscan and Snap On) giving false codes, When I plug in with ISTA the codes are different to what the other tools are showing.
For the most part the accuracy is the same.
The last time i came across this, i used ista and it showed me the same codes as the autel.
This time i just used the autel only

No, it will overwork your alternator. But not cause a crank no start

@@eduardorenteria455 the valvetronic system is responsible for variable valve lift, which is the direct system for throttle response. You'll need to test before condemning anything.
