Good work. These little duramaxs are beasts and changing oil on them is a breeze. An old mechanic taught me to fill the filter with fresh oil. Daves auto center has some good videos on why he does it.
Given the way this under-chassis is designed, a Fumoto valve will definitely eliminate the mess because you can control/direct the drain flow, even attach a hose to the valve and run it directly into your drain bucket. Nice video.
Great job brother. I’m considering buying one. Currently in a 21 f150 2.7. I’m tired of leasing. Thinking of buying a similar truck. Good luck with yours.
Beautiful rig you got there Mike. How are you liking it so far ? Hearing lots of good things about new duramax 3.0 LZO engine. My coworker has an Elevation model Sierra 2020 my, he’s thrilled with it. Is the fuel economy as good as they say ? Keep up the good work 👍
NO complaints so far. Great ride, great interior. Best mileage I got so far has been 43 mpg. I average 25-30 city / highway mix. Best of both worlds almost 2500 towing capacity in a 1500
@mikesmachines9394 Thanks for the good cid. Just bought an SLT a month ago. I work at GM, and the other owner co-workers love the truck and engine choice. I personally got 33mpg so far on a trip to work, mostly highway(80mph), avg 24 mpg, and they tell me "wait until you break it in!". They weren't satisfied withthe 4 banger turbo, towing and such, as impressive as the numbers are on paper. The mpg is the most impressive aspect for a full size truck, IMHO. Even my old lady's wee 4 cylinder Terrain can barely match it! And if you comsider they "require" premium gas, it's MORE expensive to run than mine. Firat oil change at 3500 miles, when the dealership will only pay for first 2 @ 7500 miles.... NOT! I'm pretty old school, and I'm not letting it go rhat far on the same lube, especially break-in period. Mines a 2024, and heard there's been a couple mods since 2023, better I hope. I will be subbing and checking your following vids, as this is my first diesel.😀
@mikesmachines9394 No. I went to their website and got their phone number. I called them up and got Landyn on the phone. He was friendly and helpful. I ordered the magnetic drain plug ($20.00), a billet fill cap, and two of their larger oil filters. All for the Duramax 3.0 turbo diesel. Hopefully, that helps you.
Yes they would have with a cheap filter and garbage oil. Plus do you really know they did it?? I’ve had too many shitty experiences with dealerships. I’d rather do my own work and know its done right.
@@mikesmachines9394 the oil isn’t poor quality and the oil filter is ok, but yes get a better filter like Wix. I don’t know if I’d wait 5,000 miles for the first oil change.
@@kevinw1287the problem I've experienced with the standard Wix since they moved production to China and Hecho en Mexico is oil flowing out of the ADBV after a few thousand miles of use. I did my first oil change with the dealer and was able to make it less than 1,000 miles before noticing I had almost no oil left because the mechanic didn't tighten the filter all the way! Always best to do it yourself for peace of mind.
Suck out the tranny fluid from the dip stick. Measure and replacd with 100% synthetic quality fluid. Consider amsoil 75w110 for rear diff.. if it doesng have a drain plug suck out from fill plug..
WRONG!! As long as Amsoil meets OR exceeds Dexos standards IT DOES NOT void your warranty. Amsoil BLOWS Dexos out of the water on all tests. Now go back to your day job at the dealership and leave me alone.
@@mikesmachines9394 question change the oil by myself can avoid the warranty? This is my new car in my 55 years LOL alway had old v8 truck and do my own oil change and repairs
Wrong. Amsoil does not meet the Dexos D specifications. They might state they do but since they do not pay GM technically it is not approved. Now go back to your Amsoil pyramid sales job.
No I didn’t mesure it or check the dip stick. The oil I dropped was close to 7 qts by eyeballing the drain bucket used. Nothing during the oil change gave me any concerns or second thoughts. If it burns some, what’s the fix? No recall that I heard about. New engines always burn oil slightly during the break-in period.

You didnt check the air filter, all you need is an 8mm with extension and although its fine, its best to knock out all the dust and bugs that are accumulated. Amsoil isnt dexos d certified so your warranty will definitely be denied if you come accross issues. Oem ac delco is just as good or better than wix, and i know you didnt really take a close look at the suspension cause you would find that THERE IS NO greasable components 😂. Also your tires psi is way above spec, should be 35psi and you didnt rotate the tires. It would benefit you and the truck if you just take it to the professionals
And I guess you are one of those professionals peddling your nonsense to dissuade people from doing their own work. I know how you professionals operate. Cut corners, use cheap replacement fluids and parts, “adjust” parts so they fail and cause the customer to come in for a big repair. I’ve seen all the bullshit dealerships do. Dang bro. How you afford an AT4? You a surgeon or something?

PPE sells a magnetic drain plug that will replace your stock plug. It doesn't use a rubber gasket.
