Oil leaks get into the wire harness. You start chasing ghosts unless you replace the harness. 30 year old tractor with 30 year old wires. Either replace or sell. My job runs a 7800 that was laid over, it's now the primary silage loading unit. Near 17k hours. Also have a 7810 that just got a new transmission and wire harness, near 16k hours on it. R6160 replacement is around $270k (loader included), so replacing wires can be a cheap fix.
Electrical problems sidelined a tractor for an entire winter years ago. When we finally figured it out, we reacted a lot like you guys did. Except we didn't offer it for sale.😁
Happy we figured it out finally. Row crop would replace it. That’s the real reason why we would sell it. Since our main corn fertilizer tractor went down this year.
Hey guys, first what a great channel you make, I enjoy every video. I've had more or less the same thing, a JD6410 with unexplained electrical problems. The dealer had it in the shop for a week (no cure, no pay) and could not find it. Furthermore, the tractor was and is much too good to throw it away, so I thought, I will manage with it and one day I will find it or it will be on fire, and when I find it I say "oh of course ". After about 8 years I found it and indeed, oh of course, the ground cable was loose in the connector. I am a first generation farmer in the Netherlands
Thank you! Amazing to hear! That is crazy you dealt with it for 8 years. Crazy how simple it can be sometimes. Thank you for watching form across the ocean!
Probably was a deal where if you tested that connection with a DVOM, voltage may have shown as normal but current flow (amperage) may have been way low. At least it was something simple.
I think karma only allows you to have a certain number of working tractor s on your farm 😂cos every time you fix one one breaks 🎉 so it looks! Or your guardian angels are just making sure you have plenty of content for u UA-cam viewers? Great to watch another video of a day in the life of 802 👍🏻
unbelievable , its like that was planed , if the IH had not broken you may have not found that , understand why you angry but its fixed , sell it and get another IH , for me the best make of Tractor
Wires are a massive problem for seeing damage and diagnose but one of the cheapest easiest fixes when you find it., shame you had to break a tractor to fix one so to say ,😅
@@802Farmers it sure is but it seems to be the way it works in this life in many aspects of life , thanks for the time to reply, loving your great content 👍🏻

Always something for sure. High hours comes with plenty of problems
Always check the ground! Went through that with a 2002 Jetta, ended up with the Lemon Law! Bad ground messed up the whole electrical system.

Funny how it worked. But glad it’s running again. They do make a good tractor. 👍🏻

Not cheap when the dealer is look though. That can get expensive. Funny how it works though. One breaks another gets fixed.

How many hours are on it?
13k on engine. Around 2-3k on new transmission done by John Deere dealer.
Is that Deere still cheap???
It’s in running condition now so I can’t say it’s cheap. It’s normal priced now again. Haha
