I adore the big dog's face! She seems so worried but is truly happy! How she moves in slow- motion is so lovely too!
Getting a 5 month old GSD on Sunday never trained a dog before so i'm so happy i found your channel.
Your direct and to the point while being very informative at the same time and they way you explain your methods makes sense right away.
Thanks so much for the great content
Cheers from Canada
Always good information. Will knows dogs, I have been working with my GSD and the better he gets the more he looks to me for that guidance he is talking about which makes it easier to train and then keeps snowballing. I finally got him to fetch instead of keep away. Thanks for all the help. Lately I cant wait to take him for a walk because it is fun for me too.
Top trainer, the dogs are so chilled out. My puppy is so much better on the loose lead, I've never had problems with the lead with previous dogs but this one has been a nightmare, but the loose lead is great, she just pootles along and sniffs around now she's 9 months old, glad I found this channel.
This video is amazing. The content on this channel just gets better and better. Thank you so much Will!!
My basset will sniff around the dog park for half an hour and she will fall asleep in the car. Your videos are inspirational and have to taught me how to undo some of the bad habits I have reinforced in ignorance. "When we know better, we do better." Thank you for your videos!! ♥
Feeding your dog by hand (as payment for good behavior) is a total game changer. Within a few days you’ll basically throw his/her food bowl away, as you will almost never use it again after seeing the results of hand feeding.
Thanks for the tips. Keep up the great work Will👍🏾
You are amazing! your love for the dogs shines and by the way you look very good. God Bless you!
Love watching you work
Awe I love your English mastiff! Reminds me of my first one who was a big oh lug! ❤
agree ...1 tip i love just throw a hand full ov biscuits in the grass sniffing moving around tiers them out ....
Thank you Will.😊
Minute 2:55.
Great quote.
Love your content and your passion.
I had a Shetland Sheepdog back in the 1990's that loved to play fetch. She would play the game for literally hours on end. In fact my older brother once took her hiking up Mt. Washington here in New Hampshire (USA), an 8 hour hike, and she still played fetch for 2 hours when she got home. She had incredible energy. She was also very smart, even for a sheltie.
Love the real life examples here of socializing by introducing a new location with sights and smells, working on relationship and self control on loose lead walking, and burning energy playing fetch. I find myself unsure during walks if I should let him take the full length of the leash to explore and sniff as he wants as long as he doesn't pull. I usually flip back and forth between heel and break to help train falling into position for heel but also allowing him ample breaks (more than 50% of the walk actually) to explore, smell, mark, grab a stick to chew on a loose leash but with the leash fully available for him to use. Do you think he should be in heel for the entire morning walk or am I misunderstanding that?
I started trying your techniques on my 13-year-old dog who was pulling the leash literally until choking. Now looks like a completely different dog, feels really good seeing the leash is loose.
Great video! although the banjo music is not balanced well. (on premiere) Add a stereo expander effect and push the background music wide. then keep Will's dialogue and VO dead center on the audio space. then balance the db of each as needed.
Yes, Will, great little tidbit but as another audio guy, the backing track is a touch too loud. ;)
These tips are so basic and logical and what I did with my blue heeler. He was the best boy ever and I could take him absolutely everywhere. Amazingly, this sort of stuff is so hard to teach my parents xD
Great video, thanks
I am getting a GSD pup in 8 weeks (they are about to hatch any day now). I have an 11 year old lab collie mix, she was my first dog and I made a lot of mistakes with her, but she forgives me and I've learned a lot. She even saved me and my 6 months old son from a charging bull moose once.😶
In preparation for my GSD pup I've been reading books and binge watching your videos. Thank you for such great advice, keep up the good work! ❤️
Love the hair cut !!! Do you have a video to teach fear of environment, I have a 12 week old GSD and he is afraid of all the environment, cars places, we are taking him out but was wondering if there any other things I should be doing
Love your videos
Great content
Great video bud
Hi Will, we love your videos and technics ♥
We have one major problem with our 3 months old puppy Pomeranian. We have open top fence (2metres by 1 meter) poddy pad and cushing for him. We play in house twice morning and evening to spend energy. %80 of time he pees on poddy pad (we reward every time) but almost every day he pees & poops on his cushing too. If we dont see him poop, he is eating it too. We use enzyme smell removal or changing the cushing with new one but he keeps doing it.
He is very lovely and attached to us but he is very spoiled.
We think that Peeing & pooping on cushing is not punishment move, it's not that he doesn't know it's just he doesn't care.
He doesn't even smell before doing it.
He also doesn't care for pee smell, most of the time he sleeps on poddy pad. We are cleaning him, removing all the smells but he is not picky.
What can you suggest us? is there any way to teach him being meticulous about cleaning and peeing?
Thank you
Getting my Corgi Tired is a hard task. I want to run and just let him chase me but I feel if I do that he won’t think of me as leading. Our pug on the other hand never has energy to do anything.
Queen Eileen & Uncle Sully - what a fantastic combination!
I follow your advice, got chocolate labrador retriever. One walk and he's stopped pulling on the leash, if he goes further then 8ft from me without leash he stops and looks at me pays attention and everything only with just one walk and your videos thank you 😀😀😀😀😁 only struggling now with other dogs but I'm working on it
Good day Will and thanks for all the videos has been an eye opener for sure. I have a Skye Terrier and she is 5 & 1/2 months old and is a very smart dog ( almost too smart lol ) I've been told that I will never be able to have her walk off leash and was hoping you might have some insight on this?
Again thanks for the videos
There's a lot more info he would have to know before giving you a consult, and I doubt he'll do it for free in the comment section. Maybe try sending an email through the Fenrir site? Don't lose hope, keep training! Hope you find the help you need. :)
@Linden Peters didn't ask for his advice for training asked if he thought that a skye terrier could be trained to walk off leash simple yes or no would suffice, but thank you for your input.
I will never give up hope she's just top dam cute for that.
Cheers
Do we have to use a crate? I was just going to get a gate to block off areas
I have trouble finding a dog food my ship tzu will eat…can you help.
Ok, WHAT did you do different with your beard, and WHY does it look so good in this video!?
Apologies that my question isn't dog related. I've just seen a TON of your videos, and can pretty much echo what you're about to say in them now. lol
But, the beard is on point, man! Nicely done!
Oh, dog related question.....
What if your dog isn't really praise, food, or play driven? How do you motivate them!?
I am not sure if you said "law course" for a sighthound.
My little deerhound lurcher lives fetch and frisbee, but I am always looking for more options to keep play time fresh, I'm pretty sure you didn't say law course.. 😅 or if so.. what?
Wills videos and Fenrir are incredible, my big bud is incredibly smart and obedient despite being sometimes stubborn, but persistent repetition has worked out his stubbornness, and I exhaust his energy physically most days and mentally other days.
He is a charming big man and I am lucky to have him in my life, I am constantly getting compliments on how well he is trained, and I did it myself with Fenrir training information and Wills videos! ☺️
Lure course. A track where a bait entices the dog to run and try to catch the lure. Kinda like a greyhound track. I have a friend that takes her doberman to lure coursing.
@@gailscibelli9148doesn't feel feasible for folks at home. My Staffy x GSP loves to chase and fetch but won't give the 'fetch' back
What about training/waking your dog in the morning before work?
Will that create Separation anxiety after you leave for work?
Hey what type of 2 piece dog lead is that? Is it leather?
Hi Wil. I have a 1 year old male Rottweiler and urgently need your advice. He's always tried bolting after other dogs on walks but recently he's started trying to chase after CARS. I have no idea how to get him to stop but it's getting to the point where I'm anxiety ridden on walks looking out for every car I see. He doesn't do it with all cars but I'd say he does it with 50% of the cars he sees. Any advice?
Will, do you do consultations over the phone? I'm a dog trainer and have one question I'm dying to ask for my own new pup.
simple things ..but if u cant give time please dont get a dog an if u havent the time to train think twice b 4 getting a dog or ur setting up to fail
guys what do you suggest i do, i live in a cul de sac and i have no way of really going anywhere, because i don't have a license. And i would like to walk my dogs, but there are so many dogs in my street it's dangerous to take them out. because the owners never leash them, I'm thinking about going super early to take them but even then, there could still be a few dogs loose. what should i do?
Hey there I just adopted a young dog from the shelter but unfortunately she is chewing every thing I own how can I correct this. Pls help
I like the idea of getting it to do what it’s bred to do… but when you have a pair of Romanian livestock guardian dogs and no livestock, that gets tricky 😂 I guess they can sit and gaze into the distance, waiting for a wolf or bear to magically appear in Cambridgeshire 😂
Hi will, my beautiful girl is ivy a red fox labrador, using your videos I've got her heel walking and returning on command. She loves to jump high in the air, the higher the better, im so worried that she's going to hurt her back or hips, is this high sky flying jumping normal behaviour for red fox labs 😂😂😂 she's my super dog ❤ thank you for your guidance and videos ❤❤❤
Quick question, regarding on getting their meals on a pouch. Does this apply to a puppy? (3.5 months old) and would this affect their potty training if now they are eating when a good behavior happen instad of a specific time?
I love the idea, but I don't fully get it.
Puppies need to be fed 3 to 4 times a day. You don't have to do this, but it is a good idea to grab a handful of their kibble before each meal and do a short 5-minute training. Mine learned loose leash walking as a puppy, by just following me around the house for a bit before meals, and she'd get rewarded with kibble for walking with me and looking at me.
I'd love to play fetch and let my dog play as he has lots of energy, but he is a giant breed (cane corso) therefore not allowed to much exercise so is awkward.
I have been walking my 2 Boston Terriers on harnesses. Should I change them to a slip chain or a leather slip lead?
Brachycephalic dogs have enough trouble breathing as it is. I don't think it's recommended to use slip leads on them. But a good front clip harness would help! Gentle Leader makes one, and other brands do, too.
Most ppl are failing to have an aquarium 😅
My dog loves watching fish 😂
Omg, that is exactly what I think. I'm going to get it on a t-shirt.
I love Will setting us up for success.
What did you suggest for sight hounds? I couldn’t hear it. It sounded like ‘buy a law course’. I’ve got a sighthound. Thanks.
He said lure course
I feed my dog fresh raw food, so how do I use food since I do not use kibble, for training, and still feed my pup her fresh raw food?
❤❤❤
Sorry, what was said for sight hounds?
Lure course
One question if I start burning all Energy of dog . Do I also not making my dog more energetic in future .
Like we humans go too Gym and Start making more stamina .
I have no idea
Yes, of course.
He presents training in 7 days. Each of 7 items are commands that he believes a dog should know. They are presented in part ii of the book ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxK8-VQWpYThx4IC6MiIvb6VS1ebTzzdxq . The parts of the guideare divided: part i know your dog part ii the seven commands part iii cures for 7 behavior problems. Each chapter presents a topic, a dog's story, and a "what to do". It was written simply and you can jump from chapter to chapter to review anything as needed.
Holy Sh*t, just saw an article on Kenzo, a Central Asian Shepherd. What do you know about these beasts?
Hey, I was given a phone number to reach out but no one is replying. Any thoughts sir ?
Any advice on HOW to teach a dog to fetch, my girl doesn't get it.
McCann dog training has videos in how to teach fetch. Start small and use treats.
My dogs go outback and play chase.
My dog loves fetch but after a couple of fetches, he won't give the ball/stick/Frisbee back 😔
Give high-value treats like cooked meat for returning it right to your hand. My dog was reluctant to fetch at first, but loves it, now!
Got ideas for a South African Boerboel? We do a long walk but she's not a fetch dog.
If you can, strengthen your obedience and scent work then look for IPO/IGP/Shutzund Clubs in your area. Boerbols are farm dogs so they were bred for just about anything. As working dogs and large dog, high level obedience is a must, scent work drains energy like no other and as dog bred to protect, IGP is a great trajectory as it focuses on all three. 😊
You can teach any dog to fetch. Some just do it more naturally than others.
Isn’t your dog playing fetch really bad for their joints, all that sharp stopping and starting?
Plus a risk splinters in their mouth or grabbing sticks that fall endways in grass (had a problem with this)
My 9 month old Newfoundland is driving me mad with the mouthing
I signed up for this a couple years ago. Get charged over $ 35 a month for absolutley nothing! Can't seem to contact them and cancel this money grabbing for nothing!!!!
I can’t understand what he is saying to get for hunting dogs????
Lure course, he said.
As a go forward, turn on the captions (cc)
@@lp9476 hahaha, very good
Also he is only 6 months.
First view comment and like
Do you have advise on adult dog being too hyper with toddler? My dog is sweet, loves to play, but unfortunately way too hyper. He could play gently with a toddler for awhile, but once he gets excited he starts jumping around and unfortunately sometimes towards the toddler. His claws scratches the kid, or bump on the kid making the kid fall. And once the kid falls down, the dog panics and goes to protect mode and tries to shield the kid, again unfortunately with the dogs own body which further frightens the kid. Sigh...can't get the dog to calm down.
If the dog gets excited, remove the toddler. If you can't remove the toddler, remove the dog. Never let the dog try to "protect" the toddler from you.
I have this same problem with my dog and guests. She gets wayy too excited!
@@lindenpeters2601 indeed I do immediately remove the toddler. No idea what to do though. Cause they can't play together.
Sounds like you should have thought about that before you got the dog. We would never have considered having a dog until the kids were much older. Sadly, it is a combination that cannot understand each other. Toddlers and dogs are often not a good mix. If the child gets injured, inevitably, the dog will get the blame, when in reality it is just being a dog. My dog is a well trained obedient WCS but I would never, ever have got her if we’d had a toddler around. She meets toddlers out on walks and she is really calm and gentle, but I always watch her like a hawk.
@@paultrewin5871 please don't make assumptions. I had the dog for 11 years. The kid is only 2. You're telling me I should not get married and have kids if I have a dog? Kindly get off your high seat and move along.
@@kinciscorner You are the one with the problem, not me. Sometimes, the truth is a bit uncomfortable, eh?
Easy to say. My girl wouldn't eat dry dogs food as a treat. She'll only eat at certian hours. And for rewards she accepts only DRIED MEAT od sausages. She's a true lady (and as lady, she is so annoying)
Same for my dog. She does not care about kibble outdoors, even if she has not had breakfast. She is also better behaved if she is fed and not hungry all day long. She gets really skittish and hyper when she's not had enough to eat.
