I have been a fan of his since early 70's. I still have his first album. Seen him dozens of times in concert over the years. What I like about his playing is that it is very clean and articulate. Additionally, he is extremely gifted in complex and interesting melodies and counterpoint. Truly an amazing and blessed player!
Following Phil from 70's til present. Watched him grow into one of the top 5 guitarists in the world. A true master of the acoustic fretboard. So many mind numbing instrumental acoustic records. He simply stands alone with his own unique Style, phrasing, and Technical ability. Did I mention the man can sing like a bird? Plus he has the best asset ever the anointing from our creator.... ❤️ U PK
His music is timeless. His ability is off the charts. He is personable and shares his methodology with us commoners and He gives credit to the Maker of the Universe for his talents.
what an amazing, wonderful talant God has given this. man. His stewardship of the same blesses me every time I get to see/ hear him. keep on rocking brother Phil !
Yes it is CLASSIC pHIL STYLE....He's still getting that "little boy'" look of delight in his eyes when he throws in another little "ditty." It's adorable
Phil is a hoot to watch...what a talent....I only hope I can close...I do lead scales but no looping I could loop...and my times coming but Phil he's a world by himself...I try to follow his leads...but he passes me way ahead...what a joy to even try..
Trust me. Its amazing to know how he does it. I've met him! Georgia, at some church in Canton. MAN. he signed my guitar, I got to talk to him for a good 30 mins. Good guy!
First saw Phil w/Glass Harp down at The Ohio State University(71). Seen him a few times over the years, a truly gifted & humorous human, love watching him perform.
What is talent?? O-O still processing what I saw and heard... He's so adorable!! He'd be such a dream grandpa!! I would be SO happy to practice my guitar everyday if he was my grandpa...lol
Outstanding performance. Jimmy Hendrix may not have said it but I will. How does it feel to be the world's best guitar player? I don't know you'll have to ask Phil Keaggy. A+
One of the greatest. There are many great guitarist, im overjoyed Phil is a believer. I love Jeff Beck, he is another amazing guitarist. His live in Toyko dvd is awesome.
The stuff he does right after the "CHING" makes me think of Stephen Stills on Bluebird! That was nice stuff! I also saw a guy on trombone (of all things) do some very cool loop work on you tube!
Placing a capo that far from the fret is usually only successful when you have minimal string height (action). Even then, it is bending a string or two out of tune (hence the tuning adjustments he is making). Only mentioning this in case people with less-than-lowest of action try to place their capo so far from the edge of a fret and are annoyed by the intonation issues.
All I can say is you bring a smile to my face.
Thank the Lord, Thank whatever you wish to thank for Phil Keaggy!! Dude brings tears to my eyes with his beautiful, positive music!!!!!!
I always love how cheerful and happy Phil is - casually enjoying the moment, while simultaneously playing things that are almost impossible.

Im not trying to sound ultra religious but i sense and feel a very strong annointing of Gods spirit flowing through brother Keaggy and his music.
Jim Chumley you failed in NOT sounding ultra religious lol
Absolutely
... and yet, oddly, you *did* sound ultra religious...
I began listening to his music in '79. That anointing has always been there, and thank God it remains.
@@JonathanHatch1967 Whoooooooooop! Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooop! Goes the ultra religious siren.

The Lord took one of his picking fingers just to make it fair (and its still not fair)
John Rodgers Haha you’re right. Not fair at all!

So glad I found this after watching a clip of him playing the entire piece in concert.
I was wondering how he was using the two capos.
WOW.
Just..... WOW.
Amazing!!...
Not only great guitarist but a seemingly likeable human being he seems !I bought all his albums decades ago some par excellent !Others pretty good to
Amazing. Again.
I notice this guitar is a high end guitar; will the capos work on a less expensive guitar?
THE best!
The stuff he does right after the "CHING" makes me think of Stephen Stills on Bluebird! That was nice stuff! I also saw a guy on trombone (of all things) do some very cool loop work on you tube!
The first part he does before the rhythm comes in reminds me of the end of Going to CA, where they are singing all the AAAH's.
❤️❤️❤️
master
Who else had a stupid grin by the end?

Anyone that has a finger removed to better his craft is what I call FULLY dedicated!
I think a barrel was dropped on it when he was young, and he lost it.
oneinchsidehop I hard him say it was an accident with an old fashioned Well spout on his childhood farm
Makes my face light up.

I never thought about 2 capos lol
cool video. what are the type of capos and what is the looper setup he has. would love to know.
I think he uses at least one Kyser capo, and he uses the Pigtronix Infinity looper.
