The funny thing about the RUM is the heavier the bullet the better performance you get out of it. I have a 32” barrel on my RUM and I’m getting 3100 fps with the 245 Berger’s with no pressure at all. Awesome performance I use it in the light ELR class out to 2500 yards

Punching 20"x24" steel plate up to 1250' yards with .140 grain Nosler RDF's. Holding about 20 thousands from lands, loading 56.5 grains of Retumbo, I really like that Bergara!

Savage 110FCP HS Precision Bolt Action, 338 Lapua. 92.5 grains of Retumbo under a 285 ELD-M, touched off by a GM 215M primer. SD of 3 and ES of 7. 2798 FPS. Are you kidding me? I have been looking for Retumbo for 2 years now. Where are you guys finding it? Same for the H1000… waiting on powder to start reloading a .338 LM.
I'm going to be using retumbo in 7 rem. Mag. Currently using reloader 19 154 gr. sst With fantastic results, 3100 fps. with micharge 1 moa at 154 yds. out of a rem. 700 bdl. hunting rifle with 4x16x50 34mm arken scope
I use retumbo in 300 win mag with 220 grain sierra match kings. I bought a pound on a whim about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since. I previously used H1000 and have been getting much better results with tumbo.
I love my magnums, but as an eastern deer hunter during a component shortage, it's hard to justify shooting them over the smaller or more intermediate cartridges. All that said, I really enjoy my 7 mag, and I my just have to try some Retumbo in it.
Excellent vid & review. I have only recently used Retumbo because I wasn't able to get H1000 for my 7mmRemMag. I am pleased & impressed with my load development & results. I have only used it with 162g. ELDX. Excellent groups & decent SDs. I have an interesting question for you gents. Over the years I have consistently observed H1000 apparently "heating" up barrel quite quickly. It is noticably heating up faster than the 4350 & 4831 powders I have used mostly. Accuracy seemed to be hindered after 4 shots with most charges. Retumbo surprised me. My 2nd 5 shot groups were as good or better than the first. That has not been the case(for me) with H1000. I need to give the barrel a good bit of time to cool after first 5 shot group if I want follow groups to stay consistent & tighter. Any thoughts or suggestions? Well done men. Thank you.
Why not get a muzzle brake? Large magnums really benefit from a brake more than other cartridges. You can get up to 60% recoil reduction if you choose the right brake. All brakes are not equal, so you need to do some research.
I’ve used reloder 22 as well in my 7 mag for years and get excellent accuracy at about 3040-3050 fps with 162 eld-x. Reloder 26 is my go to powder now for my 7 mag though because I’m getting right at 3200 fps with the same bullets and my accuracy is still excellent. I’ve used retumbo for my 7 as well and actually got the best velocity out of it compared to any other powder I’ve used. However, the accuracy wasn’t there in my rifle so that’s why I stick with reloder 26 & 22.
@@matrix5175 re26 is like magic velocity powder!!! A friend uses it in a couple calibers to down right insane velocities!!! I have not seen any to try.
Once I’m out of factory ammo, gonna work up a load for my 7RM using this powder. Sierra has good load data using their 160 grain GameKing HP. Assuming it groups well, should be devastating on PA whitetails at just about any range.
I am using Retumbo in a couple of 338 Lapua's I have, both with 93.5 grains. One rifle with 300 grain Berger Elite Hunters going 2835 fps, kills moose dead from a long ways away and close as well, ask me how I know. lol. The other rifle shoots the Hornady 285 ELD-M at 2866 fps. and is also crazy accurate.
This is my go to powder for 300RUM and 338 edge. Great speed and accuracy!! Sorry to hear you guys dont like the 300rum. Mine has a great break on it. I've been carrying and shooting it for close to 20yrs. It's just a regular Remington 700bdl but it soots sub moa. I'll never get rid of it. It's taken 100's of animals. Most never even took one step after I pulled the trigger.
@@umpquablades I'm so glad to hear that. Ive read so many times online about people not being able to handle it. Once I put a break on the rum it was a real pleasure to shoot!! At the time powder was 18.00 to 22.00 per lbs. I would NEVER give up my rum!!!!
Those 30 caliber magnums drop em dead in their tracks. Only problem is that is one hell of a hole coming out the other side and a waste of meat. I love the magnums but when hunting shorter ranges where I don't need all that power I power down. Good to know the powder does well for you.
@@garrytalley8009 I didn't want to buy a whole bunch of different rifles. I’d seriously drive 1000 minutes to buy Retumbo off the shelf. Where in the nine hells did you find it?
@@biggs8729 How close are you to NJ?
@@chaddfry5345 a lot more than a thousand miles. Thanks anyway
I use it for a 7x375 ruger. It is a great powder.
Never used it because I can’t get any. The powder that I’m can get is Accurate MagPro for my 338 Lapua Magnum. I’m shooting a 285 grs. Hornady ELD MATCH bullet and Cutting Edge 277 grs. MTAC
Just picked up an 8lb jug of retumbo for the first time today. Hoping to try it in my Winchester model 70 300 Weatherby. 210 grain accubonds and 210grain Berger VLD!
Lol, good gd luck finding it anywhere! I've only found 2 lbs in the last 2 years. I get 3140 fps out of my 300rum with 225gr elds.
Thank you.
i was wondering where you can even get reloading supplies anymore. all the normal suppliers have been out of stock for way to long.
Been using it for my Sako 75 Hunter 26" barrel 300 RUM for a long time!! Nosler 200gr Partition with 93gr Retumbo. Hard on the shoulder!
Why not get a muzzle brake? Large magnums really benefit from a brake more than other cartridges. You can get up to 60% recoil reduction if you choose the right brake. All brakes are not equal, so you need to do some research.
Haven't tried Retumbo yet. I've been running Reloader 22 in my 6.5 PRC. 52.3 grains with either a 140 Accubond, or Eldm equals sub moa all day long.
I use H4831 for my 7mm rem mag , but you've given me another option to try.
RE22 is my go to for my 7Maggie. I use the 162 Hornady and 160 Speer 100%. Right @ 3K. MOA accuracy too!
I use retumbo for my 37XC rifle for ELR. 117gn with 420gn Peregrine glider @ 2820fps with sd4 es12 over 20shots. Great powder.
I use it on my 22 SAUM. Love it
Would this be a choice for a 270 Ackley or Sherman. I've got my best colocity out of imr 7977
I use retumbo for 300 RUM. 220gr Sierra MK little over 3000 fps. Groups are 3/4 moa and a little better when I do my part.
Enjoyed video on Retumbo. Could only get one pounder, but grabbed 8lb of RL26.
Where in the world did you find RL26?
Where???
This is my go to powder for 300RUM and 338 edge. Great speed and accuracy!! Sorry to hear you guys dont like the 300rum. Mine has a great break on it. I've been carrying and shooting it for close to 20yrs. It's just a regular Remington 700bdl but it soots sub moa. I'll never get rid of it. It's taken 100's of animals. Most never even took one step after I pulled the trigger.
I love my old 300 RUM and just received my new 300 RUM from Jim Borden about a month ago. Pretty excited to get out and shoot it.
@@umpquablades I'm so glad to hear that. Ive read so many times online about people not being able to handle it. Once I put a break on the rum it was a real pleasure to shoot!! And reloading for it was really affordable!!! Years ago after the sandy hook ammo shortage was over i bought TONS of brass, powder, primers and 220gr heads for it.
I wanted a rifle that I could reload ammo for and successfully shoot 200 lb animals all the way up to grizzly bear or possibly African game. There are so many different types of 30 caliber heads. I have shot 100 lb animals at 75 yards with no exit wound.
Retumbo works good for the 28 NOSLER, 195 Berger EOLs. Retumbo, H1000 have good burn rates for that combo.
I use H 1000 also R 26 for my Mag Bullets.
retumbo is the rebranded AR2225 i use it in a 300RUM with a 208AMAX and get a 5 fps difference in 10 shots
You can't beat good ol Aussie powder
@5:00 that case perfectly bouncing on the table and landing upright. Probably watched it 10 times
I've used Retumbo for years, BUT I haven't been able to find it for several YEARS!
love retumbo and N570 in 300 norma
7MM Rem Mag. Always used IMR 4350, then switched to H 4350 when IMR got hard to find. I will certainly try Retumbo when I run low.
Do some 6.8 western load data
7mm Rem Mag with a 168gr Berger, cci 250 primer with 74 gr of Retumbo works phenomenal.
Barrel length and velocity?
@@WesternReloader 24” getting 2960fps. A factory HS Precision.
@@joshuamorigeau1090 I know 7mag has more capacity, but I wonder how a 6.8 western 26” barrel with a 170 would do
@@WesternReloader I haven’t tangled with a 6.8 yet, but I’m interested in one. The UR crew have great info out there for starting to work up some loads for testing. What are you looking to get from it?
I used Retumbo in my 243 F Class rifle with 107 SMK.
Retumbo is great with 7mm rem mag, 180 gr berger vld...
I would like to see everything and anything 300prc. Thanks.
The only powders that I have found in local stores are imr 3031 and 50bmg. Nothing else has ever been in stock.
Never in stock though. That is why I am using LRT. It's in stock more often.
How would you describe your experience with LRT?
@@GripEngineering I just got into shooting about 1.5 years ago, so it is the only magnum powder I have experience with. I have nothing to compare it to. I will tell you that I love how easy it is to measure and work with in general.
Love your videos.
I reload myself, (9mm, 223/5.56, 300 Savage, 308 win., 300blk) was getting pretty good at it until I ran out of primers.
Our my reloading days over due to primer shortage?
There's plenty of primers out there.
I use Retumbo in my Nosler M48 rifle chambered in .28 Nosler. The preferred load fuels a 168 grain Nosler AccuBond LR tipped cartridge at well over 3200 fps. I tried force feeding it the same bullet with H1000, H4831, and US869, because that's what I had at the time. It refused to perform. Now it shoots flat and hard hitting sub half inch groups all day long.
I tried it in my .30-378 Wby with 180 grain AccuBond bullets, but wasn't impressed. It likes H50BMG much better. Just goes to show you, handloading is the only way to get the maximum use out of the big bangers. Just like a baby, you never know what it's going to like best until you try feeding it different food. I call it the Gerber Theory. [Laffin' 😄]
Do they still make 4895 haven’t been able to find it in 4 years
I’ve been shooting 338LM since 2012, and in the last 10 years have NEVER been able to actually buy any because it’s been out of stock for the last ten years. (I only buy 8lb jugs) found out VV N-570 is much easier to get. Also meaning to try N-565 which will also be easier to find in stock. Go figure.
You mentioned Vit n570 was easier to find . Mind me asking where I might be able to obtain some of that N570. I have been looking for a while and come up with zip. Thanks much
285 grain BLD Match, and 300 grain A-Tip
How about some 6.8 Western reloading data? Thanks!
I'm looking to try Retumbo in my 6.5-300 with a Berger 135 classic hunter. Any insight you could give would be much appreciated.
Would that there ever is any in stock to be purchased
Wish they would make more retumbo very very hard to find
Do you think retumbo would be good with a 7prc and 175 eldx
weatherby Mark V 7mm rem mag 26" Bartlein barrel 72.2 gr Retumbo 180gr ELDM @3100fps
I didn't like it on the lighter bullets though, it left an imprint of the bolt on the case. The heavy bullets work great though.
Please send link of where to buy..
I wonder how it will work in a 25 WSSM with a 20 in. Barrel behind a 115 ballistic tip
Guy Miner is Mister Cool. He should be in Hollywood.
Ha! Thanks.
I run Retumbo in my 7mm STW with 175gr ABLR @3175 fps
Another great powder from the Australians, works very well in my 375 Cheytac :)
Yep it's ADI AR2225 here in Oz. Rebadged as retumbo overseas.
Well we wont be reloading much this year. Vista outdoors announced they will not be selling anymore primers to the public the rest of this year. They are CCI, REMINGTON, and FEDERAL primers... Im going to hold on to my primers for now..
This guy must either have a direct connection to Hogdon or is incredibly lucky to have bought it when times when were good
Wrong (:
I’ll give you a hint. You need to be fast online.
I use Retumbo in my Savage 110 UL 6.5PRC with Berger 156EOL and 143 ELDX. Magnum seems to produce better results with my Nosler 150 ABLR’s.
Like it for my 264 mag best accuracy with 140sst at just over 3000 fps less than 3/4in
Found RE33 more efficient with higher MV for my 338 LAPUA.
700 Rem Sendero in 300 RUM with 190 and 210 Berger as well as 205 Badlands Precision. 500yds+ and the deer drop in their tracks.
