I just passed my test and all your videos were a huge help out of all of the ones I saw yours were the more precise to the American Red Cross packet Thank you !!!!!!!
Today I took my test with California ARC i passed my written test failed skills hand washing I failed because while I pat dried my hand I did good I pat dried from finger tips up towards my wrist then I started pat drying down towards my fingers with the same towel that's where I failed so remember pat dry from finger tips up towards your wrist do not pat dry back down with the same towel get a new one to thoroughly dry your hands
I took my test today in Fresno CA and I passed!!!! I’m a CNA I watched these videos over and over they helped me so much to get and idea what to expect and ways to do it.
They (The State Board) take you though so much to be a CNA😲 But.. Fail the client in theses nursing homes!! Because none of theses procedures are being used I went there !! I was sadden and SICK!! Not enough towels, sheets, pad, pampers and NO WIPES PERIOD!!😡 some equipment have not working in over four years!! I was told.😤 Even hospitals.. When I did my shadowing they are not requiring more from NURSING and CNA!!
These videos saved my ass. The first time I took the test I failed because I didn't pay attention in class....... But now that I watched each video PASSED MY SKILLS TEST.

Interestingly enough, in Canada (Manitoba anyway), there is no initial requirement to "use a paper towel to turn on the taps". I believe this isn't a factor, as it's apparent already that those taps are contaminated, and you're using your contaminated hands to turn them on. Turning them off with a paper towel at least ensures that your clean hands remain clean. It doesn't make much sense to me regarding not turning the taps on using paper towels, as this would help keep the amount of contamination on the taps lower than [what they are when you begin washing your hands]. This is fascinating to hear different responses from different States. And thanks for the training videos! I'm taking my Health Care Aide distance ed, and there is no hands-on training-until I take my lab test! So these videos are a huge help :) You rock, thanks!
Jewelry on your fingers and wrists can serve as a nest for germs. Think about leaving your rings at home and sliding your watch above your wrist when you wash your hands
During the mechanical removal (lathering), it is a good idea to bend your fingers, to open your knuckle creases, especially if you are overweight or older. Perhaps she should have removed, or at least moved, her ring to expose the filth trap underneath. Finally, rinse from clean to dirty (tips to wrist), or explain why you shouldn't. Also when you dry (as you started), but don't go back!
After she scrubs her fingernails then goes for washing / rinsing / lathering her wrist is that the correct order , or should it really be (hands, fingertips palms, wrist then fingernails etc ?

I would use one paper towel for turning off the cold and another one for the hot water. I think she touched the side that was touching the facet when she switched to the other hand.
You re-contaminated turning off the sink by exchanging the paper towel between hands to turn it off, the sink knobs are dirty so why do you use both hands?
Great video but, it is a minimum of 20 seconds scrubbing your hands or else you fail the state exam. Even cna classes often explain 20 seconds! They make it a huge deal for you to understand that it is 20 seconds. Great videos though.
Good basic job, once you use the paper towel to touch the faucet (to turn off water), it should not touch your other kind being that it is now contaminated. Drying your hands from finger tip to wrist would only make sense if you dry you omit going back and forth. The idea is cleanest to dirtiest, so one would pay dry from finger tip toward wrist and then discard the paper towel.
You definitely did a serious bad cross contamination when you turned the faucet off with one paper towel and transfer the inner part of the used paper towel that touched the first faucet on the left, to your cleaned right hand! Before that, you also did other cross contamination when you dried too far up above your wrist and then using the same paper towel to clean the inner part of your fingers. Too obvious. If I were the testing nurse... you are fail right there! Sorry!
ok u suppose to use paper towel to turn on then turn off then door handle also using a paper towel then also pat dry going downwards frin wrist not upwards thats the state in Michgan to pass ..😙
+Jacqueline Shuahtrah I currently do not have skill #2. I'll try to have that up as soon as I can. It's kind of hard to find the time to finish the next videos when I have to help with the students currently in session at our facility, and find willing participants that want to be in the videos.

WTF is this first world law shit?!. Is Michigan some germ free paradise?. It seems 90% of these people do it for the sake of the law without understanding. The goal is to keep the things as clean as possible. That's why many surgical theaters have motion detection faucets coz surgeons just can't risk mistakes like this. Moreover it's an excellent way to save water.
+Joe and Cristina .Engagement Hello. Thank you for your comment but this demonstration is simply going off of the directions given to students from the State Test Provider: The American Red Cross from the Skills Packet given to students to help them review for the state test. If you are making this comment out of what you were told by the test evaluator then students will directed to do so when they go to the test. If this comment is just coming from you own perspective for water conversation that instruction may cause a student to fail. It is better to stick to what the evaluators instructed in the packet unless told on the spot to do otherwise.
What a waste of water and paper!!! The first thing to do is use a paper towel to shut the water, and never “all the paper that you want”... water and trees are precious!

It should be as complicated as necessary to ensure proper hygiene, no less.
It's extremely complicated
It's supposed to be 20 seconds, and you didn't scrub your thumb nails

In Maryland you dry fingers, dry palm bringing it to around to your hand and around to wrist then discard.

The only thing that frustrates me is why not turn off the tap at first and than dry both hands
you're supposed to turn on the water with a paper towel
