Wow! What a cool car! I did not know they had a tachometer! You mentioned Glenn Pray- in 1966 he brought out the Cord 8/10, named that because it was 8/10ths the size of the original Cord. It used a new material for the body called Royalex, a kind of plastic. Pray kept the front wheel drive, using a Corvair power train mounted in the front. A turbo Corvair engine was an option, and you got external side pipes with the turbo. WYR= I can't afford any of them, but I'd take the Cord over all the others, with the Stutz DV32 in second. I can't wait to see the L29 Cord! Oh, and thank you for dubbing over your part where you talk about styling. Too many people have no respect for others who are trying to take videos and just gab away while they are right next to you.

Stylish Auburn has nice flowing style, those 30's dashes were a work of art.First pick 36 Cord 812 ,second the 33 Stutz 32 Monte Carlo. Seen a red 36 Auburn same body non supercharged 8 years ago. Great episode keep em coming.
I agree...this car was made thoughtfully and as an aesthetic wonder. I went through all 82 pages on the company's website, hoping that they might show the interior of the glove box. The glove box door is a tour de force, and is spectacular. I wonder if Jay has reviewed the 1933 Stutz 4 door... if not, I hope it gets a complete review.
Packard of course and the Imperial on the other group! It's nice that you put the Airflow and Zephyr in this because it shows how radical those cars were compared to everything else in 1936!
The styling and “cosmetics” on that car are just wonderful, typified by that beautifully designed instrument panel. It must also have been a fun car to drive, with the supercharged power, the fold-down front windshield and the open top. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ab Jenkins owned one as a personal pleasure vehicle.

Hello Jay! You are really tugging at my ACD heart-strings! What a LOVELY Auburn! Would still love to see a super-charged coupe in that model! I cannot understand why Dual-Ratio hasn't survived. Seems like a wonderful feature to have. Maybe they weren't heavy-duty enough(?) for the more powerful, more modern engines. WYR. . .Well, in order to pick the Auburn AND the Cord, I am just going to have to be greedy and say I want them ALL! (V-12 Packard ain't no slouch either!) So. . .since I picked the Auburn in the first, I will take that RARE Stutz in the second! Those Weymann bodied cars were sleek! Plus, that DOHC engine! Whew! Digging the Scott Joplin music!
I got our tickets to the Greenfield Village car show today! Will be flying in from New York. We visited the Henry Ford Museum, the village, and the Rouge factory three years ago (not during the car show), and they were all worthwhile. The Auburn is beautiful, but for WYR, I would take the Cord and the Airflow, both for their unique design, and the Cord for its front wheel drive and preselector transmission.
I hope to see you up there if you guys see me please be sure to say hey I love meeting people =) If it’s your first time you will not be sorry it’s almost too much to take in but totally awesome
Will look forward to your tour of the Auburn. Interesting and innovative in engineering and design for the time. My favorite era for cars was from the 1930s through the 1950s. Technology of ignition and fuel systems was perfected, and modern braking and transmission designs also were implemented. I wish that some of the styling could be faithfully adapted with under the skin changes to include modern safety and emission regulations.

I love Phaetons, but by this time they were kind of going out of style. No words for how exquisite this car is which haven't been said a million times before,so right to WYR- Even as special as the 812 is, I'll take this SC852 or the Lincoln because I like their styling better. Then the Stutz,even though it's older it's beautiful for it's year.

The original phaetons had a more distinct separation inside between the front seat and the rear passenger area, often like a body shell was added to the back of a rag-top roadster. And they were longer than convertibles too which is what gave them the distinct look I like.
Hi Jay. I once dated a girl who showed me her father's garage, and in it was a 35/36 Auburn roadster, a basement model with flathead six, awaiting restoration. All the publicity seems to go to the supercharged ones with chrome exhausts. But if you stumble across a basement one, I'd be very interested to see it to refresh my memory on the car I saw decades ago. Cheers.

Just a model year I believe, the 1935s were 851 series the 36 and beyond where just carry overs But worth pointing out the “6” in 654 and the “8” in 852 are number of cylinders

The cars are like toys from the 90s now or at least same plastic feel… they put a premium on plastic like a plastic bumper costs more than a steel one for some reason.. and people are none the wiser because they never knew what a quality car was

Packard first choice because of the quality and engineering, Imperial is my 2nd choice as likewise just as rare as the Auburns

As for pricing: it seems that cost of automobiles in the 1950s were relatively less compared to other costs of living than in the 1930s or today.
