In Taiwan, there are three major types of dumplings. - The mainstream style, shape like a croissant, is boiled in water. Hence the name, water dumpling. - The fried one, long and flat, is called pot-sticker. - The soup dumping, on the other hand, is round and usually steamed. I love dumplings too, it’s a torture watching you guys eat in the middle of the night here in L.A😂.
I'm Taiwanese currently living in Adelaide SA. I love your videos of the tour of Taiwan! I did it before moving to Australia and it was the best experience ever! I can't wait to see your videos of the east coast (Taitung, Hualien, and Yilan). The east coast is just stunning and I'm sure you'll love it.
I’m so sorry the bus didn’t give way to Max. Taiwanese are kind, generous and friendly, but when it comes to driving it’s different story. Another high quality video. Cheers
I was fortunate to enjoy Taiwan fresh fruit and vegetables for 50 years. When we have dumplings they always sell small vegetable dishes like picked cucumbers 泡黄瓜烤麸海蜇皮etc. You should try them. All are great. You should eat more of Taiwan great vegetables, rare in the West. And so cheap. Common in Taiwan. Every meal we have fresh fruit and vegetables.
Be careful the traffic ,if any help ask nearby Taiwanese ,enjoying the landscape ,food and cultural ,both of you did a good job by using bicycle around Taiwan。😊
You did a decent job pronunciation wise with the coffee! She just wanted to make sure you really wanted black coffee with no milk. With the small size, the person helping told her small size in Taiwanese instead of mandarin. As you go more south, more and more people especially the older generation only speak Taiwanese. They can understand Chinese, they just have their preference haha. They may speak and understand Japanese too! One time I went to Taiwan with another fellow American Taiwanese friend. Her family was from Taipei and mine from Tainan. She could understand all the mandarin and English spoken in Taipei. But when we went to Tainan we had to reply on my Taiwanese with the older people. It’s pretty funny with fruits in Taiwan. There’s certain ones that are so common where I live (tomatoes, strawberries, and apparently apples?), that I don’t think about it when I go to Taiwan that it’s not as common there. And therefore it’s super expensive. But what’s exotic here isn’t there, and it’s cheap and 10 times as delicious (lychees, wax apples, mangos, guava, etc) Tainan traffic circles are something else. I have no idea how a 3-5 lane traffic circle works and is why I will never drive in Tainan haha Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s video, Tainan is my family’s hometown!
Wow that is so nice of you. Thank you for all the details that's so cool and we had no idea. Thank you so much let us know what you think of later today's video. We'd love to hear your feedback on it 😀
The locals probably said “Jia Yo” (加油)which translates literally as “add fuel”. This is a common expression in Chinese to encourage you to keep going, keep it up, don’t fall behind, etc. If you see fellow cyclists on the road you can say the same thing to them, and they’d probably respond in kind.

The soup dumpling is king 👑 but Max likes the pot stickers best! Sorry to make you hungry! Hopefully you have some good xiao long bao in LA!
People are probably saying 加油 JiaYou to you, which means 'Add Oil', which is an encouragement!
Love Taiwan.
Yes! That’s what they were saying!

9:58 Me too. (I'm local people)
Ahhh it was our first really scary moment on the bikes 😣 I’m not sure if we did something 🤷♀️
@@MaxandJacqueline I don't like the roundabout design. Traffic in Taiwan is sometimes dangerous, be careful.
Amazing video , and congratulation.

Sounds like what they were saying. Very cool it was so nice to have encouragement even if we couldn’t understand exactly ☺️

Only young people , the Starbucks crowd pay up to NT$100 for a coffee or bubble tea. Older folks enjoy a meal for NT$100 plus free hot tea.

Maybe he just didn’t see us, it might not have been done intentionally 🫶
