Have you ever thought of Mike looking and talking like Gargamel from The Smurfs? 😂
Have you got a cat perhaps, Mike? :)
Boo to this one
@One Stop Co-op Shop Hahaha, blame ShelfClutter for the look-a-like contest.
I love ya man, just as I love black cats! 😉
Are those Paul Rudd’s hands?! 😊
Who or what unleashed all these hand comments? Not that I mind :)
@@OneStopCoopShop Shelf clutter sent us here
Thanks for the great video, Mike! 🐙
Good luck with the campaign, Henry!
This game looks really intriguing to me, and this was a great Preview so thanks! Anyone ever tell you that you look like Penn Badgley, but with a little less hair? ;)
Hahaha, actually YES! A bunch of my students watch You and have said I look like that guy... not the best look for me 😅😅
This looks like a very cute little engine builder. I really like the sci-fi-movie-poster ascetic of the cards. Also, you may be Joey Tribiani's "identical hand twin".
I should have been a hand model... like David Duchovny!
I've always thought of Mike as a version of Justin Long even his voice reminds me of him.
Nice vid !
Mike you look like Haley Joel Osment!
Wonderful video!
Anyone ever tell you look exactly like Juan Loco? He's got a dog companion named Gunner!
Love the content and Happy Halloween! 🎃
Hey, that’s a callback that perhaps I alone would get and appreciate 😂😂😂
This game looks fun as hell!
Sounds and looks like Ethan Hunt. Nice to have Tom Cruise on board!
Tom's a bit weird in his personal life, but if I get to climb tall buildings and hang off of planes I'm down
Mike reminds me of Thing from The Addams Family. Am I right???!?!
this guy looks exactly like mike what
LOL THIS IS GENIUS
Ngl this did make me laugh a bit..
@@evlionnnn5837 i tried to find the closest similarity i could find hehe :)
@@aquinium8208 im glad i was able to do that for you :)
I thoguht he also looked like Mike, what a coincidence
I *really* appreciate your honesty in your previews. It seems we have similar tastes in solo games. I'm still trying very hard to find a reason to back this one because I love the theme and components, but the solo variant (which is how it will likely be played 99 out of 100 times) just doesn't feel dynamic enoough. As you say, it seems too easy to just keep abusing the same board tiles.
The dynamics often come from managing the market to avoid the PI building up the same resources, but that won’t be enough for everybody :)
Hi John; Chris (developer) here. Just wanted to echo what Henry was saying in a comment below; if you're looking for the card row to cycle out more, you can choose one of the alternative 'special' Inky Realm tiles that plays with that dynamic. One lets you discard the card row and gain a resource matching each card discarded, another let's you take all cards of the same type from the row. This really startes to change how the row feels, and how dangerous the PI is :) Thanks very much for watching the video and for your thoughts!
@@paperfortgames Thanks Chris, I was hoping you'd offer your thoughts here. :) I really do want to back this, so I'm sure you'll see my name on the shipping list soon. It also seems like it will be fairly simple to houserule, and I'm sure BGG players will be able to offer some useful variants in that regard. Cheers!
Don't mind me, just here for the giveaway of this amazing game
Thanks Mike.
If only the Cosmoctopus wasn't so cute, I wouldn't be a cultist!
He planned his marketing strategy well.
I just picked this up at GenCon. I'm a little confused by how the PI works though in terms of the 13+ resources and 8+ resources. I'm interpreting it as soon as 8 of a single resource is hit, the PI gets a tentacle. I'm confused how the PI would get 13 and also why that is step 2 vs step 3....
Hm, I remember it confused me at first too... but now I can't remember what their answer was when I asked! Probably best to go on boardgamegeek and find out.
Is the board setup random or fixed in setup?
It looks neat, and i especially like the constellations mechanic of pulling resources in different orders to activate. I do wonder if the solo needs some form of card cycling and/or octopus movement from the AI player to make it feel more real. Obviously I'm unsure how often that card cycling happens in multiplayer, but the movement is certainly there.
Maybe it was just your shuffle was heavy on the interaction with the discard, but especially with no card cycling from the solo bot, I feel like you need to seed the discard with something in order for those discard interactions to work. And/or some option to discard a card in hand for one of that color resource.
Overall lovely playthrough and neat design.
Board setup is randomized, and there is one tile that is different each game. But I agree more card cycling would be a good addition, and it’s easy for them to add something ;)
Hello, Plaid Flannel Geek! You can discard cards from hand to discount other cards. Generally speaking, the investigator prefers it when the card row doesn't change so that they can repeatedly collect resources of the same types. It's up to you to cycle out the row at key moments, like when the investigator is about to gain a tentacle. That becomes especially important in the higher difficulties where they put more pressure on the Forbidden Knowledge. There are also special Inky Realm tiles can cycle the row more quickly, like the "Draw 2 cards of the same type" tile shown in the playthrough. You can also use several Hallucinations or the submerge cards to rapidly cycle out the row. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts :)
What about randomly re-distributing the spaces OR rotating them clockwise after the AI reaches a certain threshold?
I’m not sure what you are asking this in reference to? Is this a suggested houserule to vary up the board play against the AI?
@@OneStopCoopShop Yes. Sorry. To make it more interesting perhaps. 🙂
Hello! Chris (developer) here! You'll note in this video that the basic 3x3 Inky Realm is being used. This the easiest configuration as you can go back and forth very easily. This does allow you to exploit 'tapping' a tile. However, in the more advanced tle layouts, this becomes more challenging, and planning where you are and where you need to be becomes a bigger part of the solo experience. For example, one of the Inky Relam configurations is a circle, thus getting around suddenly becomes much harder. Thanks for watching the video and for the suggestions! :)
Nice!!!
Mike looks a bit like Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim!)
I was about to say, if it's Scott Pilgrim's Cera, I accept. Otherwise, maybe not!
This game has piqued my interest… great preview.
Also it was suggested we tell you your celebration look alike by shelf clutter… and since only your hand is in this video
The thing from Addams Family
Haha, I'll take that comparison with pride :)
The best Loo-a-like I could come up with was tobey maguire
Bully Maguire? :)
Mike looks like Kyle McLachlan… check out Twin Peaks!
I approve of this one as well. Though for me it’s all about Lynch’s Dune 😜
Mike, did you realise you look like Steve Guttenberg!
Well, going exclusively off of what I see in this video, I'm going to have to say he looks like the most like Ethan Winters from Resident Evil 7 and 8
Should I add some more stitches to my wrist???
Hey Mike, I know this is off topic, but I was able to purchase your game Mega Man Adventures online from Barnes & Noble today. It's supposed to arrive in about a week. 🙂
Awesome! I'm still waiting for my designer copies from Blacklist, but I hope you enjoy it!!
@@OneStopCoopShop I'm looking forward to it! I guess that means I'll need to watch your playthrough(s) again. If I remember right, you had a solo playthrough, but also I think you played with Alex Radcliff and ... someone else I'm not recalling right now.
@@johnwaynemcclung8056 I think it was Alex and Jeremy Howard (man vs. meeple)
@@OneStopCoopShop Oh, I think that's right! That's one awesome trio of creators playing together! That makes me look forward to seeing that replay again. I am a solo player, but I still found it cool to see both iterations of the game.
Thanks for the great coverage. Does not resemble anyone, well maybe a bit like Beaker from the Muppets.
Geez, I hope it's not my voice you mean!
you kind of look Joey Vigour who is a game designer. I'm sorry, I'm bad at this.
You should show your face more! I mean your hands are fantastic but you look like one of the Hemsworth brothers!
nathan fillion
THAT is one I'm very happy with ;)
