Played with 4 players. Way too long for what the game is with not enough payoff. It feels like it should’ve been so much more of a rewarding experience, but I also found myself very disinterested when it wasn’t my turn. The frustrating part about that, is that players can easily accidentally overlook something or misunderstand a rule. Early on in the game there was too much “undoing” turns once we had the “oh ya” moment, but as the game went on (with the same problems) nobody cared to pay the attention and focus required to keep track of if everyone was truly resolving everything properly. Overall, there are many more games with similar feels that provide way more payoff for less. (Splendor, Machi Koro, etc.)
Yeah, we find most games don't work as well at top end player counts, especially with specific extra player expansions. They usually work, but often drag. There are some exceptions of course, but that is really common.
Crazy cool theme and sounded so good until I heard your final scores. Good but not great? I have so many of those games now. Still, it looks really neat. I'm going to want to check it out and maybe (somehow) get a play in before making a final decision.
I've played it twice now and it barely feels like there were scores. It was a race to get going and then someone finally gets everything lined up to win. My second game I was in last for the entire game but then in the last two rounds my engine lined up and my hand was able to chain properly. I went from three tentacles, to six, to eleven.
Thanks for playing and sharing your thoughts! Keep it inky ✨🐙✨
Love Cultist Chris and Zealot Zee.
I can’t wait for this one to come in! Wonder how the solo mode works and how much fun it will be. Did any of you try it at that?
Cant wait for my copy to arrive!
Thank you!! First time I saw this game, I immediately thought of the cards from Campy Creatures.
Where is the plushie?!
I'm sorry, but the correct rating, no matter how much you like the game, is an *8.* Prepare to be cast out from the cult and into His Inky Oblivion.
Fitting that it looks like a Keymaster game, given that it's from the designer of Parks.
Nice to see a review of this, hopefully that means it will be shipping soon. Will you be doing a solo play through of this game?

I just had a flashback to the 'technical difficulties' screen...if you know - you know
Campy Creatures, the monster game
What’s the name of that font?

Zee's right, all conversation should cease once the box is opened until everything is neatly packed away afterwards
This is really cute
