- Dare County North Carolina has a full-service EMS program. Dare County EMS features both a ground ambulance service and a flight program that has very few rivals. Rest assured that if you ever head to the Outer Banks for a vacation you will be well cared for in any emergency you might find yourself in. Dare County EMS was gracious enough to allow HND a look inside their pride and joy, an Airbus H145D3. It's not only beautiful to look at it; was a dream to ride in. Take just a few minutes to see inside the craft plus you get a Birdseye view of the entire island. Chief Pilot Kirt Willenbacher flies us around and explains the features of the aircraft while Paramedics Brett Barnett and Nick Brady tell us about their careers of being flight medics for Dare County EMS in NC.
If you are interested in becoming part of the tea at Dare County EMS service please reach out to Chief Jennie Collins and apply today. Jennie is one of the most knowledgeable and kind Chiefs we have come across. You will not be disappointed in speaking with her. Click the link below;

Between 2024 and 2026, Swiss Air-Rescue Rega plans to modernise its entire helicopter fleet and in future operate a single-type fleet comprising 21 rescue helicopters in the latest, five-blade version of the H145 manufactured by Airbus Helicopters. Already in March this year, Rega purchased nine H145 helicopters with the innovative five-blade rotor
Mike I am a retired police officer from South Florida and I appreciate what you do. Thank you for bringing awareness to the public with your videos. Happy New Year!
I appreciate that and you are welcome. We just hope we can continue to bring more. Every like and share helps us achieve that goal
Got life flighted saved my life thanks for the ride rembered in the helicopter and the landing and being in the truma center thanks
Seeing the maps in this video and the previous one, along with the footage from the helicopter really brings home how vital the medflight chopper must be.
I love Dare Co, N.C I’m a Former volunteer Medic and Firefighter I have deal with there team they are truly amazing people! God Bless our N.C Medic and EMT!
11:45 awesome choice on the music. Brings back so many memories of Nintendo and Sega helicopter games, TV shows like Airwolf and it’s FL so also reminds me of Miami Vice.
I thought airwolf for sure
I worked with dare med flight a couple time in my old job at a trauma center in Virginia Beach. The crews are so friendly and intelligent. Thanks for giving them the spotlight!
Thanks for sharing!
Freaking AWESOME! I've worked ground EMS/Fire but always wanted to be on a Medevac crew. That bird is nothing but fantastic too! 5 blade EC145 is probably the best all around transport aircraft right now. Thanks for sharing this. I know what I will dream about tonight!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fascinating to see an EC145 in action! It's beautiful. Great questions and appreciated the subtitles. Well done! Hope you’re able to profile more helicopters. This is such great PR for Dare Co. EMS.
Its not an EC145 its a BK117 D3
You’re both almost correct, it’s an H145 D3
@@TheCraigievee Ur wrong! have you ever looked on the serial number thing on an Bk117/H145? it clearly says Bk117 D3 even EASA does.
But that’s not what it’s marketed as is it so, unless you’re in the industry, it’s an H145D3..
Love seeing everything from DARE county as this is our summer home! Love love this county! Thanks for sharing and great wrk!
Our pleasure!
They come to SNGH in Norfolk often and SNGH’S Nightingale goes down there often!
By far your best video and I absolutely love the background music gave me a top gun movie vibe. Awesome job again Mike 😅
That extra blade seems to add a significant amount of load capacity. I learned something new!
Absolutely a great video. Thanks to all the Medic crew. Love to learn how this helicopters work. I live in North Carolina. And Med Center Air flyers over my house a good bit. Prayers for each and every EMS personnel.
Cool didn’t know they had an aircraft. Thought they used Eastcare out of Greenville NC
beautiful helicopter
This is a great episode man
THE BEST OF THE STORY!!
How cool is that. I’m from nc live an hour from dare county in Washington county I see dare med flight a lot.
Very cool video and to see Nags Head area from the air is definitely cool after seeing it on the ground for a week last year on vacation
Great video and aircraft. I wish they would have talked a little on where the aircraft was outfitted at Metro Aviation in Shreveport, Louisiana who is an industry leader and innovator in making these aircraft not just an air ambulance but basically a mobile intensive care unit in the sky. They were the first to also have the Eurocopter/Airbus flight simulators at their headquarters in the United States.
Those colors remind me of Boston MedFlight, super cool video!
Mike great presentation. Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
Mike, one of the best yet. Thanks for going down there. Dare County is one of my favorite places to visit.
Mine too!
@@HeroesNextDoor truly my happy place, go down there once a year for a week. The eastbound Wright Brothers Bridge is my favorite span to cross, it's sister span going west, not so much. A bad, or cloudy/rainy day in the OBX, beats a good or sunny day at home.
Cool!
Awesome stuff
I just found your channel.... I like it....
Thanks glad you like it. Make sure to subscribe and like it helps us do more !
WAY TO GO, BROTHER MIKE ! CLOSE THE YEAR OUT WITH A BIG ,BIG BANG ! AWSOME VIDEO ! "TOP SHELF" ! THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER FINE YERR OF GREAT NEEDFUL CONTENT ! BLESSIMGS TO YOU AND YOURS ! HAPPY NEW YEAR ! CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU GOT FOR "23" ! THANK YOU SIR ! 🇺🇲
Can we get a station rigs on a command rigs?
cool stuff thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
You bet!
Dope
Awesome video Mike
Thx
Surprised they aren’t flying as a Medic/Flight RN!
I appreciate this video and the one you did on the Maryland State Trooper Paramedics. Both featured a two paramedic configuration on the helicopters. Overseas with the likes of the London HEMS, Sydney HEMS, Auckland HEMS and in Europe, they often run a one paramedic and one physician model. The latter normally has done a post graduate fellowship in Pre Hospital and Retrieval Medicine. Do services in the US ever use this model? Thanks
HEMS and Critical Care Transport in the us is typically dual Flight/CC Medic or Flight/CC Medic and an RN, for CCT though I've seen an EMT, CC Medic, and an RN; an EMT and CC Medic, etc
You should contact carillon clinic patient transport in Roanoke VA and try to do lifeguard helicopters that they have
We don’t do cold calls any longer but if they reach out we can get them scheduled
Totally agree! I've had only positive encounters with lifeguard crews. They're always professional and work seamlessly together. Lifeguard 10 would be awesome to see, especially considering the location of the hanger at Smith Mountain Lake.
@@MackLee23 yes they are a very professional crew i love how they do scene flights and multi state interfacility transports.
Interesting. I live in south germany, we have similar helis, but they are also operating in bad weather 😁
Is it me or the sound of this video is extremely low, I had to crank up my speakers to their max to hear anything, and now all my neigboors are angry cause I forgot to crank it down to watch another video.
Same here. Great video but volume was definitely low.
Wood you be interested in seeing Speedway fire rescue does we covere stock cars races at 7 race track in Iowa
Yeah send an invite !!!!
Hope to see Nags head fire and lifeguard rescue soon on here! #heroesnextdoor
We need that invite !
Is the pilot a paramedic too? I've heard various answers to this. Some prefer the pilot to *only* be a pilot so as not to get distracted by the scene dynamics. Stay unifocused to piloting the aircraft. This is no easy mission. EMS air op''s has 2 to 3 X accident ratio than other heli op's.
Not usually for the reason you stated. Everyone usually wants one another focused on their job.
Is it more or do I remember that chief from another video
She is the chief in the video from 2weeks ago
Hey you should do onancock volunteer fire department
Have them send us the invite

I'm curious why the NVG's are needed if they are VFR ONLY?
Safety
VFR applies to night flight as well, NVG's are used to safely fly at night in VFR conditions.
Hi
To bad y’all didn’t catch a call while y’all were out
First
No one cares who is first anymore. It’s outdated. Your just embarrassing yourself.

No nurse?
Nope no need. All the staff have critical care training
