We flew different paths... and I regretted mine. 😬

Passed my PPL checkride 1 week ago today! Took my wife up today as my first passenger today! Then Aviation101 drops a video today! It's been a good day :-)
Congratulations
Congratulations!
It's a good day when Aviation101 drops..
Couldn't agree more.
Best part of the week when your a student pilot in High school with no friends 😅
@@LazyDog_937 Felt that 😂. Keep at it!
Thanks I live and breath aviation 😂
Great video! Josh, your editing is amazing! Love watching you two in these videos!
The 150 is beautiful! Congratulations on the job.
A gorgeous retro look.
Hey Josh! Was taxiing out in the citation in Kingman when y'all landed. We picked up a significant amount of mixed ice at 11,000 while holding getting into IGM, had to deploy the boots 3 times to break it all off after only doing one lap in the hold. Glad y'all made it in safe
@Aviation101 - so you know…my wife, son and I love your channel!
I love that “Otto” pilot is sitting next to you with his iconic smirk. Nice to see the Airplane! nod.
Hopefully neither of you had the fish!
I have the inflatable 'Otto', but would like to find the plush- or pillow version. Anybody have a source for that???
@@miloswanson9646if I had to guess, Amazon
Another great flight. Love the new paint job on the 150. Chelsea I found a Cessna brochure I had from 1973. The cost new for a 150 Commuter was $12,550 and a new Skyhawk was $15,875! Blue skies to both of you!
Well, median income was at a different level too. When plugged into an inflation calculator, one gets that this price for a 172 in $112,500 in 2024 dollars. That compares to $400,000 for an actual new 172. Now, of course, that 172 provides more convenience and comfort -- glass panel cockpit, injected engine, and so on. So perhaps the 172 from back then compares better to a bare-bones trainer airplane, but I fail to find a 4-seater that's available new and provides similar ruggedness and all-around utility... I guess general aviation has become a more exclusive endeavor.
As someone who has been in a similar situation I understand how great Chelsea handled this flight and the significance of communicating with Josh in flight. It gives you a sense of comfort in a stressful situation and also reduces nerves. The fact that the lead plane is someone that she trust dearly with her life, made her be able to fly in such adverse weather that she mentioned she would usually wait for it to clear before flying.
Love that you both have your own personal co-pilots. Chelsea, LOVE the new paint job. Thanks for bringing me along.
Loved Chelsea's "Flying Pig" but Josh's co-pilot is a classic! Just needs the smile face......
Hah. I just noticed that for the first time. Made me smile.
…and the cigarette!
@@ernieblanchard8879 Always after a quick inflate!
Keep up the great work! You both are the best examples on UA-cam of safety through preparation and good solid judgment. Thank you for all of your hard work. Congratulations on your engagement as well.
Nice flight of 2.
150 is looking grand
Thx
You two are just magic. Happy Landing folks.
You might want to get the Dzus fastener seats checked on the oil access panel on Chelsey's 150. In flight, they are 'pulling' from the fuselage due to the low pressure over the cowling. As an ex-RAF aircraft 'tech', I'd be a lot happier if that cowling were flush when in flight. 😊
Thank you to both of you for taking us along, looking forward to every video of yours :)
Thanks for another enjoyable video. I'm glad your passengers kept quiet while you were flying and didn't disrupt the flights.
Beautiful paint job on that '66 One Fifty, just gorgeous. I miss my '67 but she gave up her life to save mine. Glad to see you guys kept route selection in mind to mitigate risk. Been to many of the airports you guys went and flown my Fifty across the entire continent several times, each was a great adventure. RIP N3131J! Fly safe!
16:39 She sound nervous...I'd be pretty worried myself. Great video! I like the adventure with family!
I think Chelsea's colour choice is perfect! Shows softness of a women and the toughness off an great mechanic! Looks amazing! Great job to both of you. Love watching the videos. Keep em coming, brother from Canada! Eh ;)
Nice vid. “Party of two?” Spending too much time making restaurant reservations? 😂
Formation flying
@@ViktorFromDKShould be “flight of two”, but it sounds like the controller was sharp and didn’t make an issue of it. We all make mistakes, especially when things get busy!
WOW, what a great video on so many levels! 25 minutes only seemed like 10! Thanks!
Amazing edit. I loved the change in audio when switching between shots in each aircraft during your conversations. That was some next level editing.
I've been watching your videos for years now. Still love to see your adventures. This one brought back memories for me too. Used to live in Bullhead City on the Colorado River not far west of Kingman. Used to spend time nosing around the airport just to see what happened to be there. I think I just missed you guys as I had to move back east a little over 2 years ago. Keep up the great work!
Always a fun watch. The views were breath taking. Thank you both for sharing. God's care and Blessings to Josh and Chelsea.
Outstanding Josh! What a blast! We all want a girlfriend-fiancé-wife who flies. You are a fortunate man sir! Looking forward to the next one!
Chelsea's 150 is probably the prettiest I've ever seen!! Inside and out! ❤ So was this flight done in February? I was surprised to see the snow-capped tops. Excellent video!!!
Just joined up to your cockpit club...I absolutely love your videos, they are a joy to watch
Good advice for flying in rapidly changing weather.
Fly safe!
Thank you both. I love your content and I learn so much.
Beautiful video and love the Josh / Chelsea twin Cessna show.
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode!
The longest formation flight involving Cessna 172 aircraft took place on September 17, 2023. A group of 10 Cessna 172s flew a distance of 1,250 nautical miles (approximately 2,315 kilometers) from a starting point in the United States to a destination in Canada. This flight set a new record for the longest formation flight conducted exclusively with Cessna 172s. The achievement highlighted the coordination and precision required for such a long-distance formation flight with a fleet of light general aviation aircraft.
Love the new video especially the formation part. Chelsea’s plane looks amazing.
Been waiting for Aviation101 to drop.. A good addition to my day. Joining cockpit club for extras
Thanks for sharing Josh. Your approach to flying in minimal weather serves the GA community very well. Unfortunately too many don't understand the risks involved around weather and just go with "aw, it be alright. we fine". End up on Probable Cause videos.
Welcome to Kentucky. If you get time or need somewhere to fly, come out and see us at KLOZ. They are having a fly in on Oct 12. Plus we have comberland falls as well.
“Party of two.” Cute, but you really should use “flight of two Cessna’s.”
Of course I’m sure you know only the lead plane should have their transponder and ADSB active, all wingmen should be off or standby. Also, when you cancel flight following, don’t forget lead squawks 1203 rather than 1200. Stay safe and have fun, formation ROCKS!!!
Great video Josh and Chelsea. Am a Cockpit Club member so I had already seen the full length but it just keeps getting better the more I watch. Looking forward to more great content.
That paint job on the 150 is fantastic. LOVE that blue.
How cool, the C-150 I first flew and soloed in 51 years ago was N3057X. Cool. Nice plane Chelsea.
It is a joy to live with your A&P and the fact that Chelsea is quite obviously a safe and careful pilot, that is a blessing too. Stop being a helicopter. She can fly!
I have been friends with Paul for over 20 years. We met when he was in Manning, SC . I have brought a couple of sailplanes and a SR 22 out from SC for him to do composite repairs on.them.
My first airplane purchase was a 1976 Cessna 150 Commuter. purchased in 1976. new. Got my private in it. Traded it back for a new 1977 Cessna Skyhawk. Have a 1977 Cessna 177B the last 37 Years. Nothing like flying. Fly while you can .
Great video, good mixture of cockpit view exterior views from the airplane with landscapes, mountains and weather all around. Gives us viewers a little situational awareness. So enjoyable.
Josh & Chelsea your content is pure love for aviation & cinematography guys. 😍❤
I fly large cabin Gulfstreams and a little 172. I’m with Chelsea, “oh, I see a rain cloud today, I’m landing” when I’m single pilot, single engine! I’m with you kid.
Absolute pleasure to meet you two at Oshkosh, love the new paint scheme, your fan from England. Steve.
Awesome video Josh! You two make such a great couple! Teamwork all the way.
Chelsea's 150 is beautiful. Love the color.
Oh and Otto copiloting for Josh. EPIC! 😁
Loving the quality of this video.
Keep it up 💪
LGF!!! Lets Go Flying
Just a shared thought on supporting. I've watched Josh it seems like forever LOL It actually was even long before the channel name change. I also just love it that Chelsea and Josh found each other. That's so cool that there may be some divine intervention happening there. LOL I just think its all awesome, and I would love to support the whole thing. But, I'm also a guitar player and singer/songwriter. I also build/repair guitars. I subscribe to about 220 channels, 2 memberships, 1 (all-in) Patreon. This time of year I also have some Subs to watch my Buffalo Bills football, I've been a bills fan since 1960 when I was 8. Next year I go to our second New Stadium Opening in my lifetime!! So, I have to pick what I can afford to support. In my current situation, I'm maxed out right now. But, next shift, Av_101 is #1 on the list!! Have a great day Y'all!! 8) --gary
Oh man I get excited when new Aviation 101 videos drop! Great content as always. Look forward to the next one. Fly safe.
Loved the video! I can only imagine the work you put in to produce the video! Well done! It was nice running into you both during Sunnfun & Osh at the Flying Eyes booth!
Great stuff! Cross Country flying is defiantly different. Twice to Oshkosh from NJ so it's an experience.
I always love it when a new video drops guys. This was another great one thank you.
You’ll end up having something like this at the imax one day! Great flying and footage/editing as always!
Nice seeing KAPV getting some love. Went there on my 150/50 solo cross country (KWJF KAPV KDAG KWJF)
Some beautiful views in the video
Great video Josh, and really enjoy being along for the ride
You Guys rock! Have fun.
Fine video! Funny that "Robot pilot" from movie Airplane on the right seat of the 172's 😀
Very enjoyable episode. Looking forward to the rest of our trip.
Love your videos….been a fan for years
You two mesh so well together!
I remember flying a Grob 103 Twin Astir glider on aero tow to Kingman to get some work done at AZ Composites.
Such a great video! Loving it. About the first leg, a lot of mountains to pass, curious what would be a better plan to be safer, meaning enough emergency landing choices in case of any engineer issues
Great video! I live about an hour from your new home. Please check out the history of Sturgis KY airport and WWII. Along with Camp Breckinridge. A forgotten piece of history.
Great story and top-notch editing. I really enjoyed this video.
Wow Chelsea's plane came out awesome! Great choice on paint scheme! I see one of you is rocking the OneXs :) #dcfanclub Love the content, looking forward to doing a long XC someday after my IR checkride.
Still enjoying your videos man. I keep hoping I'll run into you somewhere sometime one of these days. A lot has changed since I bounced into Austin in that little 150 😂
That’s cool you are headed to Kingman, lived there and retired with fire dept there after 26 years.
Got I love these videos!! Helps me with flying and my ADM. Keep it up!!
The 150 looks fantastic!
I've done that route a dozen times over the years into Prescott, Mesa and Sedona.
Man, her plane is beautiful.
Great video my friends! It was such A GREAT VIDEO & great series so far in California! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this one and I am glad I got to MEET YOU GUYS IN PERSON at OSH24! SO COOL! Also Chelsea’s C150 is SO GORGEOUS and I love it the retro paint job and it’s so cool!
Cheers 🥂 my friends also I remember last time you flew to Kingman AZ KIGM in a previous video from there to the Grand Canyon I believe! 🏜️ 🌵
Cheers 🥂
-Caleb’s Aviation!
Beautiful footage. Love California.
Lmao the autopilot pillow. Got a good laugh outta me when I first saw that
Man I remember when you had 2500 subs. Time flies!
Love your "airplane" autopilot Josh!
Thank you 🙏
Haha.... Otto, and "When Pigs 🐖 Fly"
you guys are awesome
That was EPIC👌can't wait for the next instalment👍
Flew to KSMX today. SoCal is beautiful!
Look forward to the next episode. Rick from Richmond, Ky
Beautiful job making this video!
Did you guys fly over Ft. Collins, CO on Saturday Sept. 7? I was looking at FlightRadar 24 and saw 2 Cessnas flying together on a NW heading? Thought it was interesting, but didn't get the tail numbers. Then, purely by coincidence stumbled on this channel.
Josh's old panel looks almost the same as my new one. :)
Hey I also own a very nice C150F, but I wanted to redo my interior. I was curious about the work done on Chelsea's N3056X (seats are awesome). Is there going to be a video breakdown about the who did the work in Santa Maria? Or else where? Thanks, great video on ADM.
Great pictures and many greetings from Germany 😊
Great video! Josh, How do you go about picking a good air-to-air frequency?
Peter, Paul but what about Mary? Love the paint scheme
Love the series and, let’s face it, all the content. Question: are the full lengths on Aeroverse?
Great video! Thank you!
Never disappoints. ❤️
Awesome TY :)
I used to have delusional aspirations of being a pilot. These videos keep me reality-based.
Great Video guys...amazing! btw what freq. do you use to talk to each other? so cool.
I like your attitude Get there itis is really dangerous
Great video!
Fantastic video! Where did you buy Otto the Pilot (pillow?)?
