His story is not unique per se. I am aware of many Westerners who were monks and later dis-robed and who have helped to spread the message of peace and compassion far and wide (see Bob Thurman, Will Tuttle). I have tremendous respect for this. I certainly don’t have the courage or discipline to leave the comforts of the world for an ashram or monastery, so kudos to those who do. I never followed Shetty, even tho he’s been referred to me. Remember following one of his live meditations on Facebook once, during the pandemic, and that was that. As for what he says I’ve always found it too vacuous and superficial, could never listen to him for longer than two minutes. There’s just nothing to it but generic babble. Then after seeing him with the likes of Jada Smith I knew that he’d also totally sold out. The issue is that he’s become too much of an elite prop not to start to garner suspicion or dislike. He had to have seen this coming. He is one of the elites now, so many don’t like him anymore, as simple as. Again, personally, I never felt the pull. He’s just too generic, there’s no real substance. I read Bhagawad Gita regularly and I too have the same knowledge. I have no issue with him being a youtube influencer. The problem with this guy is that he is cashing in on his fame big time by charging hundreds and thousands of dollars for school certification....his website was stating that there is some affiliation with certain universities for accredited coursework. Those university have denied any affiliation with him/his school. The plagiarism has already been proven. His story is not unique per se. I am aware of many Westerners who were monks and later dis-robed and who have helped to spread the message of peace and compassion far and wide (see Bob Thurman, Will Tuttle). I have tremendous respect for this. I certainly don’t have the courage or discipline to leave the comforts of the world for an ashram or monastery, so kudos to those who do. I pray for peace for him now as he endures these criticisms.

I never followed Shetty, even tho he’s been referred to me. Remember following one of his live meditations on Facebook once, during the pandemic, and that was that. As for what he says I’ve always found it too vacuous and superficial, could never listen to him for longer than two minutes. There’s just nothing to it but generic babble. Then after seeing him with the likes of Jada Smith I knew that he’d also totally sold out. The issue is that he’s become too much of an elite prop not to start to garner suspicion or dislike. He had to have seen this coming. He is one of the elites now, so many don’t like him anymore, as simple as. Again, personally, I never felt the pull. He’s just too generic, there’s no real substance. He has a beautiful face, is obviously business savvy, according to recent investigation he’s had a lot of help from his religious community churning out his videos on social media like hot cakes when he first started, and that’s that. I am actually reading his first book. Interesting and well written but really nothing beyond that. I am really not buying the story of Monkhood journey. I read Bhagawad Gita regularly and I too have the same knowledge. I have no issue with him being a youtube influencer. The problem with this guy is that he is cashing in on his fame big time by charging hundreds and thousands of dollars for school certification....his website was stating that there is some affiliation with certain universities for accredited coursework. Those university have denied any affiliation with him/his school. The plagiarism has already been proven. I will not be buying anymore books from him because I don't want to support anyone who builds his empire on lies..... A big thank you to John McDermott and Nicole Arbor for exposing him! Also, as of now he has not spoken up to defend his record...anyone wondering why 🤔

Wow?! If these allegations are true, that's just sad. I read his book during a time of was home sick for a week 1/2 and dealing with depression. "Think Like a Monk" was a fascinating read for me. I wrote a very nice review and recommended this book to many people. I'm so sorry to hear this (if true). This is why I always cite my sources. I learned that in undergrad (English composition class).
Leave the person and just see if the book can help you. If it helps you then don't hesitate or avoid it.
