What I got from this video: 1) Jay was not has his ashram all the time and was in London, 2) Monks should remain poor and quiet, 3) Once you are a monk you should not do anything else and be a monk for life, 4) He is 'plagiarizing' because he has repeated things he has learned from others. When I first saw the video title I was expecting news about some crime he had committed, this is such a non-issue, crappy journalism supporting cancel culture.

What I got from your comment: 1) A monk can travel around the world from Day 1 and without doing any 'tapasya' claim that he is a monk 2) Monks should be a millionaire and materialistic in every aspect of life 3) once you are a monk you can enjoy life to the fullest. 1. Jay Shetty was my teacher in the ashram in London for 2 years. I can attest to that.
2. Spiritual awakening is a process. So depending on what he was refering to, the date may be different.
3. The plagiarism thing was in the start and he corrected that error. How often do we say things that we didn't invent ourselves, without always giving a reference upfront?
4. There are reasons why he is so successful, one of which is because people resonate with what he says.

2. Why should he not go to India? His ancestors are indian. Everyone in the ashram there went to India at least once, because that is where the roots of that spiritual tradition are. I myself have been more than 10 times. Also, his Guru, Radhanath Swami (whom I happened to see today in person) has several projects in Mumbai, which is one place where he spent some time for sure.
Nobody is clean as they claim. Neither the anchor speaking here nor me😅. So it's better to accept it that way and see what good we can learn from everyone.

I am aware of many Westerners who were monks and later dis-robed and who have helped to spread the message of peace and compassion far and wide (see Bob Thurman, Will Tuttle). I have tremendous respect for this. I certainly don’t have the courage or discipline to leave the comforts of the world for an ashram or monastery, so kudos to those who do. I pray for peace for him now as he endures these criticisms.

I read this news where it was first posted by a journalist of The Gaurdian. His claims are also as false and complex as the accusations he makes against J Shetty. The problematic thing I found was that he has a business school that promises to provide certification from reputed business schools but all these schools deny any such collaboration.
Finally some one said it. They are not giving opinions, they are stating facts about what happened and how the guy built an empire out of emptiness. It seems people especially his fans are having a hard time accepting the truth about his lies. A lot of people were saying about his lies for years and now he seems to be caught up to his lies.
So what if he's not living a monk's life, if we're broke in life its some motivational quote or something like that

I have many mutual friends with him and I can confirm the fact that he was indeed a Bramhacari (student monk) in ISKCON and had indeed spend time at the ISKCON's chowpathy temple in Mumbai, Indian. I like him also became a student monk for 5 years after my undergraduate studies and then choose to become a high school teacher.
