  • You really miss some of the things we all took for granted. One of them for me is visiting places of interest and traveling which unfortunately has been curtailed due to the spread of coronavirus around the world so we have just got to do the best we can by getting outdoors for some fresh air. I enjoy having a nice early morning walk, I always carry my cameras to capture anything of interest. This was some footage that I took from outside my local railway at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway with some of the Diesel group members working in the yard doing various tasks, and I thought that I would share it with you all so please support your local railway and museums take care and keep safe.
Some info on the Class 20 Locomotive
Class 20 diesel locomotives were built in 1957-1968 by English Electric at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows or at the Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn works at Darlington.
Class 20 locomotives have a maximum tractive effort of 42000 lbf (187 kN) and Class 20 diesels have a maximum speed of 75 mph. Class 20 locomotives only have one cab at one end and consequently they often work in pairs.
Class 20 diesel locomotives were built for light to moderately heavy freight trains.
Currently the only company operating mainline class 20's in Scotland are DRS.
DRS used their class 20's on nuclear flask trains from Carlisle to Hunterston and Torness. These are often either worked by pairs of class 20s, with the class 20s' nose to nose, or with a Class 37. However their visits to Scotland are now few and far between.
