- Doesn't let you enter more text we talked about this in the description of the last bug I entered its very very much of a pain in the ass but we want to we want to talk about the bug in the iPhone in the messages app the bug in the messages app is more serious usability issue than other usability typical usability issues because it's compounded the effect is compounded by the the users uncertainty of whether not knowing whether the reason for the text not being inputted into the title field is due to something else as th
Computer keyboards that is laptops and desktops with physical keyboards you can rely on 100% of the time when you hit a key on the keyboard if the keyboard is not physically broken you can expect that that key is going to be pressed in the operating system and software software keyboards like found on Android and iPhones are not dependable you cannot rely on them like you can on a computer keyboard for that reason software developers need to be more diligent about letting users know when text is being when user data is being rejected by the software so this isn't just a usability bug yes I'm I'm I'm I'm saying this is not just a usability bug because this is a bug that results in loss of use of data for user touches if you use a clicks on the on the keyboard the user types data on the keyboard and that data gets doesn't get stored or even displayed it's lost that's lost user data that's lost user data this is not just a usability issue with my MacBook I didn't say MacBook this is an issue that results in Lost user data this is an issue that results in Lost user data so it's a much more serious issue it's not just the usability issue
But the user the user it's not a lost using devil's advocate it's not lost user data because the user still has the data in their head they know what data they know what data was lost because because they saw it happen they know that they need to they need to put the data back in that was lost by the computer so it's not a bug that results in Lost user data I'm going to say I'm saying I think it is it is because we can't trust we can't be sure that the users are going to remember what they typed
As soon as a user types data it's user data the paradigm used to be for users to save their documents as they worked on them the new paradigm seems to be for documents to just be automatically saved do not require that the user explicitly do a save action from from a file menu
P what this means is that as soon as a user adds any data to document or attempts to add any data to a document if the data doesn't make it into the document because they're of a bug in the hardware or software then that's a bug in the hardware software that results in Lost user data
In my humble opinion
Bugs that result in Lost user data aren't the absolute worst computer bug a computer bug that results in loss of human life would be the absolute worst computer bug what bugs that result in Lost user data are considered very serious bugs and are supposed to be given a higher priority by the product managers etc
