Tommy Emmanuel Lewis and Clark

Two-time Grammy nominee Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia's most respected musicians. The legendary guitarist has a professional career that spans five decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians throughout the world. A household name in his native Australia, Tommy has garnered hundreds of thousands of loyal fans worldwide. Tommy's unique style -- he calls it simply "finger style" -- is akin to playing guitar the way a pianist plays piano, using all ten fingers. Rather than using a whole band for melody, rhythm, bass, and drum parts, Tommy plays all that -- and more -- on one guitar. Guitar legend Chet Atkins was one of the first to inspire Emmanuel to try this "fingerpicker" style as a child. Decades later, Atkins himself became one of Emmanuel's biggest fans.

Honestly, that is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard...it has reduced me to tears. Both happy and sad. I've put it on repeat; I swear I could put it on a constant loop and never tire of it! Thank you for uploading this clip; it is doing wonders for my heart. Rather fitting that this performance came from this event, as my sadness mainly stems from the deep grief I have due to losing my beloved momma last fall after she succumbed to her valiantly fought 30-yr/3-bout long cancer battle. I miss her every single day.
One of her wonderful legacies was leaving me with a deep appreciation for music; she would have loved this clip, too! Neither would it be lost on her to see Richie (like me, an only child who lost a parent to cancer) sitting there beside Tommy. While he was a teen crush of mine, likewise, I have to thank him for introducing me to some fantastic musicians...Tommy included. As it happens, the first rock concert I ever attended was Bon Jovi's "Slippery" Tour; I was just 15 at the time, and, being from a small town, we had to travel to the city for same. Bless her soul...Mom accompanied me, "enduring" 5+ hrs on a bus with hordes of teens (most - if not, all - girls), then several more hours of screaming fans (again, prob mostly females) at the concert itself. (And, yes, she was won over by the end...those Jersey boys sure knew how to put on a show!!! I saw them twice after in subsequent tours - once with a friend, and the final time with my uncle (her brother - a high-school teacher that ended up winnin' a lot of admiration from his students for attending a concert).) My momma, a class act; just like this fantastic clip 🙂

I only have acoustic guitars. The clarity of every single note. How clean he plays, seemingly without error. Nothing flat, nothing missed, nothing slightly muted even. He is a true master. I envy him the patience it took to practice as hard as he did to be this good.

Yes! Sultans has changed my life. Learning that song ooened a lot of doors with my guitar which lead me to Tommy and he's now my favorite guurarist. I used to listen to metal haha now this is my favorite. I can play impossible sounding songs on my guitar and this one sounds easy compared to others I know. But I was wrong, I had trouble learning this without a tab. Such a brilliant song.
