And to have to fail after everything because you basically got checkmated, not to mention the threat of being hall-monitored by viewers. SMPs like this seem fun, but it must be really stressful to have to play that extra layer of mind games. It sucks that some tasks leave so much gray area and "what if"s. I think this episode was really great despite having to fail at the end. Well done Scar!
Yeah, the threat of hall monitor viewers is real. Even now there are commenters pointing out every single time he failed the task as though he falsely claimed victory by the end. Calling him out doesn't matter because he made the right decision in picking the fail button during the session.
I mean he did just clearly fail, whether there are 'hall-monitor viewers" or not. It's not like he failed on a small technicality that was only noticeable on rewatching the footage a bunch. Just as an example, if last episode Bdubs hadn't put the words he needed to say up on screen, and people had gone through his video to track down if he said all the words. I'd call _that_ out as hall-monitor viewers. But this fail was blatant.
@@TheMrVengeance My point is, it doesn't matter that the fail was blatant. Scar had his footage checked by Grian to make absolutely sure whether he failed or succeeded because sometimes that stuff slips you by as you're doing things. Especially given how chaotic these sessions actually are, it's not difficult to see why someone would miss something. But the thing is - Scar failed and he accepted that he did. Yet, people are still commenting all the times he messed up his task, even though that's not necessary because Scar already knows this.
@stan8479 Scar in the video literally said at multiple points that he wasn't sure whether or not he'd failed. People are just answering that question. That's the point of the comments, interacting with the video. Hall monitor viewers are an issue when they're nitpicking minor details and technicalities by pausing and going back in the videos to find fails. My point wad when the fail is as obvious as this and the creator asks "did I fail?" it's not hall monitoring to comment "yeah you did".
@@TheMrVengeance Considering Scott had to pin a comment requesting people to stop hall monitoring everyone and sucking the fun out of everything, my point has been proven lol
I super appreciate that Scar's opposite actions are truly in the spirit of the task and not just literal lawyer loophole escapes to make things more palatable. "Please give me a heart turning into two whacks from a stick"... your game play is amazing sir (not a villain).
25:11 Actually Scar DIDN'T fail there because Martin said "Stand for a SECOND" Scar stood for MULTIPLE seconds so he did technically do the opposite of it. Just not in the way you think.
@@Speed001kinda late reply, but in order to stay still for even 2 seconds you would need to stay still for a second. Even if the quote was “stand still for a second” scar still would’ve failed
I TRULY think this should have been a success. And sending a clip to the admin to genuinely figure out if you are interpreting something the right way should not be a fail.
That was a really hard task, sucks that Martyn managed to figure it out. On the bright side, this was the funniest life series episode I've ever seen, you had me in tears!
Scar singing with Grian gives me the great old days nostalgia of 3rd Life and Double Life. Grian and Scar are such a fun DUO to watch! I hope they team up later, such great vibes and synergy! A mark of true friends.
Gotta watch scars perspective first, protagonist energy. Task idea: Convince someone that you are allies, then ghost them for 30 minutes and go back as if nothing happened, don't get called out!
Scar delivered amazingly and even did extra. Scar didn’t have to take away Skiz’s hearts, he just needed to say no. But I applaud scar for taking his hearts, it was quite poetic
No he had to do the opposite, so he had to take away a heart. Thats the thing, he didn't need to just not listen, he needed to actively do the exact opposite.
It's like asking "what's the opposite of 1?" Both 0 and -1 have valid arguments. I think -1 was *by far* the better choice for content and entertainment.
Giving a heart is positive, not giving a heart is neutral, taking a heart is negative. The opposite of positive is negative. You can turn it into a strictly binary problem of "yes" or "no", but that doesn't consider all possibilities. That's why taking a heart is objectively more accurate. If you consider all possibilities and there is only one correct answer, then it will always be to take the heart.
I feel like tasks like these should have time limitations, otherwise it becomes extremely obvious. That said, it makes for the best Secret life episode so far XD

Scar both kept dropping hints and then trying to confuse people with his task. This was a super fun video to watch. But I am still glad he still is in his green life. Hoping his luck holds for a session or two more.
Scar could have finished this from the start. If he pretended to reveal the secret, he would be told to fail his task, in turn he would have to succeed his task immediately

Poor Scar. He accidentally became the villian while the poor man wanted friends
It was so disappointing watching scar destroy his only friendships, and then fail the task.
Very sad. From the moment he said 'don't move,' Scar was screwed.
@@willw6504it was a catch 22 dammed if you do dammed if you don’t
For Scar to go through all that and still fail the task, toughing it out the whole time- what a legend!! 😭
I super appreciate that Scar's opposite actions are truly in the spirit of the task and not just literal lawyer loophole escapes to make things more palatable. "Please give me a heart turning into two whacks from a stick"... your game play is amazing sir (not a villain).
Yeah although, aren't red lives supposed to be the only ones who can PvP others?
@@solarprogeny6736unless the task says otherwise, like when Skizz was made to lose 5 hearts because of one
@@solarprogeny6736technically speaking, greens cant kill greens. But they haven't said anything about boping eachother (for this series)
Skizz didn't even tell him to give a heart, so that was just a classic scar misunderstanding. A brilliant one at that.
@@Rallion1they did say "give skizz a heart"
25:11 Actually Scar DIDN'T fail there because Martin said "Stand for a SECOND" Scar stood for MULTIPLE seconds so he did technically do the opposite of it. Just not in the way you think.
25:08 "Stand still for me"
2nd person I've seen misquote it
@@Speed001kinda late reply, but in order to stay still for even 2 seconds you would need to stay still for a second. Even if the quote was “stand still for a second” scar still would’ve failed
Scar is so genuinely nice, this has to be the hardest task he’s ever had😭
Convex?
Watching Scar make that helmet, literally had me screaming “NO!” and reaching for my tv
22:00 they told you to come back and you turned and went back FAILLL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL
I’m not gonna lie Scar is doing so well in terms of keeping his hearts
Color me impressed
He was an absolute villain😉 this session
I think it is because most of his deaths are because of the way he likes to present his character (not all, most).
tell that to Mumbo hahha
He has only gone under 20 hearts once and he only made it down to about 18.5 hearts before he gained 10 more and basically went back up to full
@@Owen-zk4yr For the record I did the math Scar did lose 3 hearts that day but that was honestly about it
I TRULY think this should have been a success. And sending a clip to the admin to genuinely figure out if you are interpreting something the right way should not be a fail.
he didn't fail because he told grian his task, he only failed because martyn told him to hold still and he did
it was the standing still part that broke it. If he moved then they would've been able to guess his task, so it would've been the end either way
Keeping a horse egg on hand for a getaway is like having a Pokémon ready in its pokeball
Yes horse spawn eggs can be huge... unless you get a really slow one then it would be just funny.
except it’s a wild pokémon so you have to tame it first XD
I like how Scar was so busy being the villain he completely skipped over the whole killing the end dragon thing! Absolutely wild episode.
Problem is, if someone had asked him to come, he wouldn't be able to!
WAIT THEY DID DRAGON STUFF?!?
@@NoveleHell Oh yeah, wont spoil anything, but if you want to watch I'd recommend bdubs perspective
@@NoveleHellyeah, I’d watch gem or bdubs video if you’re intrigued
@@NoveleHellYEAH!! Go watch Pearl, Impulse, or Bdubs for the full fight.
martyn's actually really good at guessing tasks
Sadly it seems like he'll be doing more "killing" than guessing now since he's on his red life
23:30 “I can’t tell you how sweaty I am irl, I should take a picture for you and send it to you, so u can have it” SCAR??? WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT😭
That was a really hard task, sucks that Martyn managed to figure it out. On the bright side, this was the funniest life series episode I've ever seen, you had me in tears!
He could have just avoided interaction for the entire session and he would almost surely win
Jimmy figured it out actually! After scar left jimmy turned to martyn and was like maybe something about opposites?? do the opposite of...something??
@@sokagames0114 what's the fun in that
The gathering at the end of the video was so wholesome, finally getting to tell people you were sorry and right some wrongs must have felt amazing.
Scar singing with Grian gives me the great old days nostalgia of 3rd Life and Double Life. Grian and Scar are such a fun DUO to watch! I hope they team up later, such great vibes and synergy! A mark of true friends.
cant agree more
I loved how he just sang along, perfectly normal, nothing to see here, just to buds sharing a tune.😂😂
23:14 It would've been villainous if Grian said, "I won't tell anyone, just make sure you don't tell the yellows your own task."
YOU FIEND
Scar’s task is just so Scar-coded
E
Gotta watch scars perspective first, protagonist energy.
Task idea: Convince someone that you are allies, then ghost them for 30 minutes and go back as if nothing happened, don't get called out!
jokes on you: bdubs is the main character
@@henkdachiefjokes on you, im the main character >:)
Your apologies at the end were incredible, you really had everyone enraptured listening.
Scar didnt fail when he was told to stand still this is because he said to “stand still for a *minute* ” he moved before the minute was over
he said "stand still for me" not for a minute
Genuinely got a bit teary-eyed at the end. Scar's such a nice guy, just wants to make amends.
22:00 they told you to come back and you turned and went back FAILLL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL
This was a very simple task with a lot of loop holes, but scar was so focused on not failing in the slightest it literally drove him insane
Scar delivered amazingly and even did extra. Scar didn’t have to take away Skiz’s hearts, he just needed to say no. But I applaud scar for taking his hearts, it was quite poetic
Oh, you're right! Pearl said "give him a heart", so technically all Scar had to do was not give it 😂
No he had to do the opposite, so he had to take away a heart. Thats the thing, he didn't need to just not listen, he needed to actively do the exact opposite.
This one is more an interpretation thing than anything. Both not giving a heart and taking one count as doing the opposite really
Villain
Scar's task is so much sadder from his perspective?! XD I'm so sorry you went through this, but thank you for the laughs!
Great effort on that task, Scar. And Bdubs was right, we were yelling at the screen when you made that helmet.🤣 Also, villain
I feel like tasks like these should have time limitations, otherwise it becomes extremely obvious. That said, it makes for the best Secret life episode so far XD
True! I feel like scar was kinda screwed with an unfair task this session.
It should’ve been like, 30 min max
agree. and a lil detail too like what if the request was impossible is it insta fail?
@@WhatABinglylittlescronklylil- There's been a lot of "unfair" regular tasks in the series so far, I would say Scar has been quite lucky in not getting those until now. In this case though, yeah, this really should've been a hard task if it doesn't have a time limit. The management for designing tasks and maintaining rules have been kind of questionable so I don't expect it to improve anytime soon.
@@raymond7873Agreed. I guess it makes viewers like me engage and pleases the YT algorithm. Is it worth the unfair tasks and our Hermits' suffering? I have mixed feelings
@@raymond7873there’s not much you can do without testing them. i guess they’re gonna get more consistent as the series goes on
*Villain* , also the scene of you apologizing to everyone was so sweet. I felt like I'd cry if I was in your postion of accidentally making enimies with everyone.
There should have been a time limit on that, that was insanely hard, you did so well though Scar
Poor "villain" scar. Heart sank when Lizzie said to spare her cows
The apologising to everyone at the end was so wholesome though!
My favorite part of the series is how varied the tasked are in difficulty. They go from literally show someone this task to poor scar doing this
I almost spit out my water when Scar said Grian was whispering sweet nothings in his ear 😂 it’s not even the funniest thing, it was just so unexpected 😂
seeing how content scar was with this task at the start when i've seen the future and it involves him running around in a panic with a diamond helmet on away from joel is so funny
E
I like how during chase scenes it feels like Scar is actually running irl, because of how winded he sounds
I will not say anything
I can’t tell if this was a weird joke or an unfortunate mistake.
@@ghostboy4115 what's wrong?
Honestly this has been one of the most entertaining episode of the life series ever, the dynamic with the task and the helmet just made it so funny.
i know this is like 7 months later and I'm rewatching this series but poor Big B he just wanted to show someone his home
that was the best task, totally heart-breaking to see you going through the moral dilemmas and being bad even though its very against your nature, since you are so nice!
Yes, but also no, he's really not in this series.
@@BTGTB he’s sneaky and steals stuff but I don’t think he would hit people while they were down and kill all the animals, remember the panda reserve
@@meow7985 Eh, I made this reply at the same time as my other comment before watching the video. So, yeah, he's typically not that bad, but I stand by that he is quite mischievous sometimes to the harm of others. Let's not forget the pain caused by HotGuy.
I've never felt more sorry for Scar as he was fleeing and freaking out. I hope he has an easier go next session.
Scar has so many irl issues and never fails to make just the best of content. It’s not editing or the gameplay, it’s the personality, scar just has that uplifting personality but mixed with humour and is just generally funny in general. Good job to scar because he does something not many people can no matter how hard they try
27:42 The reactions to Scar’s confessions are hilarious 😂
What a villain.
Watching Scar's downward spiral as the episode progressed has got to be the highlight of the series so far!
Either that or Tango and Torchie
I love how MCYT works as a storytelling medium. Your episode and Impluse's are both a pretty full account of what happened on the server that day, and yet they have basically no overlap. It's cool how different perspectives change things so much.
absolutely!! that’s such a good point and part of the reason why i love these kinds of series so much. there’s always something new to watch and another connection to make since it’s not all laid out in one way
I think it really works with this series because, for the most part, they don’t put other people’s task reveals in their episodes, even if relevant, so to get the full picture p, ur encouraged to watch more perspectives
Scar both kept dropping hints and then trying to confuse people with his task. This was a super fun video to watch. But I am still glad he still is in his green life. Hoping his luck holds for a session or two more.
he’s actually doing really well compared to a lot of people! i have faith
scar also failed the task at 21:57 when jimmy said "come back here" and scar went back
Scar could have finished this from the start. If he pretended to reveal the secret, he would be told to fail his task, in turn he would have to succeed his task immediately
Oh that's so smart!!!
“Do the opposite of what people tell you to do… okay, no one’s gonna guess that basically cause that’s what I do my entire life. In game real life…” gotta love scar 😂
I'm so glad Scar got to make his amends in the end.
I watched Mumbos and Grians POV, and was incredibly confused on what Scar had done to make everyone upset, I thought the entire server was just mad at his helmet XD
That was the BEST task thus far. So much credit to Scar for trying his damned best.
This might be my favorite episode yet! Scar turning literally EVERYONE against him within seconds is so funny 😂
Also Grian immediately helping Scar is so funny 😂

Task idea:
Make at least 5 or 7 people finish you sentence without them questioning it. If the person questions it, you have to find a different person.
Mate that's like a third of the server, and a third of the server is on yellow at this point... This is a hard task
I know this task was incredibly hard for a normal task but I will say, this has created one of the best episodes in this season so far.
It hurts to see everything scar has to do just to fail in the end. (Villain) :(
21:54 while scar is running away,
Jimmy: "no come back here, come back here." Scar: *turns around and goes back*
You were so close.
Not only the task was fun, but the way Scar narrates a story with his shenanigans makes the episode pure gold! love you scar
Gotta love how when everyone else was condemning Scar and hating him, Grian was there, helping him.
