- The Cobra B.A.T.S. figure is my favorite GI Joe figure. This video is about the reasons I think the GI Joe Cobra B.A.T.S. figure is the best one in the group.
"Doot Beep" song written and recorded by Tony Teofilo, ft. Mado and Neato.

There ain't much that breaks my heart, and that's one of them things.
I dunno who ever could want to jeopardize Crafsman.. It's pain..
@@voxthesergal he told a long time ago that somebody literally traced where his P.O. box was and *waited for him.* I get wanting to meet Crafsman but that's genuinely insane. (And if I did happen to meet him I'd probably cry.)
@@jackpijjin4088 Jesus..
@@jackpijjin4088 What video did he say that in?
@@DancingInSeptember. iirc it was a Shop Log, one of the first he uploaded. Not positive but I'll have to look for it tomorrow.
Crafsman, I have GOT to compliment you on that transition in the opening, that was SMOOTH!
:) Thank you for saying that! Took some fiddling to get that done, so I bigtime appreciate hearing this!
Had to go back and watch it again, it was so cool!
@@TheCrafsMan A proper Star Wars transition.
@TheCrafsMan SteadyCraftin you know - with all of the things that you have cast into metal, one thing that would make for a great video would be casting BAT hand attachments 😁
Yeah, REAL slick, baby.
Nice work. No scene edge or nothing noticeable. It was over before I realized what was going on. Real clean
"that's what's wonderful about the about the 80s though. a lot of things did not make sense but it just was a wonderful time"

Fellow me guys 😘😘
That transition at 0:40 was so flawless an magical!
Aww, thank you!
Beat me to it. Great swipe.
I clicked on your time stamp and was rewarded with an unskippable ad : (
@@mr.miniaturesmodels8465 Oh man, I apologize! I actually have been turning OFF mid-roll ads on my videos. But you can't set it as default... UA-cam sets them on automatically for longer videos, so I have to remember to go back in after it's all uploaded to disable that. I keep the ads at the beginning or end. Not a fan of the middle-middle ones. :/
@@mr.miniaturesmodels8465 OH SNAP... ok... I just clicked the timestamp as well and it played an ad. So I guess even with the timestamp it treated it as a pre-video ad.

Great video!!!!
Glad someone else heard that. It actually made me pause because he rarely just meows like that. :D
It made me chuckle! "Meow." *2 seconds of stunned silence*
The reason B.A.T.S. figures are so rare: Crafsman has accumulated a secret army.
Never gave a thought to action figures until I found this smooth-as-silk fellow.
Oh man, I hope you get some delight from looking at them! There's a whole world out there with this mess. (Kinda dangerous at times... when I get to going on a spending spree. LOL! "Baby, it's a business expense.")
Action figures are the reason I found him. 🙂
@@TheCrafsMan My wife has basically given up on trying to slow my down. But she also trusts me not to spend too much, and I am careful about it.
Fellow me guys 😘😘
Crafsman, I thought you were going to be silly and show us snow outside or something when you asked if we wanted to see the weather. Not only did you show us spring, you did such a sweet shot going up the trunk of that tree. That was awesome.
I'm so glad you enjoyed that! It's crazy to me to consider places still having snow. :D (Well... we only see that once every decade around here. LOL!)
@@TheCrafsMan Woody Woodpecker Approved!

"Oh, excuse me"
The Crafsman, wholesome crafting
You should craft the Commander missing the chest hologram a new chest piece in your style.
It would make a cool video.
You are Awesome!
And some new custom hand accessories!
Yeah what was the name of the BAT Commander released in the early 90s before the line shut down for a few years?
@@NodDisciple1 That android is called Overkill
A beating heart! ❤️
I always wanted an army of those figures when I was younger
Those and the Horde Troopers from He-Man.
@@MisterWin OH SNAP! The Horde Trooper is one of the best He-Man figures ever made! The style was set apart from the standard He-Man figures (who almost always had the same basic body sculpt, over and over, but in a different color or slight variation, with the head being the biggest difference between figures).
My TOP TWO He-Man figures: Roboto and the Horde Trooper. No doubt about it. :)
Uncle Jessy! Mannn you got me thinking about something. I know a fella who does fine 3D scans of vintage figures (old Kenner Star Wars ones are his specialty) and I was thinking... how neat would it be to have STLs of all the Cobra B.A.T.S. parts, to 3D print and assemble. Especially with these newer tougher resins and color options.
Hrm..... maybe one day down the road I can look at molding the individual parts and casting in a tough resin.
@@TheCrafsMan That's also why Modulok was my favorite.
@@TheCrafsMan I have this dream of getting a good 3d scan setup and setting up an online archive of vintage toys for just this reason. This stuff will eventually be lost
The "Toot Beep" outro music is an absolute jam 🎵
“It really don’t matter what that is, this was the 80s” -that is an powerful summary of so much of that time period!
I'm sorry you had a scary issue with your privacy, Crafsman. Hope that's all resolved now x
I appreciate that, Gar! It seems to be all fine now. Thank you for watching! :D
Fellow me guys 😘😘
Oh man--a Friday night Crafsman video? Y'all KNOW it's about to get nutty here. No grander relief than seeing a crafsman video at the end of a long week. Happy spring to all you fine people.
TY,AND SAME TO YOU!
The joke at the end took me a second and then I burst out laughing
I thought the punchline was going to be, “You can’t quit, you’re “fired!”
@@CDR1396 that's a good one too!
@@CDR1396 SNAP! That would have been a slick TOPPER punch-line! Mannnnnn! :/
My dad says that "hold your mouth just right" thing. I know EXACTLY what you mean. The pressure when you unscrew that first one and crack em apart....
That's how my grandpa explained how he split bricks clean in half. Well, he said it was how he held his tongue, but kinda the same.
You've given me such an appreciation for the aesthetics of something I never really thought about before. Keep spreading those positive creativity vibes, Crafsman
I sincerely appreciate your kind words, my friend!
I am having a bad day and this is relaxing thank you
Pippin, I hope your day improves! Thank you for watching, and taking time to say something super encouraging!
@TheCrafsMan I respect your privacy. You do great things, and people might feel more connected to you than they really are. You are respected for protecting your privacy and you should never feel pressured to do what is not comfortable to you. Additionally, the video is great! Thank you for the quality content!
Travis, I appreciate that so much. Bigtime.
I use to take out the screw, in the back of, my G.I. Joe’s and mix up parts from other Joes to create new figures. Basically customizing figures before customizing figures was a thing. Way back in ‘88’.
That's what I'm talkin' about! :D
That was my favorite, too! I dropped it out of my school bus window while on a highway and lost it. I know the precise spot where I dropped it, and I'm reminded of it every time I drive by that spot. I'm gonna pull over there one of these days.
OH MAN! :( I couldn't help but picture that scene from the beginning of Napoleon Dynamite. We used to do mess like that - hang figures out the window on a string. LOL!
It would be pretty crazy if you found that figure, or remnants!
@@TheCrafsMan Ha! Yep! I had him soaring out the window like Superman, and I don't even know what made me drop him. Btw, I use your breathing techniques on the reg- Thanks for what you do, CrafsMan!
Your GI Joes are in way better shape than mine. All the thumbs are broken off of mine from trying to get them to hold onto lots of things too big
Oh yeah - the thumbs... always a weak spot. And the little thin piece near the "underwear" part. (I still call it that. Not sure what else to call it. LOL!)
A few o'mine have mine
damages/war wounds...in the face.
(💪🧨💪 used jumping-jacks & ground flowers lol)
Crafsman I just love to watch your videos just to hear you talk. It's so soothing like therapy. I'm gonna go dig up my old GI Joe figures now. I'm 45 and I still have lots of my toys from the 80s. Hotwheels GI Joe Legos etc.
You are a UA-cam jem!
Thank you so much for the kind words! Hope you have a blast going through those old figures! :D
I hope that one day the Crafsman workshop will be preserved and turned into a National landmark.
No better way to end the week than with some time with the CrafsMan.
Man, glad I'm not the only one who has dreamt about abusing time travel to stock up on the toys I loved.
Uncle Dan! :D Man, yeah... I was just telling someone else how I wouldn't be investing in big future companies or whatever, but I'd be hitting up the toy stores. :D
It would be a wild shopping spree.
"Sorry kids, we're all out of toys. Another time traveler came in bought up our entire stock."
The best part is seeing one of the old toys that gets about 5 seconds of screen time but sends you back 30+ years to when you used to play with it but never knew what range it was from...
That right there is what I so very much like to hear. It is THE reason I throw those vintage figures in there.
Because I know that feeling of seeing something that I had forgotten about, but the very SIGHT of it instantly throws a switch and brings back all those good memories.
Thank you for sharing this!
@@TheCrafsMan Then you should be glad to hear you peppered me up with like 5 shots of nostalgia in a 2 second span in this video...#SteadyTimeTravelin'

“Just look at it” is one of the best reasons for a figure to be your favorite.
I know it has already been said, but that transition at the beginning was one of the best I've ever seen. Nicely done, Crafsman
Thank you, Joshua!
@@TheCrafsMan Was that a straight pan up, or did you create some sort of pulley/crane to get such a smooth shot? It looks like the parallax stays straight the whole way through.
It's funny. I haven't collected G.I. Joes in probably 15+ years, but I remember B.A.T.S. being expensive even back then. When I saw the condition of yours I was in awe, and then when you revealed that you had even more I was astounded!
It makes me glad to have not gotten rid of some of these figures. There was a time just over a decade ago where eBay prices weren't too terribly crazy. It's wild how some of the prices have gone up, even for the more obscure toy lines. (For example, I wanted to get a Food Fighters toy to show y'all, but MAN are they expensive now. I did not expect THAT line to be so pricey. LOL!)
this is my happy place
I was born in 1970. And I feel you brother love!
Man talk about taking me back down memory lane. I remember taking them apart and mix matching different parts to make my own character. Thanks for the memories crafsman. 👍🇺🇸👍
I love seeing the figure that I sent you! :)
Thank you SO MUCH, my friend! I won't forget your kindness.
I had this figure as a child. It was so cool and I was missing the attachments, but I thought it was dope cause I was into mega man and he had like that lack of an arm and i just imagined it was a gun and this dude would come all over with me to the store and every where. I don't think he had the sticker on the front tho.
Matt, I like the way you think! And Mega Man is a fantastic little character as well!
Today has been a wonderful day. I got news that my cousins baby is due next week, got myself some new materials for crafting, and I'm finally settling into my new job. And on top of that, a new video from you! :D I hope your weekend is just as good as my day has been!
My day gets instantly better when Crafsman puts out a video.
You're very kind! Thank you!
I never collected these GI Joe figures, but I enjoy the CrafsMan narrating and showing the woods around his workshop. He's like soul-voiced craft-version of Bob Ross. Too cool. Thanks for the video, CrafsMan!
Between the cool edit, his creative knowledge, and ability to find the Doot Beat tune, I wonder about the mysterious Crafsman. Maybe he's more connected than we'll ever know.
I remember paying for a Monkeywrench Dreadnock figure with pennies and nickels when I was a kid.
$1.87 plus tax back then. My stormshadow card still has the green Walmart price tag.
Andrew, that is a fun figure! :D Yessss!
@@KensToyz : Seeing those little old price tags for amounts like that causes mixed emotions in me. Like I say in the vid, it makes me think "Mannn if I could go back in time."
I wouldn't be thinking about investing in Apple or whoever - I'd be visiting toy stores.
It's a little sad when you pay $20 for a figure and the sticker had a $2 price tag. Ha.
“...burst into flames from being hit from behind” - that’s not a bug, it’s a feature. 🤣😂🤣
You’re the best Crafsman, thank you for all of your videos. I hope you and the fam are well.
Hey Crafsman!!! I grew up pretty low income so we didnt have the biggest xmas trees or gifts, but i was always so grateful for anything i would get from Santa (Mom). Xmas 1986, i dont know how my mom did it, but i came down stairs to the G.I Joe command center (tes the whole friggin center) Avalance and the Snow Cat, Zartan and the Cameleon bike, tomax and xamot with the quad bike and the battle jeep (fogot the name) I always tell my Mom, the xmas changed my life and made me know...now mattter how dark times may seem..the sun always shine thru. Thanks fo bringin back those warm memories. Luv to the whole CrafsFam!
I'm back watching, Crafman. You are such a great writer and such an authentic person. I wish you could come see my Madison Comic Book Repository and Lecture Hall.
I found a bag of over 100 AIR RAIDERS figures, all the same basic orange, at St. Vincent De Paul. I have an unopened Robotix set with figure.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!? Sean, I would be pinching myself to be sure I wasn't dreaming. That's FANTASTIC!!!!! Thank you for watching!
I love these videos where CrafsMan just waltzes around talking about the stuff he likes
I swear GI Joe's were my introduction into making. Scrounging the toolbox to find just the right size of philips-head screwdriver, just to take apart joes and swap the parts around. Then scrambling to put them all back together before bedtime without losing parts & screws or braking that rubber band!
That first transition was smooth, with a capital SMOO.
Love this ep. So much fun. You are the best crafsman

I really enjoyed this video crafsman! I never grew up with GI joe but lately I’ve been getting into them
Awesome work, this one was a real blast! 😉👍🏻👊🏻
The BATS were incredible. I also loved Zartan because his skin and armor changed color and he had a backpack with a new face. GI Joe was amazing and so is this channel. Thank you Crafsman.
Those joints are *tight*! I heard the creaking. Also -- amazing videos. Instant sub.
"Zandar! I had Zandar last time. Also how come you get twenty BATS?"
I think Wet Suit was my personal favorite.
Thanks for showing the Air Raiders! I loved those things.
Thank you for watching! And Wet Suit is another fantastic one! Wonderful colors, too!
The B.A.T.s were my favorite GI Joe figure too. For many reasons.
1: Androids. . . robots are one of the top 3 rules of cool.
2: Multiple weapon loadouts specific to the figure.
3: They were black and yellow. I grew up in Pittsburgh and all our sports teams have those colors.
4: The lenticular chest piece was the icing on the cake.
I had enough of these to make a small squad and I loved them. I can only giggle at the thought of the mayhem I could cause if I would've had a battalion of these guys. . .
My friend recommended this channel to me and I’m so glad he did. This is a nice little UA-cam channel
Thank you for bringing us into the craftman world. I really love hearing you talk with such passion about the toys that you love. I too loved the BATS. Whoever was designing the Cobra figures was absolutely knocking it out of the park every time.
One of my favorite Joes was Alpine because he had the little grappling hooks and some string accessories. When I was a kid I loved to string lines from the stairs and slide my joes on them. Really put the action into action figures.
I love these little show and tell videos

In my 40s and I’ve had the same dream. One of my favourites. Thanks for this.
Hey Tyler! Mannn, glad to hear I ain't the only one! :D
Love that little 2x4 callback.
I'm down with the 5 points of articulation! It's my favorite also. The GI Joes are great but I'm a little intimidated to customize them because of the tiny rivets in the joints. I would love to see some info on the their rivets if you ever get a chance. Very cool as usual!
Ohhhh, I hear you on that one. I have thought about molding GI JOE parts and using them in a 5-points figure. So for example, it would be a GI JOE leg all together, with no knee joint... just like a Star Wars figure. So we keep to the 5-pts style AND avoid the little complicated parts. :)
