I really don't understad how some people are to short-sight to call this episode a "filler" one. We don't just knew valuable information about the mistery of the planets, we were witness of the moment the kids lost their innocence... Literally, we watched some mid-class kids from a rich country going to a civil war country, like Syria, Sudan or Afghanistan. We saw Fern emotionally broken, Wim taking the situation seriously for first time, Neel facing his fears. This was a deep psichologycal develop episode... and they are calling it "filler"? Come on!
It was an excellent episode, directed and crafted carefully to open up the real web of the story being told, by the very writer's of the story! Me thinks you need to watch it again. "Watch it for mice!" (As directed to Doug and Bob McKenzie)
My lazy theory on At Ackran is that the people of the planet realized about their planet's supervisor, leading to an overthrow of the planet's government. Afterwords, the survivors of that conflict split into the waring factions we see in this episode.
Letting his ship strand and killing all crew is a bad way of getting a treasure - unless the place itself is the treasure. My thought is, that AtAttin was something like Asimovs Foundation, founded to protect knowledge during rough times. It seems that the captain intended to protect the planet by destroying the coordinates and giving SM 33 the order to attac any treasure hunter there. Also it must have been a long time ago that the ship landed there, according to the condition the corpses were in. I don't think the captain would have lived to the time the series takes place. What's important in this episode is for sure the cannon on the roof. If AtAttin has the same it will be useful when the pirates arrive.
If this is considered filler - I honestly wouldn’t mind multiple episodes like this. Go to all of the At planets and show the differences in each. Neel is the undercover mvp and true love goes long way in Star Wars always. Expect that storyline to continue at some point. I love seeing each characters change of heart the way we did throughout the bad batch too! It builds character and relationship with the audience. Sign us up for multiple seasons. Please.
Meg, I am likely not the first to say this, but I think this is a One Tin Soldier thing. I think the treasure is just Peace: boring, banal, ordinary Peace. Obviously it will be more complicated than that, but we will have to wait and see and I am certainly excited to see indeed. Perhaps the pirate captain came to At Attin to escape the terrible world of piracy and live a kinder life. Love your videos, by the way. Thanks.
I like the social experiment idea. It makes room for At-Achran being a war toen planet. Maybe each "At" planet is a different experiment. The supervisor may have decided to see what would happen with an all middle class planet, or an all ultra rich class planet. And at Achrsn could have been the one were several factions were established, peaceful at first, but then seeds of doubt were purposely spread around. I liked the growth of Fern and Neel in this one. The show has been well written and well paced so far.
I just got D+ back and have loved this series. The entire cast clicks so well. SM-33 transforming into the violent destroyer reminded me of the droid in Rebels that transformed from a protocol droid to a killer.
Almost forgot, I do believe that Jod still have the credits. He used his force abilities to overpower the Hatters, maybe force pushed them or something. Then he took the animals and went for the kids. That's why they didn't show us that scene
The rat like creature in the droids head is dodgy. If you watch, SM-33 is struggling to remember about the planet until the rat thing pops out, and then it repeats it's "don't remember" phrase. I dunno, it could be sentient.
Hi Meg, awesome video, I agree that it is getting more like Wizard of Oz after this episode, but there does have to be coordinates to at attin somewhere and I am sure they will find them, because from pictures earlier we know they get home, well I am enjoying the series so far and this was a great video thank you SWM
SMEE is the Captain. Off'd the rest of the pirates, crash landed inside the Onyx Cinder and was damaged in the process. The memory problems could be from the crash or more interestingly the little "mouse" infesting his wiring. SMEE is confusing himself and the captain, similar to multiple personality disorder, when it comes to the "captains orders".
I always figured that the other 8 planets were not completely blown away, either. Bombarded from orbit perhaps, poisoned, plundered or just abandoned. Don't know if we'll have time to see them all though. In fact I seriously doubt it but I wish they would, personally.
I predict that Neel learning about the secret laser cannon on the roof of the dilapidated building is going to come in useful when they get back to At Attin, since the planets are literally built on the same plans.
I agree with you, Meg! One thing I am sure of, Episode 4 was in NO way "filler". Every bit of it was geared towards the story line! I am quite bemused by those that are missing the near divine 'craftiness' with which this story is being presented! We've been given loads of clues, but we still have not been given the 'what' that these clues lead to! The major trick to solving a 'case' is not usually in answering "w" questions (what, when, where, who, why...), the real key is answers to "how". If you can find out how, most of the other questions will be answered! But without enough forensic evidence, we still don't even know what we are trying to figure out! Such frustration. Brilliant! The lead clue, so far, is imbedded in the name "At Attin", but we just got hinted that in Episode 4. Indirectly, I might add. The main question that I am wrestling with right now is this: Why does SM33 act SO much like he is really the Captain, pretending not to be? Does this question answer itself?
I’m now very interested on why SM-33’s former captain removed any traces of the true location of At Attan? There’s gotta be at least one of the original crew mates that escaped the slaughter
The former captain may have fallen in love on At-Attin and wanted to protect her husband and family from all those treasure hunters as long as possible.
A bunch of pirates are searching for the treasure. He gets the location and they leave to go there. Protecting the location gets him the treasure himself. They get attacked by other pirates still jump to at attin and crash land
Pretty sure KB is the Super-Vizor, and yes I think they are that crass. I am guessing the "go for the off switch" line is foreshadowing, and either Wim or Fern will have to turn off KB, Terminator 2 style.
I agree with this theory, and I also believe that Wim's father is the "Wizard" pulling all the strings. We are going to see some floating head or similar, as you say, but the real mastermind is the famous pirate "Wendle". It could also be that the "treasure" is just peace and prosperity - away from the rest of the galaxy. A place to raise kids with no war.
Im curious why the treasure chamber has that head that resembles Hondo. Maybe Hondo is the supervisor and he finally hit the motherload. When we first met Jod, the metal hat he wore resembled hondo's hat as well.
It clearly is! That must not be a coinkeedink! This has stood out to me since the first episode. The connection to Sabine, etc, is a tad questionable. The connection to the Mortise Gods cannot be denied. Perhaps to the World Between Worlds, as well!
I find the people who shriek "filler" don't know what they're talking about and like to complain, plus they can't say what is filler until they've seen an entire season or an entire show. BTW, a one-off episode that isn't part of the overall plot is not necessarily bad; it just depends on the episode.
All I want is to see Jude Law's lightsaber and a new Sith lord in four episodes. Maybe the supervisor is an imperial warlord who had a hidden base in that mysterious world.
Overall I agree with your theory, what I have been trying to separate in my mind is, well, is this Fallout? And like At Attin is New Vegas with the pirate captain, long dead, but its his persona the Supervisor took on (because it had to be some time since the Onyx Cynder crashed, maybe not super long, because in crashing in might have buried itself, and it didn't take the kids long to dig out the entrance but it was deep enough that the droids didn't notice it). I am still convinced that Wim's dad has figured out more because of his job. I also suspect that at least one episode will be bounty hunters catching up with them either bad ones sent by Brutus or one sent by K'ymm (who you think could be Din and that is how they expect to avoid the second half malaise).
The "Imperial Helmets" the people on At Achron have could also be Salvaged Galactic Marine Helmets from the Clone wars era, they're even the same colour :D (with the frontal fabric peice removed)
Maybe the Supervisor is the one who destroyed the other eight worlds and knew At Attin was the one he could experience the treasure -- freedom, security, control and the money. He also knew he could hide his truly creepy little soul...
So many possibilities…. Maybe the supervisor is the rat’s cousin. The rat living in SM-33’s eye socket is the captain of the Onyx Cinder. So much wild speculation…. But it is Star Wars.
I could see At Attin being the last planet the pirates go to. The others could be actually destroyed before they got there, leaving only one viable Treasure Planet let. Its also possible they plundered the other planets already so coordinates to them wouldn't matter.
Very Good to have been given a short time to spend watching my Favourite Galactic Hostess today ! the next 4 weeks are welcome to take their time as we are 1/2 way throught this Story !
I agree with tge Wizard of Oz parallel. I thought the same thing and was happy when you mentioned it in your video. I noticed the Imperial infantry helmets as well, and just assumed that the Imperials had been there previously. I couldn't quite place the tank they were driving, and uh, I was also, I'm curious about their lack of some heavy blasters. And they seem to all have changed modified blasters
Great review! I hope (kinda already know based on trailer footage) they are going to figure out how to override sm-33's programing and he will remain in the skeleton crew.
I love Crew, most enjoyment from Star Wars since the First Mandalorian; I really hope Lucasfilm goes with this series as Mando's replacement, and we have four more seasons over the next six or seven years and watch these children grown up as in Stranger Things
Tagging onto your mention of the Imperial helmets, there is also a need to mention the AAT we see them utilizing. It is almost like the planet was found during the clone wars and maybe after the decommissioning of the droids the empire established an outpost there. Just a thought.
I think this past episode had a foreshadowing with the big cannon. She said it’s from ancient times, it’s the last one that works, and they made a big point that elephant kid saw how to activate it. If At Attin is the same… how likely they have the same canons? To fight off the chasing pirates perhaps when our hero’s arrive home? Or????
Not sure I am with you on this. It is a good theory, but I do think that when they crached they all died, except SM-33. But maybe the planets are experimental. The supervisors or the one above them, created these worlds as copies, then they gave them different circumstances to live there. Just to study the behaviour
Add to it that I think the og Captain/Supervisor is actually Jod's father, and he was left behind as a child while pirate dad went off treasure hunting...
I mean it would make sense, like the factories in Andor, putting citizens to work for the Empire. I suppose if the Captain did take control and then the Empire fell, whoever was in charge of looking over the project maybe didn’t survive. So the Shadow Council had no idea it existed. Maybe? Idk
As always, a very interesting and insightful video! 👍 You make some compelling points to support your theories. As crazy as my thought sounds, I am still leaning towards that mural artwork being a very loose depiction of the Heroes of the Rebellion, even though I am at a loss to explain how the residents there could be aware of them yet not of other major developments in the galaxy outside of At Attin. Until the series explains it, I'm sticking to that theory. 🙂
I think they’re all highly advanced droids, like the humanoid cylons from the Battlestar Galactica reboot with some of them unaware that they’re droids.
I question why the captain left his ship behind. He either had to buried it really well or destroy it. If he was actually alive that is. The only possibility I could think of is he used an escape pod in orbit to escape from something and lost track of the ship afterwards. For possible motives to erasing the coordinates to At Attin, I had thought he was a spy sent from At Attin to confirm and erase any leads towards the planet after the Empire appearing to win in the war. It is hard to believe he is in a leadership position if he isn't a native of At Attin especially when it already had its own civilization and government before he came along.
If the captain kill all the crew before getting to At Attin, why was there a skeleton on the ship? Either some were still alive or the skeleton was the captain. Perhaps SM-33 kill him but if so, why use a dagger? And who or what is strong enough to impale the body off the ground? I think there is even more mystery here than we have seen so far.
Great analysis. However, I differ in one point with your interpretation: I feel like At Attin does fit in eerily in with Andor. At Attin gives me somehow dystopian vibes. We mainly see it through the eyes of the kids that simply take a lot for granted without questioning too much. And kids being kids, they will rebel and test their boundaries, no matter the society. And yet… under the suburban setting, I personally find At Attin very unsettling. Maybe it’s because I am upset of the way they run the schools: no living teachers, no discernible social or emotional teaching goals. The whole career options seems to depend on a single test at a very young age, with no further influence by the children or parents. Security seems to be tight to the point of suffocating and unreasonable, like when the security droid catches Wim and Neel. So far, we’ve only seen people who mildly rebel against the rules, like a bunch of teenagers with childish acts like tuning their bikes and racing. But the drastic reaction of Wim missing class, I wonder: what happens to people who truly challenge the system. Since they can’t leave the planet, do they get a treatment like Andor in the imperial prison? It’s nothing concrete that I can point to, except for a feeling of doom that lies beneath the suburban bliss.
Take a closer look. The "bougie looking planet" has x-wings flying around it, so it's not cut off from the New Republic like At Attin is. Or are they actually on Canto Bight??? Looks very similar. Would make a nice easter egg.
Liked the episode very much. Felt a bit like filler but moved the story along nicely. Looking forward to more about At Attin and the other related worlds
Part of me wondered if the barrier also has some kind of time distortion, and that ruined planet actually WAS At-attin. Just a different time from when the kids are from.
I have a history-inspired theory. Just as the Allies secretly appropriated Nazi hoards after WW2, the Jewels of the OR process the spoils captured from the Sith during the long War against the Jedi. Hence the secrecy.
Maybe there is going to be a massive pirate fight happening on At Attin if Jod Na Nawood’s former pirate crew from Port Borgo is somehow going to track them to At Attin.
FILLER - i understand what people are saying.. but do people not watch other programs/series etc.. there are times when the show has to stop being action and do some character development... i know my life isnt 24/7 action..
Meg, keep up the good work. Here is something to look into for future content for you, since you are one of the only channels that i trust to listen to because of a neutral but positive approach and presentation to Star Wars. During the latest episode, Neel talks with the child soldier and explains his way of life, being peaceful. It’s almost a Buddhist perspective of non-violence and being peaceful. Neel describes himself as weak and scared and that his clan is weak because they don’t want to fight and just want to say sorry and be peaceful. When the loud explosion erupts with Neel leading the group on the frontline, his initial reaction to the blast was to stand firm, ready and prepared for whatever it was. Watch the film, Neel’s defense activates when it is fight or flight mode, despite him saying he’s scared and just wants peace. This leads to what i want to share with you because no one has picked up on it yet. These species and peoples of At-Attin were selected and purposefully chosen to be on this planet because of their characteristics of bravery and so on and so forth. They are on the mural in fern’s house, so Neel’s species and many others were chosen to participate in this grand project, The Great Work, over hundreds and hundreds of years. Fern is a natural born leader who needs to grow into her leadership role, as well as Wim and KB. They all exude qualities that would help a planet prosper, even though At Attin is peaceful and their jobs are just to analyze money. It’s bigger than what people are looking at. Unknown regions. Treasures and devices. Whatever treasure, device or whatever goal the Great Work is to accomplish is the plot device to connect everything together. Tanalor. Devices Cal Kestis found throughout the game. Skeleton Crew is setting up the integration of new material to harmonize with existing material. Neel’s species is a brave species of peace, but courageous during wartime or when they need to be. Please keep up the Great Work, Star Wars needs to be treated with precious care and attention now more than ever. Even if it’s Disney. It’s still STAR WARS. Have a great day, keep up the Great Work, Meg. Luke searching for Jedi artifacts.
well I'm really enjoying it. I grew up with star wars and I even love the Ewok movies. And this show kind of gives me that feeling. Another story line but set in the star wars galaxy. and its a great mystery so far. Its engaging. That's what you want right?
from a 100 feet above view on the show .. i think atakrin (war zone) may show what happens when XYZ occurs where as At Aton is currently a control group where the droids rule and control everyones lives ... i also think that the treasure pit may exist because the droids protocol is to put treasure there and even though the supervisor is probably not there anymore they just continue to do their job.
This treasure that keeps being mentioned, wouldn’t all of these planets have the same treasure or the capacity to have that treasure.? Perhaps the treasure is peace/harmony? But all think there is great wealth there. Like with the Spanish in South America. The real worth there was salt. I do agree something is in that tower, maybe an ancient Jedi.
I do think the planets are a project. If it is a master supervisor or maybe a sith project. Maybe to create credits for their plans in the shadow. But still it feels like the planets are build up aa copies of each other. The hoses looked exactly the same. Then they put the planets in different situations to see how humans would behave, and what way made them work more or less like willing slaves.
I was convinced At Akran was At Attan after 30 years of war and misfortune. I’m still not sure it isn’t. The same buildings etc.. Surely it’s not duplicated to that extant
No, the captain couldn't just like nothing join the Great Work, because the security droids would notice him. Yes, maybe he could reprogram all droids or got to the Central AI and somehow persuaded it, which both seems impossible. Then the people would notice, that there is a new person in this isolated community. They would notice, that there are no documents with the Captain, no digital trace, he was never born, never had a single relative, never studied, neber worked, never existed. The droids noticed crashlanding ship, they did, when it was leaving the planet. They either didn't notice a sentient living being there and let it rot - there are most probably other ships, but are for unique situations, not when group of children is missing. Maybe the captain was punished by the droids from elimination to jail of some kind or frozen in carbonite. Then it is possible, that the droid is actually sentient, pretends that he is just serving the wishes of captain. Then maybe is captain invisible, has perfect mimicri, is from some species, that can perfectly hide or pretend, that's not sentient.
I'm starting to think the rat is the captain.
Had the same thought.
It’s disney. The rat is gay probably
How very harry potter
It's Rat-Attin
I had the same thought and it would be pretty on par for Disney to dangle the answer right in front of us the whole time
It'll end with Wim waking in his bed late for school. There's no place like home.

There’s also none of Neel’s species present.

They have business with Extraworld people thoug
@@gabrieleguasti5503 That's true, they said they purchase armour and weapons from outside the planet
Maybe the Supervisor is the one who destroyed the other eight worlds and knew At Attin was the one he could experience the treasure -- freedom, security, control and the money. He also knew he could hide his truly creepy little soul...
yes! i was thinking that too.. erase all other and keep it al to himself
I hope that it's none of this.
Great point about this show feeling like a classic SW "extended galaxy" adventure. I think that's its greatest strength.
Great review and good series. You’re always gonna have those culture war people, you just have to ignore them.
Tagging onto your mention of the Imperial helmets, there is also a need to mention the AAT we see them utilizing. It is almost like the planet was found during the clone wars and maybe after the decommissioning of the droids the empire established an outpost there. Just a thought.
nice work Meg🎉
I think this past episode had a foreshadowing with the big cannon. She said it’s from ancient times, it’s the last one that works, and they made a big point that elephant kid saw how to activate it. If At Attin is the same… how likely they have the same canons? To fight off the chasing pirates perhaps when our hero’s arrive home? Or????
If the planets have been “copied” I wonder if the characters might also have duplicates (clones) like a large, social experiment.
Why isn’t there a nod in the comments to spaceballs in addition to goonies etc
I think that the treasure is also not what others ( the pirates etc) think it is either.
I mean it would make sense, like the factories in Andor, putting citizens to work for the Empire.
I suppose if the Captain did take control and then the Empire fell, whoever was in charge of looking over the project maybe didn’t survive. So the Shadow Council had no idea it existed. Maybe? Idk
Thanks Meg! Hello There🙂
As always, a very interesting and insightful video! 🙂
I really loved this episode. The planet inhabitants were quite interesting and the girl was really special. 😊💕
I believe you may be spot on with the wizard theory. Love the series thus far.
I think they’re all highly advanced droids, like the humanoid cylons from the Battlestar Galactica reboot with some of them unaware that they’re droids.
I enjoy these videos
Good thoughts, Meg!
All who are in the tower. Maybe some are guarding the ship
I am still loving it so far.
But the Captain would have visited the other planets, to erase At Attin there as well, right?
We've got no evidence either way!
The imperial helmets could be explained - they did say they traded hides for arms with outworlders. So they apparently aren’t as isolated as At-Aton.
I think the treasure is the Planet At-Atin itself, as a quasi peaceful paradise.
Meg this show is very very good .My Daughter will love it. The children are amazing actors
I had the same prediction when I was watching the episode
FILLER - i understand what people are saying.. but do people not watch other programs/series etc.. there are times when the show has to stop being action and do some character development... i know my life isnt 24/7 action..
For some reason early on I thought it might tie into Dryden Voss's syndicate.
Is there a need for the arrow seeing as there is only one person in the picture??
I have been thinking that the treasure is going to be Genetic rather than Monetary for some reason.
i love this. It is so much fun
2:42 in the treasure room the "crystal skull" symbolises hondo? look closely?
Do you pronounce it @@-in or eighty-eighty-in?
Yes Lucas Films do more of this!! It's got that Andor, Mandalorian and Rebels vibe. Please no more Acolyte trash please. Keep doing this.
I’m starting to believe the jewels of the republic, is the star wars version of the Fallout Vaults,
What if one of the parents ends up being the Supervisor?
well I'm really enjoying it.
Interesting theory, Meg! It makes sense. We shall see.
