big up brooklyn. coney island and bed stuy. wish i was born, raised, working, married and living in the brooklyn hood. im from crappy west london, uk unfortunately. stuck in this crap hole. lol. big up newcleus for contributing to the electro funk sound. peace out!
one of those records you play the whole sides untouched...was like you journeyed with them...only we were breakdancin while they jammed...my teen years...badass tracks!
Absolutely glad you're able to enjoy my visuals for this amazing song once again. When you get a chance, you should post a recording of your Automan dance moves. Now that would be King!
True old school style man. Thanks for keeping it alive. I saw these guys and met them at the fresh fest in 84. The fat boys, Run-d.m.c., kurtis blow, Beasties and more I can't remember. Got most of their autographs.
Snap!, la bouche, culture beat and the other eurobeat OGs were influenced from Newcleus, Kool Herc, Spoonie Gee and the other 70s/early 80s hip hop OGs.
I actually have this cassette and other cassettes from Newcleus but I also have the Connie album on cd from the same record label. Back then, not many people understood this type of Electro Rap stuff. But I sure did. Because I still listen to these old skool jams. I think Latin Freestyle and Miami Club music evolved from this as well as Eurodance. This video is cool and I like the robot. He is a true Automan. Newcleus themselves who still exist today "2015" are still a band but some of the members are not with them. I actually saw them on a "Freestyle Extravaganza" show in Conn. "Mohegan Sun Casino" in 2012'. They were ok. But I mis the 80's music scene like mad crazy.
Electro was how we thought the future would sound Shame black electronica never gets a mention, even though it wad around way before the likes of the human league etc Great funky tunes
No it wasn't. Human League started in 1977, the year Giorgio Moroder's "I Feel Love" also came out, Throbbing Gristle began in 1975, Kraftwerk released "Autobahn" in 1974, and Silver Apples in 1967. But you're right - more attention should be paid to 80s electro icons like Newcleus, Bambaataa and Cybotron, etc. And they were first before techno, house and all other purely EDM genres.
Wrong. In Europe everyone knows even today the great to come out of Detroit etc. These guys still are considered absolute top-tier in the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Ibiza, etc. In the US I think people don't generally know so much about the history quite so much but hiphop is bigger in the US also.
@djbonk77 Not sure what the category has to do with it. "I Feel Love" was written by Giorgio Moroder, an Italian. There was definitely no "black electronica" before 1977. Black electronica started in the 80s, not "before the likes of the Human League". The OP's claim is incorrect.
@TheOxforddad Wow, that' impressive. I haven't begun to investigate what my video source was. I compiled this on my old PC 3yrs ago. Well, I'm glad you enjoyed my use of their animation. Thanks for tuning into my channel again! Happy New Year 2012!
I loved this video the first time it appeared! Great to see it again! Love Newcleus! But I've been dying to know for ages what the cartoon is! What is it from?
Please tell me where did you get this video part from, starting at: 4:11 Because I remember this seeing in my youth, when I was young. I would love to know where or what it's from. Please let me know.
That's Awesome! That would be an amazing Kodak moment. Did they invite you into the bus? Btw, i posted a Whodini mix a while back. It's not perfect by far, but i tried. Search my video posts for: Whodini's Haunted megamix (contains 5 songs from 1983)
Tracks like Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer and Davide Sonar - Spiritual Fire are definately inspired by this!
Not only inspired but sampling it!
@@stevewilson20 That's what I mean. 😄
100%😂
The business. Electro funk has always been one of my inspirations. This was the future in 1984. killer rhythms and sounds.
i am totally repeating this video like for hours , amazed at the visual and song. flipped out when i first heard this growing up in brooklyn.

4 people need music lessons. this is just waaaaay ahead of its time
Fresh back in the day. Still fresh in 2021.
underrated classic
I prefer THIS over Snap's "rhythm is a dancer" by 100x fold.
This used to be my jam! Still is!

Before Rhythm Is A Dancer
are you sure you don't mean "Money" and not rhytm is a dancer from snap?. They used this sample in their song Money.
and electric beat crew from east germany use "Jam on it" for "go go"
@@kaia16 , no,
it is "Rhythm Is A Dancer" from 'Snap', sample it, put it:
8 notes lower, and 1 octave lower,
try it out, you will reckon.
Newkleus are THE MOST underrated band of the 80s. Geniuses and WEEEEEEEEELL ahead of their time.
@@kaia16 they used this one in Rhytm is a Dancer. But considerably slower.
love those electro funk jams. They kept you in shape :D
Hadn’t heard this song in probably 30+ years. Thanks for bringing back the jams!
Dope ass Song love the beat!!!!
This could totally be spun in a club today and fit right in! Nice!
It's was use in the 90s for the samples the riff and slowed. It down for snaps rhythm is a dancer
@@michaelosullivan4989 cool! Thanx for the knowledge!
The Dude in the car in front of me tonight in St. Pete was blasting “Jam On It”, so I am just learning about Newcleus.
This is magical!
Dope ...the sound of these times ...are always in my mind.
Better thAn any of this new shit
Yeah, before Generation Strange "Gay Mumble Dress waring Rappers"!
this song is still fresher than a majority of what is being put out NOW......
Play the start on half speed.
Rhythm is a dancer riff
0.5 speed = Rythym is a A dncer - SNAP!
Fantastic song and video clip
Rythm is a dancer .
Very Underrated!!!!
Rhythm is a Dancer
It's where snap got the sample for rhythm it's a few Octives slowed down

Miami bass definitely latched onto this era for good reason. The Miami execution usually leaves much to be desired however.
I know this post is a while back but Eurodance has roots from Disco/Italo not Electro
here in 2022
RHYTHM IS A DANCER sampled them in the 90s
Same song! I was like 'i know this tune somewhere' too bad Newcleus is less known.
Bomb ass video. Newcleus 4ever
