Our cabinets are custom built oak from before we got the place, but are not deep enough for both sections. April has nice deep kitchen cabinets. We want 36" depth on the lower cabinets and 24" on the uppers. They don't sell that it's gotta Be custom built.
@@SaltGrains_Fready 36” deep!!? The standard is pretty much based on a 24” deep cabinet. Maybe on an island but for a regular cabinet that would be insanely deep.
Great project and execution. I like the jigs for the slots and cutting repetitive curves with your router. You always have something I learn from. I built something similar 10 years ago when I was 60. Now at 70 I am really happy about not having to be down on my knees trying to wrestle pots out of cabinets. Thanks for sharing this project.
Awesome! Take your time and don't be afraid to try. I started with small, simple projects and built on the experience and skills learned. It is so satisfying looking at something, knowing you did it yourself rather than buying it. Thanks for watching.
That's a cool shelf. Granted, Rev-a-shelf makes a similar rack, but this is DIY all the way, so I love it. I can see this approach being employed for other things as well such as vertical sheet pan and casserole pan storage. Nicely done. Thanks for sharing your efforts to upgrade your home and shop. It's what drew me in initially and keeps me coming back. Have a great "Hill Country" day, young lady.
It took you only a day... BECAUSE YOU HAVE AN AWESOME FREEKIN' SHOP!!! I have a "decent" shop, and will be tackling a very similar project that wifey has been asking for, forever! I got a lot of good ideas from your video. Thank you for sharing it! I wish more kitchens were designed with ALL drawers, instead of cabinets with doors. It would make life so much easier...
My kitchen badly needs a makeover, so I've had a few of the new modern style drawer set-ups in mind for some time. However, what to do with the pots and pans has been a mental struggle design wise. Now, thanks to you April, I no longer have a mental block as to how the cabinet design will be for the kitchen remodel. Wonderful stuff you do. You're more than a woodworker, you're an artisan of wood. 👍😁
Thanks April! I always appreciate your reasonable projects to make life better. I bought wire ones that were expensive and am disappointed as the pan handles seem to hang up every time it is opened up. This is much better.
April - Thanks for another great idea. Not sure I'm quite ready for this level of work, but will keep your video handy when I am ready. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you. I was just going to hang them on the wall because I don't want to mess with a jumbled mess but this looks like it could be a feasible solution
The problem of overly-full and hard-to-use kitchen cabinets is a difficult (and perpetual) organizational chore, and this video is even more full (of good ideas) than our kitchen island! Failure to de-clutter will, however, sabotage any organizer model, but what I like about this one is that it's flexible enough that if you can't immediately get away from 'the stacks', or slowly grow back into them, the pull-out-shelf aspect at least makes the stacks more accessible. Well done, April!
A perfect addition to that would be to rip out the upper shelf and make drawers for there too. That way the stuff isn't hid in the back and you get more space out of the cabinet which is currently wasted above those new drawers. :)
I have been watching your channel since you had a little garage shop. You have inspired me to start my own channel. is moving a little slowly but I am enjoying the journey. Thank you.
Awesome. Thanks for including your jigs that would certainly make cutting slots so much easier. I just finished building my router table and now have some new ideas on how to use it.
Thank you for making them the correct way with a dado for the.bottom. So many UA-camr staple , nail or screw tips bottles on which is temporary at best.
I love this for the creative jig use. Very helpful from a shop techniques perspective as well as being a cool project. Who says project videos are dead?!
Where or what inspired that build. Great idea Love it.I personally don't like pots and pans hanging in the open. This solves the stacking of pots and pans in drawers. .. You've got skills. keep these ideas coming.
My wife and I looked at having a company install bottom and middle drawers, like our old house had, but good lord were they super expensive. For the money they wanted, I could invest into some nice shop equipment like what you used here and build my own AND have the capability for future projects. You definitely gave me some good ideas here. Appreciate your videos!
Suggest you take a piece of cutting board material that is thicker the the metal part on the drawer slide and a fix it to the drawer the is next to the door. I learned the hard way as when the drawer opens the metal edge with scratch the door. Added a piece of old cutting board and problem solved.
Hi April I love watching your videos and love woodworking a lot.. It's fabulous what you do.. I just hope some day you could share a video on how to make a cabinet for the kitchen where you just don't have to bend down.. I hope to make it for my Mother.. Where she doesn't have to reach down for flour, rice with flip cover container and big pans.. Thank you..
Excellent video as always. Even with years of experience, I learn something new every video - the tape trick (I normally use double sided carpet tape - but like your trick!) and the router slot jig are just awesome. Oh, and with it being so hot now in Texas (at the time of my comment) it is odd seeing the colder weather gear - but this was quite the strange spring, so it makes sense. thanks again for sharing.

Thanks, April. My wife saw this, so I won’t be playing golf next Saturday.

Bill you haven’t shot less than 70 over in ten years you old sailor. Make your wife some pullouts !
Damn clever woman!

Haha this comment made me belly laugh! I’m in the same boat brother!
I like your Demolition Ranch shirt.
Right?!! Two THUMBS UP on the hoodie. (and i'm still calling it the abandoned mansion)
It sp great that after becoming a big television star. You still have time to make these videos for us little people. LOL
Love your 1/4" groove jig. Way to go girl!
I really need these in my kitchen! Now if I just had a wood worker in my life!
All you have to do is a google search. We're everywhere.
You can be a woodworker. Just decide.
WOW, I think that's better than what you can buy already made. Great video April.
Absolutely love this! I dread fighting with my pots and lids every time I get ready to use them. No more! This is awesome!
Hyy brother 🙏🤝🤝🤝☕
Thanks for sharing with us April. Always enjoy watching your projects. Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋

Every kitchen in the world should have this!!!
Purpose built jigs from scrap for the win! I keep the ones I make and often reuse them for other projects.
You are so smart. I LOVE your videos! I want to learn woodworking so badly. Even though I'm 67 years old I'm never tired of learning new things!
Awesome! Take your time and don't be afraid to try. I started with small, simple projects and built on the experience and skills learned. It is so satisfying looking at something, knowing you did it yourself rather than buying it. Thanks for watching.
You're the best organizer I've ever seen.
Love the router jig for the rabbet cuts. Brilliant. 👍👍🇨🇦
Always making things that make life more enjoyable! 😌
Love seeing you wear a demo ranch sweatshirt. Never would have taken you for a demo ranch fan!
It's amazing April Wilkerson works
👍👍
I am considering doing this for our home. Thanks for the vid. I do have 2 words for you: dust collection!!!
Dovetailed sides and a recessed bottom would make it look so much better. I think I would use under-mount slides instead of side mounted slides.

I just did this for my wife. THANK YOU for giving me the idea and showing me how to do it. It came out really good!!
That is awesome! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.

👍😁
Thanks April! I need better organization in my small 1950's kitchen.
Very nice solution to an issue pretty much everyone shares! Thanks for sharing!
Nice table saw jig. And I'm pretty sure April could handle the baddies with or without SimpliSafe.
Yeah the DR shirt may be a tip of the hand.
Loving that Demo Ranch swag
That jig is a great idea!
I really enjoyed this one April, I love organization, awesome work! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
This combines simple and functional to create a great build. Showed it to my wife and she asked why I haven't built it yet. 😄 Next project.
Sounds great! I love the ease of finding what I need and wish I had thought of it years before. Enjoy the build and thanks for watching.
Good job April
Great example of simple functionality. +1
Glad you like it!
Thanks April! I always appreciate your reasonable projects to make life better. I bought wire ones that were expensive and am disappointed as the pan handles seem to hang up every time it is opened up. This is much better.
Saving this for the future, this will be a great upgrade to our kitchen cabinets. Thanks, April!
You are so welcome!
I should make this to organize those pans and covers. Thank you April.
Nice job and design. Very helpful project.
Thank you so much! That is an enhancement to my sliding drawer plan.
Niiccceeee, I will be trying this at some point in my life....Thanks.

As always, I learn so much in a short time. Thanks again April. I'm going to put this one to work very soon.
Definitely need this for my kitchen
Thank you for the nice and inspirational video April! I have added this to my home bucket list. 😊👍
Nothing worse than juggling a stack-o-pots to get to the big fry pan at the bottom. Nice built-in April!
I love this for the creative jig use. Very helpful from a shop techniques perspective as well as being a cool project. Who says project videos are dead?!
I need to get a good router table - I love this one - and NEED it

Brilliant, will build this if wood prices ever come down
Excellent video as always.
