- This video the first in a 3 part series focuses on basic stropping of a scandi grind carving knife, in this case the Mora 106. I discuss strops, compounds, angles, and showcase how to get your carving knife "shaving sharp". Stay tuned for videos 2/3 and 3/3, coming soon.
I love how you kinda take it back to when you started, and kinda let people know what you wish you new when you first started
Loving these videos bro. Great content. Can't wait for more.
mike walters good to hear! Thank you. I have two more vids that will be on the way soon.
HuronSpoonCo great!! I'm going to post a link every 10 videos on my profile for this channel. Keep em coming bro
mike walters thank you!
Brilliant video Sean, Great content.
Looking forward to the crook knife sharpening video too although I think I need a different crook knife, mine isn't that good to be honest
Keep it up buddy

jason thomas thank you. What spoon knife are you currently working with?
HuronSpoonCo I think it's a mora 162, which is a double edge for right and left hand users
jason thomas I had that knife when I first started carving. Not a fan personally, as the secondary bevel needs work to be effective and since it's a double edged tool, thumb push cuts are a bit of a safety concern (among others).
Hi, did you make the handle yourself? It seems custom made, if yes could you give more information on that? Thanks 8n advance.
mustafa berk yes the handle was made by me out of Maple Burl. It is currently an extra knife in my kit and will be up for sale to whoever wants it.
Do you clean the strops after use at all?
Jon Gardner I try to make it a point to clean after each strop session, though admittedly I sometimes neglect to do so here and there. It’s important to keep your strop free of debris so as to keep it nice and flat across the entire length. This will ensure your bevel stays honed perfectly flat
