soo im the only one who never had a problem with splat…? splat works so well for me and the bleach works so good for my hair and the color always lasts me a year which i love
I'm so glad you commented. It sounds like you are getting exactly what you want from Splat. Honestly there's nothing wrong with that. I think the trouble comes in when people want to frequently change their color or when they are targeting a specific volume of developer when lightening. Thanks for watching!
My hair gets a bit dry but like a little hair oil and it’s fine. Also my hair grows out super quick and I keep it very short soooo it doesn’t truly matter. Also it’s hilarious to me bc I use splat whenever I have a really bad mental meltdown which is about every time the previous one fades
Same. The color has lasted a year for me too. I chose purple. After first dying it, it is a DEEP blue then eventually fades to a DEEP purple… The only problem is… it won’t come out! I bleached my hair and it turned magenta… bleached again & it’s still HOT pink! Tried removing it with the whole dawn dish soap, developer, and baking soda trick… NOTHING! It will not come out unless I do something extremely damaging I guess. The rest of my hair is blonde. Like super blonde.. it’s only on the underneath of my hair, I want all of my hair to be blonde but it just won’t come out. Help???
So I started using splat a few months back, before I saw any online controversy over splat. I’m a natural brunette, and I’d only dyed my hair with box dye once or twice before and I’ve never bleached. I’ve been using the double lift, which is supposed to work well on dark hair without bleaching and honestly? Great results. It stays pretty bright for about a month, and then starts to fade from there. I’ve been dying my hair regularly so I haven’t tested how long it takes to get the dye completely out, but the faded red or purple (which is the colors I’ve been using so far) honestly still look good in my hair? Part of that is probably bc I’ve only been dying about half my head, but still. I also haven’t had a ton of issues with it bleeding or anything. Like it runs the first couple times I shower after dying but the only thing it’s stained is my shower curtain, which was like $7 so I really don’t care lmao. But yeah idk it doesn’t seem to be damaging my hair, the texture of the dyed part feels the same as the parts I’ve never dyed. I’m happy I don’t have to bleach my hair to get fun colors, and I’m happy that I only have to pay $10 every other month so. It’s ideal for a broke college student. In conclusion, I was very confused when I realized how many people absolutely hated splat, bc it’s been doing exactly what I want it to. I’m glad not everyone thinks it’s terrible 😅
If you don't mind me asking, what is your natural hair type? I'm also a natural brunette and my hair is between fine and medium, I would say. My scalp tends to be oily and my ends are fine (They're not dry and they're not oily), but my hair is also flat and straightttttt. I was wondering if maybe you thought that it would work well on my hair?
I HAVE DARK BROWN HAIR AND I'VE USED SPLAT FOR BRUNETTE HAIR FOR SEVERAL YRS, THE NO BLEACH ONE, AND I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT, IT STAYS IN PRETTY LONG, IT COVERS MY GRAY WONDERFULLY & MY HAIR IS STILL HEALTHY AFTER USING IT
I used this and the bleach to dye my hair for the first time. For whatever reason, my hair loved it. Instead of my hair acting damaged by the bleach, it felt soft and voluminous. It looked better than before. The color looked amazing; I used one of their blue colored kits. The color has lasted for MONTHS, maybe even a year. But it's faded out really nice, and doesn't look ugly imo. For me and my purposes, it worked out really well!
a tip for anyone with thick hair like myself! get two to four boxes. i split dyed my hair black and pink. the one box of pink splat was not enough for even half my head. so if you have really long thick hair and plan to dye your whole head of hair, buy at least 3 or four boxes or the color you want. (I have type 3c hair, 27 inches. 18 inches when completely curly)
Ive heard horrible things about Splat and had mixed results with it, its nothing remarkable but nothing horrible either. Been dyeing my hair all sorts of unnatural colors since I was 11-12 years old (am now 39 so pretty experienced with dyes by this point) I use to use Manic panic, Punky colors and RAW in the 90's, and 00s and started using Splats Pink fetish in 2012, my biggest complaint was that it would look really bold on my bleached hair the first few days but then fade to a paler pink soon after. Plus you really have to use a lot of Splat or risk having blotchy spots. This is annoying because they don't give you that much in the bottle and I sometimes would have to go over one section of hair numerous times before the color would saturate it. So definitely recommend 2 -3 boxes on long or thick hair. Its ok, I'm planning on using the berry blast color, never tried this shade before, and hoping it turns out good! Thank you for the honest review of Splat, i always wondered why so many people seem to hate it
Do I think splat is the best of the best? No. Do I think it’s an excellent way for beginners to get into hair and hair color? Absolutely! It’s cheap, and if you’re careful or have the right hair type for the product, it will come out exactly like Semi-Permanent hair color.
That's the real issue. Many people don't know how to be careful, what the proper hair type is or that it may not ever come out. But these issues persist whether or not you are using Splat.
@@CosmoDad and the thing is, Splat offers a “Fade Defense” kit (which essentially is just a color sealer). But people either CHOOSE not to use it and complain or just don’t do the proper research needed. There’s also been rumors going around that Splat has Henna in it. I took the time to actually research and have that question answered. I’m debunking that rumor right here, right now: it’s false. The color comes out easily with “L’Oréal Colorzap,” or “Punky Colour: Color Off.”
Lol the henna thing is funny because one of the problems with henna is often that it has other things in it like oxidative colors and metallic dyes. What a silly rumor
@@CosmoDad I was very hit or Miss about Splat for a long time because working at Sally Beauty means that you HAVE to use the professional-grade product, otherwise people look down upon you. But, here’s the thing, I kinda like splat better😬😳👀 I believe it’s way more pigmented and the colors that they offer are fricking GORGEOUS!
You are not wrong. Really one of the main differences between professional and consumer colors is customizability. Professional colors tend to have a wider color palette and are easily mixable. I wonder how well Spat mixes...
I am currently using the midnight collection from Splat, midnight jade to be precise. I love it! Not many dyes out there have a green color to use, especially a dark green, and hardly any offer to go over darker hair without bleach. Their midnight collection is fantastic for not wanting to bleach! I will say I have had trouble removing Splat before when I attempted their purple first before green. I absolutely love the green so much though that idk if I'd ever want to go back or change it! The problem will probably arise when they discontinue it (hopefully they won't!). As of now, I've had my hair midnight jade for a year, and even when it grows out I still constantly get compliments and asked where I got the dark green shade from. Everyone who knows dye have been surprised when I say Splat, and then they go "Ugh! Splat?! It's terrible for your hair!!" I just shrug and say my hair always feels great afterwards and I have yet to have it damage anything. I do a touch up every 3-4 months. 😊
splat midnight amethyst is great for a bottom base layer then apply blue shades on top of it. When the blue starts to fade instead of getting the yellow and green tones you get the purplish blue tones. It looks nice and you get compliments. people will question if you "just colored your hair again" because it will look more purple or more blue depending on the way the light hits it. Been using that color combo for a few years now and when you have darker hair you can just throw on a layer of the midnight amethyst mixed with midnight indigo on the roots with out doing a whole bleaching of roots every time it starts to grow out. I only do the whole bleach processes once a year.
My girls have blonde hair. Splat stains their hair forever. It does fade a good amount, but even a year or two later, I still see hints of the reds and purples in their hair.
I’ve been trying to get my splat red hair dye out for a few days now, if tried color remover, lightener with 30 developer 3 times! My hair is a magenta/pink. It’s no where NEAR blonde. I’m convinced this is going to stay in my hair till it’s grows out.
As someone who always has purple hair and isn't worried about it staining my strands I'm glad someone made a video about splat, especially the shade I was considering because ive been using expensive permanent dyes and idk if I need to be using that if I'm staying with the same color all the time For reference I usually use ion color brights radiant orchid usually but imo it's not blue enough after a wash or two but I can't renew my color every week so splat might be a better option (after seeing the results honestly im considering buying it, i have short hair and for the price, it lasts a long time) some options like splat really do work for some people and i think thats why its still on the market
Hey so gonna give my honest take on splat too since I’ve recently been using it. Tldr: you get what you pay for and if you know what you are doing it’s not the worst but it’s not comparable to a pro. And for short hair cost of screwing up isn’t as bad for long or medium hair.otherwise be prepared to live with it. A guy here with shorter hair. So penalty of messing up or needing to recolor is at worst 6 months using midnight indigo and midnight jade. Bleach free kits.(Brown hair.) Pros: lasts freaking forever. Isn’t terribly expensive Strong color (not box accurate but could say the same of others.) Half a bottle was more then enough. Can handle a lot washes. (They say 30+ and I’m gonna side with them on that after 2 months with both colors.) Cons: it lasts forever. It stains everything. (Nothing short of bleach cleaner gets this stuff off I swear.) Despite midnight line being marketed for brunettes models on box are photo enhanced blondes. But there are swatches on side that show either light brown or medium brown hair. Each color has a different range limit. However natural bleaching (apple cider vinegar) is enough to get it in effect range unless you have dark brown or black hair. Long development time of an hour and 15 minutes. Personal experience: first time with indigo didn’t lighten and dye bled a lot because I was paranoid about washing out the color and didn’t know make up wipes could get what got on my skin off. But also discovered my “sulfate free shampoo” was not in fact sulfate free. Color only noticeable in sunlight. Cool raven feather color effect but not what was advertised. Second round with indigo with new aragan oil based shampoo and bleeding wasn’t nearly as bad but I still was pretty timid about lathering again fearing bleeding. Color remained same as first. Third time new hair with jade, Lightened hair with cider vinegar for an hour, used brushes and during washing lathered the crap out of it. Virtually no bleeding aside from a few missed spots on my scalp behind head. (Virtually unnoticeable.) Color is still not as advertised but it’s actually noticeable and a nice deep forest/British racing green. Happy with my third round and for fourth mite take 2 hours to lighten my hair to get the ACTUAL box color. It’s not the best or professional grade but “you get what you pay for.” I think is as fair a statement for this brand as you can get. Hell at least their “for brunettes” line actually sticks unlike my attempt with got2bs.
A tale of 2 results: My sister has nordic hair that holds even a 'wash out in 1 shampoo' color for EVER, while I, thanks to a native American ansestor....got Asian hair. So we both bleached and did 1 hour with heat on the splat blue. HER color held so well we needed a color lifter to make her 'work appropriate after 1 week. Mine washed out in a week. We BOTH ruined a lot of towels from the secondary transfer till the dye came out. In order to ACTUALLY get my hair to midnight blue...I reverse enginiered and indigo dye for wool/silk and added a protine treatment. Gentian violet+vinagar+gelatin cooked in for an hour (or 2) with a hairdryer gave me far more stable color with far less transfer on washes. If you want punk colors...maybe don't knock fabric dye techniques till you try them since NO salon has EVER given me that kind of stability in a blue due to the fact I LOOK eastern European....so they dye my hair like I got my sister's nordic locks.
I've seen so many videos where people say it fades really easy but I haven't experienced that. I've used professional permanent dyes that faded much faster, in fact the first time I used splat my hair stayed that color with almost the same depth for like 3 years I literally had to cut it off because it just stopped fading/bleeding
Some hairdressers won't even take a client who wants to have splat color removed. Because it's very difficult to come out. I've heard that from some of the professional hairdressers who I subscribe to on UA-cam. Plus, I tried it and it was very hard to remove from my lace front. Took multiple applications of color remover and bleach to remove. Even then it still didn't get it out completely.
Often when a color turns out unexpected I will try and problem solve with my guest. We discuss the fact that they can't have what they were originally going for, but what will it take to get them something different than what they have? Like for the example hair in this video we would discuss what we can accomplish with a pink base. Deep rich reds, a red brown or even a neutral brown of we add the proper greens. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I'm still working on solutions for the SPLAT problem and will post of I discover anything reliable
The only thing I would suggest is to use the bleach in the splat box instead of using blonde or with 20 volume just to see how that turned out since that is what most people will have on hand if they’re changing their hair color
I use splat naturals semi permanent hair colors. I've used the dark blue, dark violet, and a dark magenta. I always start with fashion colors and then lighten them up with conditioner. I also will use Wella color charms paints semi permanent and my favorite is honestly kiss tintations....which I'm sure is sacrilegious to an actual stylist but it's super cheap and I like the undertones in their colors to mix up my own with a really good conditioner and did I mention the cheap part? This is where I get my "silver" color or mute tones plus my yellow has lasted for ever even needing it to make orange, yellows qks greens in my rainbows. I have four kids and three daughters I can't afford anything else lol and I think they should thank their lucky stars their mother can pull off a rainbow prism(on myself I usually only do the money piece). Fancy hair is something my kids can always have when I can't always afford some item they want
I’ve been trying Splat Lusty Lavender for about 3 times now, using their bleach and color, it gave me a beautiful streak down one side of my hair, the color was quite long lasting until my next hair cut, where my grey roots were about an 1 1/4” long, This last time my hair dresser just colored my scalp under my streak, it made for a very rich colorful streak , but up really close, it looks like someone got a little carried away with a purple crayon, trying to decide if I’ll color my scalp again, But I ready do like the Splat product :)
That's the real crux of the issue. For those who want it to last as long as possible, it might be a good choice. For those hoping for it to be gone before the hair grows out, it's definitely the wrong choice
I just used splat midnight scarlet for the first time. I shaved my head in October and have a decent short length so I wanted to try this cruelty free brand. My hair is already pretty thin. I feel the dye really thinned out/ split my ends and thinned out my hair. I damaged my hair I worked to grow out from scratch. I hope eggs and olive oil will repair my hair.
I used the purple about 2 months ago, was still getting purple water and soap. It faded a lot but I got tired of it. Bleached my hair Wednesday and ended up with bright ass pink hair. I was going for a pale yellow. I like the pink well enough but had no idea this would be the results. I wouldn't use splat again and wish I had seen this video first.
Ahhh did you just use regular hair bleach? Did you try the color wash from splat? I’ve done the vitamin c and baking soda shit and it faded a ton but it’s far from gone and I’m scared to go buy bleach and have this exact thing happen! Did you have to cut it to get it gone?! I’m so sorry your hair turned pink! Ughhh I wanna go blonde for summer and it’s feeling further away with purple still on half of my hair (I did like the bottom half purple ombré)
So personally the biggest problem with splat is the lightener is very very strong and it can dry your hair out really bad. DO NOT USE IT ON CLEAN HAIR AND IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF HAIR USE ONE BOX OF LIGHTENER PER SECTION SO 4 SECTIONS, 4 BOXS, AND DO 1 SECTION AT A TIME AND RINSE IN BETWEEN EACH SECTION.
Yes but can you do a second bleach to pull out the hot pink. I had the splat purple over my non bleached hair. It faded and I got tired of it so I bleached it on Wednesday and it turned hot pink unexpectedly. I don't mind the pink but I want a pale blonde as the base I work from for my new color scheme.
I have used splat for years The only color I've had issues with is the purple both boxes I've gotten after 1st wash both times have turned blue. However the red and the pink and purple have turned out amazing! I love how long this stays in my hair! That's what we want when we want vibrant blues and reds and pinks? The bleach it comes with I'm allergic to it so I always buy a different bleach and get one that doesn't have bleach in it. Splat is my go-to dye when I want different colors!
I have used Splat since it came out. Only issues Ive had was my hair falling out when I used the bleach and stacked my hair in the top of my head..big no no.lol I now use the nonbleaching formulas made for brunettes. I get a gorgeous red velvet color with the midnight ruby.
I’ve used the same exact color with no issues removing it with a semi permanent hair dye remover and then bleaching. I always remove as much color as I can before I bleach bc I’ve had some disasters lol.
The midnight shades do not want to come out of my hair. Which is fine bc I’ve been a forever red head for 15 years, but I wanted to add blonde highlights in my hair for my wedding…smh it would not come out. The only think that would semi work is using a bit of green hair dye.
The midnight colors get EVERYWHERE too omg lol. No matter how much I washed my hair, the color rubbed off on my pillows, shirts, the back of my neck, etc😂 Their new Splat Naturals line is bomb though. I highly recommend those.
lol! The gloves! I just buy the box of vinyl gloves, much much better fit -> better control. Also, I’ve been dyeing my hair since 1989, and I still read the directions every time! Then triple the leave in time - my hair needs a while longer to take the dye but omg, there is no semi- or demi- for me, if it lasts 3 days, it lasts forever! But im a pixie cut gal, so virgin hair is easy to come by, and my work closes to the public every Jan-mar, so I usually just grow out any leftover color then.
lol omg I think I just figured out how to do strike thru but that was not intentional!

I bought the lusty lavender kit for me to try because my hair is dark brown but before black. I only did two small streaks and lifting kinda worked. Unfortunately the dye only lasted roughly after 3 washes into a hideous pink. Since I didn't like adding the dye after a while, I used a dark brown box dye to redye the streaks again. I used the bleach on 4c hair for root touch up and dying dreads purple. Since he rarely washes his hair, it was vibrate for months.
Last time I used Splat, I didn’t bleach my hair, and I’m a natural brunette. It stained my hair horribly. It faded so quickly, and I was left with green hair for over a year until it grew out.
I've used all brands from splash to manic panic lunar tides arctic fox and iro iro and by far the splash works the best for me it doesn't fade super fast its the perfect color everytime
I feel like splat is only bad to certain hair types. For me it's always amazing, best dye i've used. It's vibrant, and hasn't ever "fried my hair". It's always super nice.
I used I think it was a midnight green in March of 2020. My hair is still a light bluish green. Multiple bleach baths, Direct dye remover. That stuff is forever lol.
I used pink and purple splat on my hair 6 months ago I didn't bleach it because my hair is already blonde. It faded pretty quick to some weird colors and when I got tired of the colors I wanted it taken out. I tried doing it myself but I couldn't get it out so I went to the salon and they did 4 different test to try and get it out but it was still there. They ended up dying my hair dark to cover it until it grows out then they said I'll probably have to chop it off. Some parts of my hair you can see purple showing thru the brown dye they put on me. And for the longest time I had a weird pink line at the top by my roots. I just want my blonde hair back 😭
I used the emerald green color and HATED IT! I went to a professional to get a color correction and they just put dark brown over it. Literally no hair stylist will touch my hair because of the green under the brown😢
The color fades yes but if you want it completely out it’s a pain. I bleached my hair 3 times on the section I had dyed it aqua with splat and it never got lighter than an ugly olive like green. I just decided to dye over it with a different brand and you could still see it for years even after I needed to go back to my natural blonde for work and bleached it AGAIN. Wasn’t gone until I cut myself bangs where the splat was and dyed it purple. Over all that time I’m just guessing the only reason it got out was because my hair grows fast and between trimming my hair and getting bangs I just ended up cutting it all out
I’ve ruined my hair with red splat. It takes a month to get off of your scalp and it won’t come out of your hair... hair color remover or even bleaching will not remove the dye. My hair hates me. I would steer clear of splat and use manic panic or arctic fox instead.
ok so i want my hair to stay red for a while, i have like medium brown hair with the under layer bleached… i plan on just dying it brown when it starts to fade or i get bored with it, do you think that would work? i just used manic panic for my red and it’s already starting to lift (after about a week)
Just dont use splat. Use a different brand. As a hairstylist it's the worst to get that pink out. I've worked in one client with about 4 different methods and it's still baby bay pink on her platinum hair...or just go to a proffesional :).
i have brown hair. almost like dirty blonde. i used the red semi permanent splat hair dye & I need answers. Does it come off??? will i get my natural hair back after awhile ?
Yeah I'm going to stop watching here because I know that my personal opinion will override my ability to keep my mouth shut. I've been using this brand since 2019 and I've done 4 different colors (different times..I didn’t trust myself to try to do the ombre kits because my luck sucks lol). The very 1st time I bought amethyst Chrome & I absolutely loved the result. It was so beautiful and i never had any problems with it. Well then I decided to go to pink. I got pink fetish & omg I LOVED it more then my favorite color of purple. It was so bright & vibrant and lasted a long time. The only problem i had was getting it out lol & I honestly believe it's because the bleach kit that was bought for me wasn't by splat because I used 1 box of their bleach before and was a platinum blonde..no problems. This time the bleach was bought for me without me being there and the ( and i quote, ) " name brand, well known " bleach that was bought for me would not take the pink out of my hair after 2 boxes. I put a hat on and hid my platinum blonde & pastel pink patches that was left & I went to to get me 1 box of splats bleach kit and it took the rest out. 1 box v/s two of the other. Then I stayed a platinum/bleach blonde for a while to give my hair a rest. That name brand bleach had my hair in bad shape and that's after the 1st box I used of it..something that had NEVER happened by using the bleach by splat...& i even lost a lot of hair..by that I mean I lost my length because what didn’t break off i had to go have my hair cut to remove the damage. I still haven't gotten my length back. When I decided it was time to color my hair I went back to my purple and used Lusty lavender. It was more vibrant, lighter then the amethyst chrome. It was beautiful. Well the next time I wanted a change ( this was back in March or April of 2024) and wanted something a lighter shade and i found a pastel lavender by a different brand. So I used Splat to bleach my hair & Revlon to color my hair pastel lavender. Besides the Lusty lavender & the Pink Fetish, this was my 3rd favorite color. Well October 14th I was able to buy me 2 boxes of Midnight Violet by Splat. The picture is such a beautiful, vibrant shade of purple. It's stunning. This time of year I wanted to go darker then the pastel lavender but not as dark as the amethyst chrome. Even though my hair isn't as long as it used to be (that other bleach that i had to use that 1 time that messed my hair up) it's still thick. So I still have to use 2 boxes of color. Like I said my hair was currently Pastel Lavender & I was going to Midnight Violet. Since it was darker then what I had ( but so beautiful & vibrant) i didn't use any bleach...plus I just knew the thick color solution of Splat would cover the pastel of Revlon. Well I HATE to have to say this but it didn't. My hair (😢) is currently like 3/4 different colors...some reason my roots are now back to my natural color of a Sandy blonde (it's more sandy then blonde for some reason) and it goes probably like 2-3 inches down into the length of my hair and it's like that throughout my hair everywhere that my hair attaches to my head. ( framing my face... framing my ears..going along the nap of my neck..everywhere! Some places it goes further from my roots down into the length of my hair more then 2 inches..some places i bet ya it's 3-4 inches. Not done yet though . There's then the transition from the blonde to a what I call a mixture of what looks like purple & pink combined..that transitions into the Midnight Violet that's almost the color that it's supposed to be.. that goes into a almost like darker pastel lavender that's mixed with blue. Yeah i have no clue as to where in the heck the blue came from. AND LASTLY there's the last 1-3 inches that is the almost perfect shade of like Lusty lavender and Midnight Violet. I am like on the verge of shaving my head because of how extremely awful my hair looks. I've cried off & on the past 4 hours because of how terrible it is. And I don't have the money to even think about trying to fix it. I don't get paid till the 28th (October) . I have 2 boxes of Lusty lavender but I know that I'm going to need to start with a blank canvas by getting 2 ( at the very least 1) boxes of bleach by Splat ONLY and then using the lusty lavender and fix this mess. I just don't know what i am going to do till then. When I say my hair is EXTREMELY TERRIBLE LOOKING I don't want to leave the house till I get my check. I can't believe this happened. I don't know if the color i bought on the 14th was old or defective or what...all I do know is this...I've NEVER had this happen with this brand before and in all the years that I've colored my hair (the very first time I ever colored it i was 12 almost 13 yrs old and let's just say i am past 21..lol) I've NEVER had a problem with any color or brand not sticking to my hair EVER! I don't know how to fix my hair without bleaching it BEFORE I use the Lusty Lavender boxes I have (2 of them). I don't know if they would cover up this...ALL these different colors I've unfortunately got going on and I'm scared to try to find out. Praying
I bleached my hair and in the box the stuff inside didn’t look like every other one I’ve bought but didn’t think much of it so I decided to go ahead thinking they changed the formula or something like that but it burnt my head and my hair been falling out every since then. So I believe it had done something to my scalp and my hair isn’t growing Went from think thick hair to thin thin hair I have done the test and everything and it still got me good. I really want to dye my hair again but I don’t wanna spend my money on splat anymore because I’m terrified I will lose all my hair the next time Maybe it took me to long to put it in so that could have been the issue also. Not sure but something didn’t go right
Splat dyed my scalp better than my hair... My hair feels way less healthy than any time I've ever bleached my hair. Now it's half and half colors... 😩 I want to start over but I'm scared it'll damage my hair WAY too much....
It made my hair fall out now it’s super thin and me and my hair dresser don’t want to bleach my hair to get it out because of how damage my hair is now so we’re going through process do not put this in your hair please
this is much more believable than that post that circulates every few months about the "hairdresser" that claims splat is fabric dye and couldn't bleach it out at all immediately after coloring.
If you have the time and patience, when in doubt, do a test strand. Find a small section somewhere between your nape and occipital with a good mix of grays and do a test piece. Let it fully process and see how it looks. If it turns out wierd that small piece is easy to hide. If it turns out well, at least you'll have a lot less anxiety while it's processing.
Many people, I know, are truly truly broke to the point that they cannot afford a hair salon ever so they prefer to risk it with a box dye and leave it up to god if they go bald they bald I personally can relate we’re not gonna keep our hair forever. Worse comes to worse I use a wig, but I’m not going to stop looking good just because I can’t not afford hair salon
That's fair. I wouldn't recommend Splat Bleach but there are price comparable alternatives that give you more control and if you want color that is more likely to last forever Splat is great. If you want something that fades predictably there are alternatives at a similar price point.
I got my haired dyed the first time in September 2021 by my parent's friend and she made it look really good Even tho we bleached it on the scalp of my hair and not all the way towards the tips it was still good The color faded tho and it's now like a burgundy color I want to dye it myself this time and see if it'll work out Also this video was really helpful thank you :]
Thats what im nervous about. My youngest has had that purple in jer hair for like 7 months. And shes ready to go back to natural hair colo. Oops color did nothing. Haha. Fml
I did my hair with blue splat I want the blue color but it did not turn out I did not add that pack to it was I suppose to add the SPLAT LIGHTENING BLEACH HELP
This is something i dont understand whatsoever. Why are people seeing it not coming out of hair as a bad thing? I always saw this as a great thing, fading sucks and so is plopping chemicals on your head every single week. My MP used to last me a month + till i found out theyre ties with ajimal murderers which are peta... Splat seems to do an even better job at that. Im not sure why people are diving into the hair dyes and then get mad that it wont come out. I mean its a dye, wht you expect..? I blame the people, not the product. Products great! Folks just need to be smart enough to do their research before they reach for hair altering chemicals.
See with me it never stays lol. I can have the lightest blond and do any color and wash my hair and it will all wash out!!! It's like I put it on my hair as a conditioner not a dye. It never stays I hate that.
Been growing my hair for 6 years it’s down to the back of my knees. Had a manic moment and dyed it with splat That same purple color I hate it. I’m fucked huh
😕oh nooo! You are probably right. If you just colored it and didn't bleach it first, the very best thing you can do is, don't try to remove it but try and let it fade on it's own. It will take a while but will leave your hair in the best condition. But you are probably right, capital F.
I honestly don't have a favorite brand. I wish I had a better answer. For Demi/permanent colors I have used Wella extensively and find it to be fairly user friendly as an entire line. For Semi Permanent, I use Matrix SoColor Cult alot but also like Joico, Goldwell, Pulp Riot, and even Manic Panic Professional and Arctic Fox
Depends on how faded the purple is. My educated guess is that of all the colors, putting red over faded purple probably has the best chance of turning out the way you want it
Splat destroyed my hair. It stayed in my hair almost a year, had to cut off 90% of my hair because it was so damaged. When I told splat what happened, they deleted my comment.
You wanna know why splat doesn’t come out with bleach? Most fashion dyes you can just bleach out splat you can’t because it’s not a dye it’s a stain it literally stains your hair. It literally has the same chemical components that furniture stain does. My very healthy normal hair became brittle and started falling out. I tried for over a year to get the remnants of the stain out of my hair before I finally just cut it all off and guess what now that my hair is growing back in its healthy again. Funny that it was healthy before I used splat and after I cut all my hair off and let it regrow it’s coming in healthy but during the timeframe I had the stain in my hair my hair was damaged. This is a hill I will literally die on splat is not good for your hair there is no changing my mind about it because I know the truth I’ve experienced and lived through the truth. My hair is never heat treated in anyway I wash it I condition it and let it air dry I don’t brush it when it’s wet I take very good care of my hair.
You don't need hair to be a hair stylist, barber or master colorist knowledge is power so don't hate on someone because they know more than you due to their chosen profession.
Hi i just wanna say hi and that i used this midnight scarlet i like the hair dye but every time i shower the color comes off and my water looks like blood and my hands and towel turn red... It does not stay on
I used it last night trying to dye my hair blue... Long story short, I've washed my hair 4 times and the water is still rinsing blue... Never again!!!!
I was told splat is just like your men’s 10 minute hair colors because it’s a salt color and it flattens the cuticle. Making it nearly impossible to get anything inside or out of the hair cuticle until the hair is completely grown out which is why we HIGHLY discourage using a splatt. But I’m curious how are you tested your developer
To the best of my knowledge, splat is not a salt dye. The dyes that use metallic salts rely on the metals oxidation for color so you get reds and blacks that build up over time but you can't make vibrant colors from them. As far as testing the developer, I used a fermentation tube. I have some other videos explaining the process. Thanks for watching!
@@CosmoDad when I went to school for cosmetology. My instructor told me splat will flatten your cuticle. I was also told the same about henna so I guess I figured they were the same type of hair color.
soo im the only one who never had a problem with splat…? splat works so well for me and the bleach works so good for my hair and the color always lasts me a year which i love
I'm so glad you commented. It sounds like you are getting exactly what you want from Splat. Honestly there's nothing wrong with that. I think the trouble comes in when people want to frequently change their color or when they are targeting a specific volume of developer when lightening. Thanks for watching!
I Guess everyone’s hair is different because that dye made my hair super thin and chunks of my hair started to come out
My hair gets a bit dry but like a little hair oil and it’s fine.
Help???
@@tinyghostcat14 Time for a buzz-cut boo.
Would u recommend the splat bleach? I've been wanting to bleach my hair but don't know what to use
O
a tip for anyone with thick hair like myself! get two to four boxes. i split dyed my hair black and pink. the one box of pink splat was not enough for even half my head. so if you have really long thick hair and plan to dye your whole head of hair, buy at least 3 or four boxes or the color you want.
Switch to Manic Panic! It's the original, first hair color line to carry rainbow colors. It will fade much better.
Arctic fox is really good too!
@@Stephaniemickleartic fix lasted 2 weeks in my hair if that
I’ve been trying to get my splat red hair dye out for a few days now, if tried color remover, lightener with 30 developer 3 times! My hair is a magenta/pink. It’s no where NEAR blonde. I’m convinced this is going to stay in my hair till it’s grows out.
You are probably right. I'm sorry that happened to you. Thanks for watching though
FYI I have splat pink fetish in my hair right now and it’s pretty much exactly the color that the purple turned .....very interesting
That is interesting. I would hazard a guess that they share some pigments. Thanks for watching, and all the comments!
Thank you I was trying to figure out what volume developer it was
I thought prob 30 but thank you!
As someone who always has purple hair and isn't worried about it staining my strands I'm glad someone made a video about splat, especially the shade I was considering because ive been using expensive permanent dyes and idk if I need to be using that if I'm staying with the same color all the time
For reference I usually use ion color brights radiant orchid usually but imo it's not blue enough after a wash or two but I can't renew my color every week so splat might be a better option (after seeing the results honestly im considering buying it, i have short hair and for the price, it lasts a long time) some options like splat really do work for some people and i think thats why its still on the market
Bleach free kits.(Brown hair.)
Pros: lasts freaking forever.
Isn’t terribly expensive
Strong color (not box accurate but could say the same of others.)
Half a bottle was more then enough.
Can handle a lot washes. (They say 30+ and I’m gonna side with them on that after 2 months with both colors.)
Cons: it lasts forever.
It stains everything. (Nothing short of bleach cleaner gets this stuff off I swear.)
Despite midnight line being marketed for brunettes models on box are photo enhanced blondes.
Third time new hair with jade,
Lightened hair with cider vinegar for an hour, used brushes and during washing lathered the crap out of it. Virtually no bleeding aside from a few missed spots on my scalp behind head. (Virtually unnoticeable.)
Color is still not as advertised but it’s actually noticeable and a nice deep forest/British racing green.
My hairdresser told me flat out, the Splat just won’t come out.
@@crystalgrondin72 Take it from me, I've actually used it and it doesn't come out! Your hairdresser is spot on correct!
@@theresiasingleton7055 Unfortunately for me, I had already used it and wanted to get a new color done professionally 😭
@@crystalgrondin72 I'm so sorry! 😞 If only you could have found this video sooner. I know I wish I did.
Good point
yeah I have both and was trying to figure out how to take 5 to 9 at home. (shh)
I’ve been trying Splat Lusty Lavender for about 3 times now, using their bleach and color, it gave me a beautiful streak down one side of my hair, the color was quite long lasting until my next hair cut, where my grey roots were about an 1 1/4” long,
This last time my hair dresser just colored my scalp under my streak, it made for a very rich colorful streak , but up really close, it looks like someone got a little carried away with a purple crayon, trying to decide if I’ll color my scalp again,
But I ready do like the Splat product :)
That's the real crux of the issue. For those who want it to last as long as possible, it might be a good choice. For those hoping for it to be gone before the hair grows out, it's definitely the wrong choice
tbh, I dont care what anyone says about splat. Ive tried soo many brands and absolutely nothing works as well as splat does
I just used splat midnight scarlet for the first time.
BIOTIN
I used the purple about 2 months ago, was still getting purple water and soap. It faded a lot but I got tired of it. Bleached my hair Wednesday and ended up with bright ass pink hair. I was going for a pale yellow. I like the pink well enough but had no idea this would be the results. I wouldn't use splat again and wish I had seen this video first.
bro my hair is bright pink rn how did you get it out it’s so embarrassing
Ahhh did you just use regular hair bleach? Did you try the color wash from splat? I’ve done the vitamin c and baking soda shit and it faded a ton but it’s far from gone and I’m scared to go buy bleach and have this exact thing happen! Did you have to cut it to get it gone?! I’m so sorry your hair turned pink! Ughhh I wanna go blonde for summer and it’s feeling further away with purple still on half of my hair (I did like the bottom half purple ombré)
You need to use a color remover then bleach .
Gonna go with Splat so I can be purple for a few months and then just bleach it to hot pink when I'm tired of that
...It's a strategy
Yes but can you do a second bleach to pull out the hot pink. I had the splat purple over my non bleached hair. It faded and I got tired of it so I bleached it on Wednesday and it turned hot pink unexpectedly. I don't mind the pink but I want a pale blonde as the base I work from for my new color scheme.
I have used splat for years
The only color I've had issues with is the purple both boxes I've gotten after 1st wash both times have turned blue.
Wow. Was not expecting it to turn pink.
Usually violet turns green with removal. That pink was something else though
This channel is underrated
@@lilithstryker8849 oh yes they do! Lol the midnight colors pigment just shows better in my hair compared to the naturals
lol!
I just want my blonde hair back 😭
Omg!! This is awesome I could die my hair purple and then dip dye it in bleach and have purple pink ombré hair
I think with any dye it just depends on your hair type, I didn’t have a great experience with it but it wasn’t horrible
Using the midnight blue splat has been the WORST decision I’ve ever made on my hair!!!! 😢😔 STILL trying to correct this terrible mistake!!!
I used the emerald green color and HATED IT! I went to a professional to get a color correction and they just put dark brown over it. Literally no hair stylist will touch my hair because of the green under the brown😢
SAME HERE! I can’t get it out of my hair for the life of me.
@@itzellitsacire9386 that’s how mine is Rn with the green I’m trying to get rid of it but i went to 2 salons and no one or bleach I tried and nothing
I literally use this color BEACAUSE I don't want it to come out!
That's sound advice
ok so i want my hair to stay red for a while, i have like medium brown hair with the under layer bleached… i plan on just dying it brown when it starts to fade or i get bored with it, do you think that would work? i just used manic panic for my red and it’s already starting to lift (after about a week)
It should work. Depending on how much the red fades. More than likely it will be a warm brown or even red brown once you color over it.
Color oops remove red splat :)) turns orange a bit but u can def dye over it.
Praying
So Splat does stain everything and gets stuck in my hair forever, but I eventually go back because the colors can be really pretty if done correctly
I bleached my hair and in the box the stuff inside didn’t look like every other one I’ve bought but didn’t think much of it so I decided to go ahead thinking they changed the formula or something like that but it burnt my head and my hair been falling out every since then. So I believe it had done something to my scalp and my hair isn’t growing
Went from think thick hair to thin thin hair I have done the test and everything and it still got me good. I really want to dye my hair again but I don’t wanna spend my money on splat anymore because I’m terrified I will lose all my hair the next time
Maybe it took me to long to put it in so that could have been the issue also. Not sure but something didn’t go right
I kept the splat hair dye in for almost an hour. I’m crying. Someone help. Will it come out????
Splat dyed my scalp better than my hair... My hair feels way less healthy than any time I've ever bleached my hair. Now it's half and half colors... 😩 I want to start over but I'm scared it'll damage my hair WAY too much....
Side note - I used Splat hair dye.. without their bleach. And still... It feels awful.
What about the midnight Splats with no bleach? I am about to try it as a friend swears by it for greys so hard to color.
I have natural ginger hair and dyed my hair purple like 2 years ago and it's still stained a bit 😭
I love splat, just make sure you are committed.
I got my haired dyed the first time in September 2021 by my parent's friend and she made it look really good
Even tho we bleached it on the scalp of my hair and not all the way towards the tips it was still good
The color faded tho and it's now like a burgundy color
I want to dye it myself this time and see if it'll work out
Also this video was really helpful thank you :]
Nah man it’s been over a year since I dyed my hair ruby red with splat and I have these beautiful red natural omber highlights in my hair
Been growing my hair for 6 years it’s down to the back of my knees. Had a manic moment and dyed it with splat
That same purple color I hate it. I’m fucked huh
😕oh nooo! You are probably right. If you just colored it and didn't bleach it first, the very best thing you can do is, don't try to remove it but try and let it fade on it's own. It will take a while but will leave your hair in the best condition. But you are probably right, capital F.
What hair dye brand do you recommend?
I honestly don't have a favorite brand. I wish I had a better answer. For Demi/permanent colors I have used Wella extensively and find it to be fairly user friendly as an entire line. For Semi Permanent, I use Matrix SoColor Cult alot but also like Joico, Goldwell, Pulp Riot, and even Manic Panic Professional and Arctic Fox
Will it be ok to use midnight pink on professional dyed hair thats already pink
Is the midnight pink a semi permanent? If so, it shouldn't be a problem
The green head is dope
Thanks! I might do a video on her some day
I use splat hair color and I love it
. thank you for what is, imho the BEST information about it in video
Dyed hair purple with splat it is starting to fade
What will it look like if I die over it with red splat ?
Depends on how faded the purple is. My educated guess is that of all the colors, putting red over faded purple probably has the best chance of turning out the way you want it
@@CosmoDad it did for the most part. But the sides are more red, could be cuz they did keep the purple color.
Splat destroyed my hair. It stayed in my hair almost a year, had to cut off 90% of my hair because it was so damaged. When I told splat what happened, they deleted my comment.
Splat didn’t destroy your hair, you did lol.
I have midnight ruby
so funny the balding man is a hair dye expert. I have the identical hair as him :(
You don't need hair to be a hair stylist, barber or master colorist knowledge is power so don't hate on someone because they know more than you due to their chosen profession.
It’s the bleach that causes hair damage I try to stay away from bleach!
Hi i just wanna say hi and that i used this midnight scarlet i like the hair dye but every time i shower the color comes off and my water looks like blood and my hands and towel turn red... It does not stay on
Eh ima just do it and shave ut of after u get done 🤣
my fiancee loves using splat
So you can just bleach out and get pink!!!
I used it it came out red and black on my hair i just wanted red not black . i will never buy this brand every again didnt last that long
❤️
It is not that bad
All the guys reviewing this is bald lol
I used it last night trying to dye my hair blue... Long story short, I've washed my hair 4 times and the water is still rinsing blue... Never again!!!!

It’s been two weeks for me and my hair is still bleeding and staining towels after the shower😩

I’m surprised you didn’t go over the salt dyes but impressed with your knowledge
