Slaughter have great songs. Up all night, fly to the angels(both versions),spend my life, eye to eye, burning bridges, that's not enough, you're the one,the wildlife, shake this place,Get used to it, American pie, gave me your heart, shout it out, streets of broken hearts and hold on.
The bass player, Dana Strum, was the one who got the Randy Rhoads and Ozzy audition off the ground.
When Mark Slaughter hits his high register, I'm instantly back in 1990, standing in my first apartment with this cassette playing over and over. Every song on this album feels like that memory.
Jay, their KISS connection:
- KISS hires Vinnie Vincent to replace Ace Frehley, but is fired shortly after
- The “Vinnie Vincent Invasion” is formed, which includes singer Mark Slaughter and bassist Dana Strum, who then leave and start “Slaughter”.
And Slaughter opened up for kiss on their debut album in 1990
@@Jayhawk9
Yep, I saw them in Providence! 😀
I dated Dana’s ex girlfriend before she upassed away from a car accident in Phoenix, AZ., shortly after we stopped dating and she moved to Phoenix/Chandler, AZ. in 1989.
I loved that song!
@Sal-gh1se - Close. Mark and Dana didn't leave. According to Paul Stanley, in his book, Mark and Dana also fired Vinnie and they stayed and renamed the band. Vinnie didn't do anything again until he wrote a few songs, with Gene Simmons, for the KISS Revenge album in 1991.
Real Love by Slaughter! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Read my mind!! That’s a killer tune!
Or from Vinnie Vincent Invasion, That Time of Year
@@stevenedwards5356 TRUTH! 🔥
I saw Slaughter in 1991 at the Illinois State Fair. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Mark Slaughter.... a cross between Sebastian Bach and Tom Keifer. So good.
Some others hair band songs to check out:
Leatherwolf - Hideaway
Steel Dragon (Steelheart singer w/ various others) - We All Die Young
Poison: Fallen Angel, Every Rose Has Its Thorn
Demont (aussie band) - In My Dreams, Close To The Edge
Saigon Kick - Love Is On The Way
Dragonforce - Through The Fire And The Flames, Trail of Broken Hearts, Starfire
Bon Jovi - Living In Sin, Born To Be My Baby, Til We Aint Strangers Any More
Born To Be My Baby by Bon Jovi! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Leatherwolf for sure. Great 80s Metal band.
Their song “Desperately” is awesome. Upbeat and he is high pitched a lot!
Shannon Doherty from Beverly Hills 90210 is in the music video for Real Love by Slaughter! 🔥
Desperately by Slaughter! 😎🔥🤘🎸
Have posters, drum heads, CD covers, and ticket stubs signed by all original members of the band .. RIP Tim Kelly ..
A record exec had said by late '80's, he had given up hope on metal until he heard Mark Slaughter's raspy voice, and so he happily signed 'em up! 😁
Next song should
Be “The Wild Life”. You’ll like that. It’s a rockin tune.
I had a brief online interaction with Mark some years back. It's back around when Art Bell passed. Mark made mention of how he missed the Coast to Coast AM shows with Art Bell hosting and how he often listened to the show while traveling on the tour bus, so I replied with an app that streams all his old shows 24/7. He was grateful.
Art bell was the bomb. Nuttier than a squirrel turd. But I loved his show. As an over the road trucker before satellite radio sometimes art bell was the only thing you could pull in out in the desert.
@@timothybuchanan662 and that fitting song Crystal Gayle recorded for his show, "Midnight in the Desert."
Great song! "Mad About You" is a banger 🤘
Mark made Amber smile! 😃♥️
How about a third reaction to Tesla? Modern Day Cowboy or Rock Me To The Top would be greatly appreciated.
Tesla has soooo many...Edison medicine is great...I could name many by them that I love
That harder song you were referring to is " up all night " if you want to hear another hard-hitting song with those strong intense vocal changes by Slaughter check out " Burnin' Bridges "
Taking shots at Vinnie Vincent in that song 😂
My favorite hair metal group of the 80's/90's. I had the biggest crush on Mark Slaughter. Thanks for the upload!
RIP TIM KELLY! ♥️
Pretty sure you covered their power ballad, Fly to the Angels. I imagine the banger was Up All Night.
A highly underrated band from the 80s is Lillian Axe. Had one of the best albums to come out of the 80s -Love and War. Need to react to “Show A Little Love”. Blow you away - Ron Taylor had an incredibly powerful voice, it perfectly fit the genre. Another great band that suffered the same fate is Tyketto. Danny Vaughn has the same powerful voice for the time period and incredible catchy songs ( Forever Young & Wings) from that hair band era.
Lillian axe! ❤❤❤❤ And Tyketto( forever young, and wings", and "burning up inside, " great songs!
Good calls!👍🤟
I've seen Slaughter live four times, three of them in small town Salina, KS. Right about the time they first broke big, I saw them open for Winger and KISS. Fun show, on their last song, KISS actually blew the power transformer to the building. Took them 20 minutes to get enough power to the mics to tell everyone to go home. A friend who was outside said it was just like you see them explode in the movies. They "turned everything up to eleven" on the last song, and brought out the old fashioned KISS sign with the flashing strobe lights. That was just more than the building's power supply could handle. A few months later, Slaughter came back to town, headlining a show with Firehouse. Unfortunately, about 7 years or so later, when grunge had killed off the rock scene, I saw them back in Salina, but this time in a local dive bar with probably less than 100 people. They still sounded great, and they made sure to appreciate the fans that were still coming to see them. Was just a very sad time in music. Luckily, withing a few years, a lot of the reunion tours started. Poison would go on tour every summer, and bring with them three or four other bands of that era. I've seen Poison live more than any band because every summer we would go to those tours to see all the opening acts that we had missed seeing live in the 80's. And once again, there was Slaughter, tearing it up.
ABSOLUTELY MUST LISTEN TO “ Shake This Place”
Days go by.. nice ballad wild life
Mark Slaughter had a great voice
I was 16 when this album came out and I played it all the time. I even got to see them play live in August 2001! Cheers from a Generation X'er in northeast Ohio.
Slaughter! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
J/A couple of big hair bands that you’ve not reacted to in awhile:
Twisted Sister - We’re Not Gonna Take It ( please do the official video as it’s iconic)
White Lion- Wait. another huge song from the mid 80s. Great reaction to this slaughter song!
WHITE LION ROCK! 🔥
When I was in high school, practically all my female metalhead friends were groupies for Slaughter. I didn't care much for the band, but they LOVED Mark Slaughter. I do like his work with Vinnie Vincent's Invasion. Try Dirty Rhythm, Love Kills, or That Time of Year from VVI with Mark on lead vocals.
They LOVED him!! 🤣🤣🤣
another good group from 1990 was Trixter. Give It To Me Good is a banger. Surrender & On And On were great ballads.
Fool For Your Lovin’ or Slow and Easy - Whitesnake. Another huge iconic hair band that you have not reacted to in a minute. Love to see you react to them in the future. Thanks again guys:)
Now You're Gone by Whitesnake! 😎🔥🤘🎸
WHITESNAKE ROCK! 🔥
My first concert - they opened for Cinderella.
"Switchblade Serenade" by Spread Eagle is one of the best songs of this genre.
I can't believe I'm not seeing more Shinedown reactions on here - they are INCREDIBLE! So many good songs - Monsters, Fly From the Inside, Sound of Madness, Symptom of Being Human, Amarylis, How Did you Love, I could go on and on. GO! RUN! Listen! React! ;)
Killer Guitar Solo! 😎🔥🤘🎸
The first time I saw Slaughter was them on a triple bill with Winger and KISS in Houston in 1991. Amazing!! I've seen Slaughter multiple times since then and got to meet Mark Slaughter after a show in 2015. He said I had a nice smile. AWWW!
Slaughter is still performing live, and Mark Slaughter still sounds great for his age, and miles on his voice.
Slaughter's Mad About You is the heavy banger to put on your play list. It's right up Jay's alley.
I love Slaughter! In their videos, Mark always looks like he is singing just to you. Other great songs by them are "Real Love" & The head banger "Mad About You." 😊
I was always a NKOTB, Cyndi Lauper, INXS kind of teen but I frickin loved this song when it came out. I remember buying the cassette single at Sam Goody
INXS ROCK! 🔥
BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE! ♥️
Real love/ fly to the angels
Perfect song 2 cheer up Amber! 😃♥️
Boy can sing! 🔥
Bob Dylan Tangled Up In Blue
I haven’t heard this song in about 20 years!
I was totally into Slaughter.
Amber you always make me smile! 😃♥️
had a blast going to high school with Mark and singing in mens choir with such a talented guy
What you should check out next for 80s rock is Night Ranger. "You Can Still Rock In America", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" are 2 good ones to start with
Love Slaughter!! 💕late 80’s early 90’s were great. Please get back to Queensryche though. Silent Lucidity, Take Hold of the Flame, Operation Mindcrime, Della Brown, Jet City Woman, Empire, the Thin Line, Suite Sister Mary. Don’t let another Year go by!!!! ❤
I love this band. Mark Slaughter has a cool voice and they made some really solid music. The first song you did was "Fly to the Angels", which is a much slower song that you reacted to with a lot of emotion.
This is a great one.Thank you for the reaction Amber & Jay. "Days Gone By" & "Mad About You" is one I hope ya'll will react to "Up All Night was the 2nd song ya'll reacted to
Saw them, Trixter and Poison in concert when I was 16. SO GOOD. Mark Slaughter has an amazing voice.
Is Amber OK? She looked sad at the beginning of the video. :(
TRIXTER ROCK! 🔥
My first CD ever!
Back in the day, the songs that fell between a ballad and a rocker, were referred to as a mid tempo track.
Two songs "Days go by" and "Hard to say goodbye". My favorite slaughter
Mad about You , The Wild Life and Real Love
Desperately is the Slaughter song to do next.
Burning Bridges by Slaughter, off the Stick It To Ya album 😎🤘🤘
First, I am working my way through your 3000 videos while keeping up with your new posts. Second, I'm from Oklahoma too. My youngest daughter is a sophomore at Durant. We live in Kiowa Oklahoma. Third, please listen to some Dermot Kennedy! He's a newer artist. He's dropped like his 3 or 4th album. He writes his own songs and you can feel his passion and pain. I love his songs "Outnumbered" "Power Over Me" and "Kiss". Lastly, please keep doing what you are doing. It's wonderful and a its a bonus to see some Oklahoma folks making a mark on the world.
Good song good reaction
Awesome song and band. 🔥🔥🔥
Up All Night was the name of the rocking 2nd song you guys reacted to from Slaughter. You guys need to react to Shout it out by Slaughter from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey movie next. You guys will love the song as well.
Other Jewels by Slaughter: You Are The One!! Days Gone By!! Street of Broken Hearts!! Hold On!! Real Love!! ...And what about The Warning! They kick a**!
I met the band and have a picture with Tim Kelly, RIP. Must have been around 1996.
Love to watch your reactions ! I am 63 yr old Mom living in Ma.
I had attened many concerts that the J Geils band had here when i was a teen as they are from Boston. Would love to see you react to Whammer Jammer from the Aces album ...J. Geils Band. Love reliving my rock years with you both. And Jay this is all harmonica!
I met all the guys from slaughter and the guys from warrant on the same day at legend valley in Ohio way back in summer of ‘97. They were opening for Alice cooper. Talked to them all for about 15 minutes and got autographs. All of them were really nice guys. Fun times
Some other great Slaughter songs you should check out include "Times They Change", "Searchin", "Love is Forever", "Hard to Say Goodbye"and "Days Gone By" to name a few.
If you look very closely, in the video for up all night and Fly to the Angels, their best song, you can see the drummer has the coolest drum heads on two of his black drums. They read : This Space for Rent. The coolest drum setup is the one used by the guy in Queensryche. I'm sorry I don't remember his name. The chain link connecting his cymbals is so striking to the eyes.
Love slaughter! More please
You should react to more Warrant. Big Talk, Sometimes She Cries, I Saw Red, Down Boys
You guys have got to hear the song Say I Won't by Mercy Me. It is such an uplifting song of triumph and perseverance.
Mad about you, Real love are worth checking out
Check out the song "Love Kills" by this band when they were the Vinnie Vincent Invasion...the song KILLS!!
God bless!!
GREETINGS, Jay💙. Amber 💖. SLAUGHTER: SPEND MY LIFE, UP ALL NIGHT, FLY TO THE ANGELS 🔥❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥🔥❤️🔥
The Wild Life is a great rockin song by Slaughter.
Oh yeah! I had this incredible cassette! You gotta react to Gave Me Your Heart, Mad About You and Burning Bridges!! 🖤
A band that was short lived but I got a lot of enjoyment from. The songs you have listened to so far are all off they debut album. The second album was also very good. Check out the title track 'The Wild Life'.
Gotta hit up "Mad about You"...
Knowing how you guys love 80s hair metal , I can't believe you haven't reacted to Rthe movie Rockstar .
Love your reaction videos! ❤
One of many big hair rock band that bit the dust when Nirvana arrived! 😂
Mark can sing 🎤
Great song, debut is killer, hard rockin, but catchy hooks
Check a little known band called Baton Rouge. One of their songs is Walk like Woman. The band has a great sound you just may enjoy.
You guys saw Dokken in the Nightmare on Elm Street 3- Dream Warriors video. You've seen Lick It Up by KISS featuring Vinnie Vincent on guitar. You've seen Slaughter. Now combine those things with the Vinnie Vincent Invasion and the song Love Kills from the Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - The Dream Master movie soundtrack.
If we're doing hairbands i gotta recommend Great White -Rock Me 🤘💜
Great White Mista Bone. Winger Down in Cognito
This is one of the "Rock Bands" that killed Rock and paved the way for Rap to take over
Go back and check out Mark Slaughter singing for the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. Check out Boys are Gonna Rock and Love Kills. Vinnie Vincent played briefly with Kiss as Ace Frehley's replacement.
Great song, great band,my 2nd favorite Slaughter song, check out desperately ,a great song,We’ve seen them at least four times in the last eight years, check out real love and Mark on vocals for the Vinnie Vincent invasion singing love kills
Pretty maids - little drops of heaven
I saw them in 2012 they're still good is there ever was in the 80s
definitely like it!!
Loved Slaughter back in the day. Still love them, actually....a Lot of the first album was great, especially songs like Up All Night and Fly to the Angels!
I wonder if they are ready for...I don't know Steve Vai or even more interesting Vai with Devin Townsend? A little more instrumental with Stevie's songs, but VAI would be more melody meets vocals I think.
There are plenty of hair band to choose from, that are more like Slaughter...Warrant, Scorpions, Skid Row, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard, Great White, Mr. Big, L.A. Guns, etc
Early 80's suggestion - "Rain" by Dragon.
Grayson Hugh 'Talk it Over'
You need to do "wildlife" and "mad about you." Those hit harder then the ones you've done
Some other bands that didn’t make it huge but I like. Southgang Tainted Angel, Tug of War , Babylon AD Bad blood , Bang go the bells , Lion Never Surrender , Transfomers theme from 1986 movie. Also from Transformers 1986 Stan Bush The touch and Spectre General Nothings gonna stand in our way (ultimate gen x theme)
Need to check out their song "The Wild Life" or "Desperately"
I absolutely LOVED Slaughters 1st album unfortunately Mark hits notes that make it impossible for me to sing along with. LOL Knowing your affinity for 80s metal I think you guys would really enjoy, on your movie channel, a film named Rockstar with mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Anniston. It also includes many artists from the era including Ozzys guitarist Zakk Wylde, Blas Elias from Slaughter, Jason Bonham (John Bonham the legendary drummed from Led Zepplins son) Jeff Pilson from Dokken and a very young Myles Kennedy makes a cameo at the end. It's a fun movie I think you guys would really enjoy.
