    Amazing.
    Perfect.
    Judo in context.
    Why? And when?
    vs how to do the throws.

    Great commentary on all the action. I did judo as a teenager in the 70s, so it's great to see this reminder of how tough Randori sessions are. I'm surprised there were not any sweep attacks or counters during the exchanges. Two very hard working Judokas showing eachother a lot of respect.

    Right on! Loved this Sensei! Peters quick strike Seoinagi to Osoto is beautiful. And using it to score quick right after Christian landed his ura nage just to sap the momentum, pro move. Grabbing a handful of hair also helps seal the deal too, hahaha

    Great stuff. I really like this format. Thanks.
    In the future for this kind of 'commentary' video, would you please incorporate some remarks about which waza are suited to bigger or smaller judoka, and also would you please talk about combinations that occur, or could have occurred?

    my vicarious judo class. thank for the video. I was training till a concussion. not to mention 40 min drive to nearest place to train. At least ou bjj school puts throws in and starts standing for rolls often and we just got a gent who trained judo for a few years. Thanks again for your great channel

    • @christianmlj1767
      @christianmlj1767 5 років тому +3

      ElWapoDeAngel. It’s not legal (hands can’t cross or grab each other since it’s considered a bear hug, which is illegal). I shouldn’t have gripped around the back that way. Good catch! I didn’t notice that.

    When doing the drop Sieo nage when is the best timing or “feel” to do it? I have trouble with the timing

    • @isa100kg
      @isa100kg 4 роки тому

      Heyo! Isa answering for Shintaro while we #flattenthecurve. The best timing for seoi nage is when your partner is coming towards you. A lot of times you can set this up by doing a lot of foot sweeps such as o uchi, ko uchi, and sasae. It's always good to practice putting together forwards and backwards techniques (ie ko uchi to seoi nage) during uchi komi. This will help you with the "feel" part. Hope that was helpful!

    Grown men in their prime doing judo is a terrifying thing. Bro in the background needs to audition for conan the barbarian. BTW I'm a BJJ guy - I'm all about the lying down exercising :)

    Is Christian naturally Left handed? If he’s not I have a follow up question haha.

    • @christianmlj1767
      @christianmlj1767 5 років тому

      Nick Serrano what’s up?

    • @Dynamic6000
      @Dynamic6000 5 років тому +1

      Thanks for responding. I’m right handed and came from a striking background. I find myself drilling traditional stance just fine, but subconsciously anytime I start randori I come out in a left stance. My hands then want to grab as if I was in traditional stance though. My question is if you are right handed did you focus on one side more then the other when learning, or did you just drill both and the side you preferred eventually developed?

    • @christianmlj1767
      @christianmlj1767 5 років тому +2

      Nick Serrano well, long story short, I’m right handed but naturally gravitated to left handed style within my first year doing judo.
      Sometimes when I’m tired I’ll switch it up and fight right handed since I do have some throws that feel more natural from a right handed stance, but it’s usually against a lefty (since to me there’s more throwing opportunities with dissimilar stances).
      I’m no judo expert though, so I have a question in return: What made you question that I was naturally lefty?

    • @Dynamic6000
      @Dynamic6000 5 років тому +1

      Christian MLJ shintaros comment “he does a lot of funny stuff” is something I’ve heard about my Judo. Then I saw your Kataguruma which looked pretty effortless. I find spinning left pretty natural so it resonated with me. I’ve only got about 2 years in so I’m constantly analyzing others to see what might make my judo a little smoother.

  • @raphaelgracia551

    Christian's kumi kata is not as good as Peter's. He releases one hand too often and the can't attack properly. My teacher gets pissed off when she sees me do that :)
