Owning a gun is a constitutional right, not a privilege, you can’t deny someone the right to a gun when they haven’t committed crime, much less convicted of one. That’s the very definition of a minority report situation.
They threw up some Minecraft character and called him dangerous man 2.0 without telling us what it is that makes him dangerous. They literally just made up the third category and said, trust us, he’s dangerous, he hasn’t committed any crimes, but he’s dangerous. And y’all wonder why we’re against red flag laws.
This failed solution is not about background checks. All those checks that she claims this system will have are all agencies that are already obligated to submit records to the FBI Database. Whether these government agencies actually do it is not our problem. You don’t get to make it harder for us to exercise our Constitutional rights because these government agencies can’t do their job.
What this system is about is making buying a gun as expensive, time-consuming, confusing, and as difficult as possible. Not to mention to create a de facto gun registry.
I just want to point out that we’ve been dancing this issue for long enough, the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting, it’s about protecting the people’s ability to fight off a tyrannical government foreign or domestic.
They don’t like to say this because well no one wants to believe that they’ll have to fight a government much less their own government. Yes, it’s a scary thought but you need only look at what’s going on in Hong Kong and Venezuela to see that it is very much possible.
The only thing governments respect and fear is an armed civilian population. It is a deterrent against the tyrannical aspirations of any government, yes even our own. We should be embracing this not vilifying it or sugar-coating it. We’re the only population of people that has this power. Stop trying to give it away.
Not to mention, the vast majority of people selling guns at guns shows are dealers.
With over 65% of gun deaths being suicides, America does not have a gun crisis. Gun violence isn’t even the top 10 leading causes of death in America. More people die from the Flu than they do from gun violence. So, if America has a crisis, it’s the Flu, not my Sig Sauer P320.

The whole point of this scheme is to make buying a gun so hard you won’t want to do it. Do know how incredibly messed up it is to make exercising a constitutional right so much of burden that you won’t want to exercise it.
This is insane. Imagine having to go through a 3-week process before you can exercise your 1st Amendment rights. People would lose their minds.
Not to mention they’re literally telling us this system would deny people the right to own a gun who don’t have a criminal record. This is mind-boggling.
At this point, people are realizing universal background checks are useless and is nothing more than Trojan horse to create a national gun registry. The Depart of Justice literally said you can’t enforce a universal background check with a national gun registry.
Now they’re pivoting to a new scheme that uses the inherent weakness of a universal background check to push something even more sinister, GUN Licensing.
I tell you over and over and over, there is no such thing a reasonable gun law. Universal background checks were supposed to be reasonable and now they’re saying it’s not good enough and now want gun licensing and they haven’t gotten the universal background checks yet.
The solution will always be more restrictions so there is no compromising only giving and giving while they take and take and ask you to give some more.

I bought two guns in the last two weeks. The first background check took 7 days and the second took 10. If that's equal to 108 seconds then my girlfriend will be thrilled to hear this.
One of my coworkers asked the girl in charge of ordering for a roll of ceramic wool insulation. She asked him what is the with that he needed. He said 36 inches. She looked at him and asked if was from a guy's point of view or a woman's. Now this happened during a shift meeting. All he could do was just put his head down.

As a disabled vet that's actually had to go see a psychiatrist just to get clearance for a surgery to implant a spinal cord stimulator to treat severe chronic pain from nerve damage I can personally attest to how screwed up ppl in the mental health system really are. The Dr overheard me speaking to another vet about hunting. That alone led her to deny my clearance & she requested that I needed "extensive counseling" before I could be cleared. Mind you this is all happening as the nation is going nuts over the "opiod epidemic" & instead of cracking down on illegal drugs & pill mills they're going after all highly trained & legitimate pain specialists & their patients so my meds had already been forcefully reduced by govt actions. Took several months to get my intake appt for counseling & once there I spoke indepth with a different psychiatrist, for ~ twice as long, & she ended up apologizing to me for the actions of her colleague then told me I should file a complaint with out pt advocate as well as the hospital director & she would be filing 1 as well. Ended up delaying my surgery by almost 1 full yr anyway. Before anyone says anything, no I've never told any VA worker I own weapons. Like I said, the witch overheard me talking to another vet in an odd shaped waiting area. Just hoping the stimulator helps enough with my pain so I can stop taking my pain meds & go get my LTC. Been taking it for over 20yrs & never felt anything even resembling a high but from what I've been told by 2 different instructors the state won't let me get my license.

Exactly and the most hilarious part about gun license states is it can take months to obtain a gun for law abiding citizens, yet a criminal can buy a gun off the streets in five to fifteen minutes in some area's. Also like Colion said the NCIC database is not compiled from one agency (FBI), it's compiled from literally thousands or even tens of thousands of local, state and federal agencies!

@@lucaschan9079 that question is invalid. most the military wouldnt follow suit when and if it came down to it. most military members understand the difference between a lawfull and unlawful order and when in the military youre taught to disobey unlawful orders. plus many of us, such as myself, are prior military so anything the military has there is always someone who can operate said piece of machinery. that is the standard response to keeping certain types of guns is "can you shoot down a fighter jet" or "will it stop a tank". the answer is no it wont stop a tank but id rather bring a rock to a gun fight than bring a feather.
I love how the solution to an outdated background check system and lazy government workers isn’t to improve the system and implement better checks within it, but rather to make an entirely new system that’s harder to use and takes longer to perform its duties...

Mine did too. They said that wasn't uncommon for a Saturday when more working class people such as myself do most of our gun buying. They used the time to show me the specifics about how to clean the gun properly. Good folks.

In Uruguay we have:
- Universal background checks
- Universal Psych exam
- Universal Medical exam
- Needing to go through a gun course and a test with the (equivalent to) SWAT
- Proof that you make enough money to support yourself and dependants and job antiquity of at least 12 months making said amount (subjective). This proof needs to come from social security which we re all obligated to be enrolled to and all of our paychecks to go through it by law.
- We need to provide proof of residency
- We need to provide fingerprings
- The balistics of the gun are registered (extractor and pin markins, etc)
Everything needs to be re done every a maximum of 5 years or when you buy a new gun
YOU CANNOT CARRY YOUR FIREARM OUTSIDE YOUR PROPERTY unless you:
- Do private security of valuable goods (like armored trucks of money)
- Are police and in uniform
- Are military in uniform and on duty
- Are a Judge or prosecutor
- have a credible and recent threat on you or a loved one (like a mafia boss putting a hit on you or ar ex who tried something before and is on the loose)
And then you need to carry it opened always.
Even if you go through all of it, you're capped at .45 caliber.
No military style rifles
No semi automatic rifles of any sort (even if non military)
No Auto EVER
No hollow point
We are capped at 3 firearms
Guess what? US murder rate is 5.0/100k uruguay's is 8.2/100k
there are around 500k registered firearms at an average of 1 per person. Out of 3.4 citizens. Around 700k illegal weapons, not acquired legally (stolen from police, military, or through smuggling)
So, not only there's a lot of murder, but they have more guns that the police, military and legal gun owners combined

Let me preface this by saying I have been convicted multiple times, in 4 different states and commonwealths, in the United States. I was prohibited from owning a firearm for 10 long years, and many of these things happened AFTER having an gun seized by the police that I bought on the street illegally as a minor because I thought I needed it for the life I was choosing.
Fast forward to now, I am a responsible, LEGAL gun owner that was once one of those criminals that they speak of, who likely would be denied in places like Massachusetts for their “license”.
What I find extremely ironic is that when liberals talk about the criminal justice system, they say that we don’t help convicted persons rebuild their life, even though they are reformed, and they say that our system is broken. THEN, in the same breath, they constantly beat in people heads that there are “violent people and criminals” trying to buy guns. What happened to they are reformed and served their sentence?

I am now over 3.5 months past the time when the state was required to make a decision on my firearm's license and haven't heard back, nor has anyone returned my request for calls or for a formal hearing with the director of state police. I’ve been at a gun show, and seen several vendors do a background check on the spot. They physically called a federal office and confirmed that the person they were checking had no major criminal record before they made any sort of deal. Longest one I saw took nearly 30 minutes. I listened in on every second.

That argument for people who "could be dangerous" is ridiculous, every person on this planet has a breaking point and could become violent, but I guess disarming everyone is their goal.
True, but a violent offender or someone with mental illness, especially mental illnesses that cause a person to be violent, is more likely to use a gun to hurt or kill someone than someone just having a bad day.
Now is the time we need to fight this administration in government.
