As a disabled vet that's actually had to go see a psychiatrist just to get clearance for a surgery to implant a spinal cord stimulator to treat severe chronic pain from nerve damage I can personally attest to how screwed up ppl in the mental health system really are. The Dr overheard me speaking to another vet about hunting. That alone led her to deny my clearance & she requested that I needed "extensive counseling" before I could be cleared. Mind you this is all happening as the nation is going nuts over the "opiod epidemic" & instead of cracking down on illegal drugs & pill mills they're going after all highly trained & legitimate pain specialists & their patients so my meds had already been forcefully reduced by govt actions. Took several months to get my intake appt for counseling & once there I spoke indepth with a different psychiatrist, for ~ twice as long, & she ended up apologizing to me for the actions of her colleague then told me I should file a complaint with out pt advocate as well as the hospital director & she would be filing 1 as well. Ended up delaying my surgery by almost 1 full yr anyway. Before anyone says anything, no I've never told any VA worker I own weapons. Like I said, the witch overheard me talking to another vet in an odd shaped waiting area. Just hoping the stimulator helps enough with my pain so I can stop taking my pain meds & go get my LTC. Been taking it for over 20yrs & never felt anything even resembling a high but from what I've been told by 2 different instructors the state won't let me get my license.

Mattew Payne two things wrong with your words. 1: speech has killed people due to gross negligence. Think about that girl that talked her boy friend into killing himself. There’s also the cases where people yelled fire or bomb which led to people being trampled to death. What about cults using speech to convince their congregation to kill themselves? Free speech has led to death in many different fashions. We shouldn’t take away the right to free speech because some people suck. 2: it doesn’t matter. The reason the founders gave us rights is so that the government couldn’t interfere with those actions. It doesn’t matter if fire arms lead to death, as long as it’s a right, it can’t be infringed. It doesn’t matter if it’s speech or the right to own guns. It’s a right. You shouldn’t be so complicit in the government infringing our rights. If you want gun control, call for a new amendment or a constitutional convention to change the constitution. Don’t make the words meaningless, otherwise the government has supreme power, which no one wants.

That argument for people who "could be dangerous" is ridiculous, every person on this planet has a breaking point and could become violent, but I guess disarming everyone is their goal.
True, but a violent offender or someone with mental illness, especially mental illnesses that cause a person to be violent, is more likely to use a gun to hurt or kill someone than someone just having a bad day.

No polling is going to ask EVERYONE in the country, that's ridiculous. However their polling is supposed to encompass a wide variety of people and backgrounds in an attempt to make up for the inability to poll the whole country. But when they make statements like that it's obvious they just mean group of people that were polled that are representative of the country. Now if they did a bad job in their polling and only choose to poll people with specific opinions them they would receive scrutiny from the community and likely wouldn't be doing any other pollings after being exposed. And then any responsible news sites would pull down any content relating to that information or risk themselves from also being scrutinized and lose subscriptions and money.

You are entering the Tyranny Zone.” Seriously, there are many nations on this planet where the people are subjects to the whims of government. Those people are properly called “subjects” not “citizens.” If an elected official, or worse, a faceless bureaucrat, decrees something, the subjects have no choice but to accede to authority whether it is “this is your doctor,” or “get in the cattle car to the work camp.” Look at the history of this nation. In 1776 the soldiers of the King of England tried to seize the lawfully owned firearms of the British subjects at Lexington and Concord, MA. The colonial militia refused to surrender their arms, and shot and killed the regular Red-Coat soldiers of the Crown. They kept on shooting them and killing them for five long years until the King’s armies surrendered. After the failure of the Articles of Confederation to create a workable Federal government of the States, the special Convention drafted the Constitution. But many of the States were afraid that the recently ousted King might just be replaced by a new tyrant in Washington, D.C. and they refused to ratify the Constitution until basic Civil Rights were enumerated as protected from Federal usurpation in the Bill of Rights, also known as the first Ten Amendments to the Constitution. If YOU want to strip the Citizens of the United States of those Rights, you must either amend the Constitution, according to the steps laid out in that document, or you must overthrow the United States government as it was founded. The current legislative activities in the State of Virginia to ban the ownership of firearms by Citizens are un-Constitutional, and 95 of the hundred counties in the state have declared themselves to be “Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties” and Sheriffs and law enforcement officers that have sworn an oath to “defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign or domestic” are refusing to enforce the new laws. Governor Northam is threatening to send the “National Guard” to enforce the new laws and seize the weapons that have been outlawed. Do you see any historical parallels here? Fifty years ago I had similar views as yours about private ownership of firearms. As I learned more about the real world, and bottomless well of depravity that is human nature, I came to understand the motivations of the Founders in drafting Article II of the Bill of Rights. Yes, the technology has changed, the Brown Bess musket, a weapon of war, has been replaced by the modern sporting rifle, but human nature has not changed, and never will. The only time that the “lion lays down with the lamb” is when the lion has already eaten the ewe and the ram, and is just waiting for dinner to settle so that he can have dessert. I also took that Oath, and it has no expiration date. I will fight the enemies of the Constitution, here with informed opinion, at the ballot box with the franchise, and, at last resort, on my home soil. Finally, “don’t be ignorant, governments kill unruly subjects WAY more often than law abiding Citizens commit murder.” You may vote yourself into Socialism, but you will have to SHOOT your way out of it.
*I thought we enjoyed the presumption of innocence until the proof of guilt. If I'm not innocent until proven guilty, then why is the punishment coming before the crime?*
Criminals would never be so immoral as to violate the law that says that they can't own guns . . . like the current law . . . Wait a tick--it is already a felony for someone who was previously convicted to own a gun, but the Bureau of Prison Statistics shows that 77% of gun crime is committed by people who can't legally own guns.
@@UA-camforcedmetochangemyname That was Beto's line as well. . . . we should trust that people who were planning mass shootings (like the Aurora shooter) will peacefully comply when the government sends them a polite letter asking for them to turn in their unloaded guns and their ammo at the local police station--that's the same letter the Aurora shooter was sent, but he didn't give his gun to the government.
When you make a right so difficult and expensive to exersise that only a small percentage of people are able to afford it, it is no longer a right. It is a privilege.
Legally speaking there is no such thing as a universal right. All rights are afforded to us and public responsibility is implied. Hence the infamous can't yell fire in a crowded theater and you can't just shoot people you don't like. @@xavierquentinchad5880 I respect your genuine good intention to disallow ownership of a gun to someone who is likely to misuse it. What is required to address the problem involves much more than good intentions. Laws exist to remove guns and disallow a person who has broken those laws. Those laws don't get enforced, for many reasons. What if we enforce existing laws, and get rid of unenforceable laws? What a concept! What if we do that before we venture further down the road of pre-crime persecution of people for what they might do? What if we remove from society people who are incapable of being responsible for themselves, like those with a history of violent mental illness, who refuse to take their medication? In Uruguay we have:
- Universal background checks
- Universal Psych exam
- Universal Medical exam
- Needing to go through a gun course and a test with the (equivalent to) SWAT
- Proof that you make enough money to support yourself and dependants and job antiquity of at least 12 months making said amount (subjective). This proof needs to come from social security which we re all obligated to be enrolled to and all of our paychecks to go through it by law.
- We need to provide proof of residency
- We need to provide fingerprings
- The balistics of the gun are registered (extractor and pin markins, etc)
Everything needs to be re done every a maximum of 5 years or when you buy a new gun
YOU CANNOT CARRY YOUR FIREARM OUTSIDE YOUR PROPERTY unless you:
- Do private security of valuable goods (like armored trucks of money)
- Are police and in uniform
- Are military in uniform and on duty
- Are a Judge or prosecutor
- have a credible and recent threat on you or a loved one (like a mafia boss putting a hit on you or ar ex who tried something before and is on the loose)
And then you need to carry it opened always.
Even if you go through all of it, you're capped at .45 caliber.
No military style rifles
No semi automatic rifles of any sort (even if non military)
No Auto EVER
No hollow point

Guess what? US murder rate is 5.0/100k uruguay's is 8.2/100k
there are around 500k registered firearms at an average of 1 per person. Out of 3.4 citizens. Around 700k illegal weapons, not acquired legally (stolen from police, military, or through smuggling)

Wow this is actually a really good way of putting it. Deadass.
Public speaking never killed a child due to grouse negligence.

I love when they say things like "All Americans". There are over 350 million people in the US. And I don't remember answering the question.

They only poll the people in their SMALL circle. Where I live everyone has a gun, and we don't take classes or buy a license to carry guns. Open carry or concealed, it's your choice, and more importantly, it's your RIGHT.
Yeah, that is a bit of a stretch for them speaking for us when they never earned our trust and respect.

Most people are not armed with firearms. Those that are kill a lot of people, they are slowly reducing in number as is the overflow of automatic weapons from the Cold War proxy wars that flooded the country, adding to those the Apartheid government inserted. As the number of guns reduces so do the killings. People killed in crimes of poverty, escalate when all the poor have in the way of dignity are their 'guns', and trust me it is not the rich being shot.
The prevalence of firearms in the USA provides the absurd degree in which 'Officer Safety' exculpates LEO's from accountability in excessive force shootings. In my military training and operational service there had to be clear presentation and intent to fire a weapon in order to employ deadly force. Also your ridiculous stand your ground and castle domain laws make shooting someone relatively unproblematic, in some states you would serve more time if you hit your opponent with a stick and they survived. If there is crime in your neighborhood, sort it out, speak to the authorities as a community, speak to the gangsters as well. Often in an oppressed society it is the best that become criminals, they are reclaimable. That is patronizing I know, nevertheless true.
saun lee coetzee the problem is that the “authorities” may or may not have an incentive to help the community or its people. You are assuming that those in power always have the best interests of their people at heart and will act accordingly and not based on whatever ideology they may hold. A free citizen should not have to justify or advocate for their rights from the state. I’m not talking about perks or privileges that others provide, I’m talking about the freedom of speech the right to challenge authority if their “solutions” punish more good than bad and the right to defend yourself from others attempting to strip you of your rights whether it be a criminal or a tyrannical government. Negotiating with people that want nothing else but to keep taking means they will continue to take until your either dead or submissive. Which is why the 2nd amendment exists. Why should I need a “license” to exercise a fundamental Constitutional right?
Sea Shrimp the fact is, I DO have the right to keep and bear arms as a law abiding citizen of the United States. If you want to deprive me of that right, then I suggest you draft and pass through both houses of Congress, and obtain ratification in 38 States, for the 28th Amendment to the Constitution which states: “Article II of the Bill of Rights is hearby abrogated in its entirety, and only agents of the United States government may possess or use firearms.” Restricting firearms to the national police forces worked out very well in Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union, Mao’s People’s Republic of China, Pol Pot’s Cambodia, and Chavez’s Venezuela. At least it worked out very well for Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and Hugo Chavez. The average subject of the dictatorial realms, not so much. 100 million dis-armed persons were shot, gassed, starved or worked to death in gulags. The Chicom’s currently have about 1,000,000 Uigurs in “re-education work camps” in western China, trying to beat the Islam out of them. Since you are espousing views opposed to the United States Constitution, I assume you are a Progressive and are NOT a fan of the current occupant of the Oval Office. Cue the Rod Serling voice-over, “Consider, if you will, a nation where only Donald J. Trump and his minions possess, and carry “weapons of war.

That’s the part they don’t speak on
Ya whoops..
Fun fact: I didn’t know that. That’s actually quite ironic.
If you accidentally shoot a child or leave your gun accessible to another person, you should in theory have that right revoked seeing as you violated the public's trust by showing grouse incompetence. The afforded right comes with the responsibility that your going to not be a detriment to the public good.
*cough cough* Massachusetts *cough cough*
I know its not always appropriate, but this cannot wait any longer and I fear for the safety of an innocent mexican who believed in the constitution and exercised their rights, the police violated civil rights to put an innocent man in jail. I kindly urge you to at least view the article and feel free to share. I do not expect donations. I just want you to take a look at the important article that no one is talking about. Everyone talks about the young kid named Kyle in Kenosha but what about the many, many stories of innocent people like this man in Texas?

Unfortunately we haveno rights in this country. Because they can be striped away without warning or cause. And as george carlin said "a right isn't a right if someone can take it away"
Instead of criticizing you should PROPOSE SOLUTIONS. But of course all you pro-gun retards NEVER propose ANYTHING to prevent mass killings from happening. You NEVER propose ANYTHING. Saying that licensing is "horrible" and that "waiting 6 weeks to get a gun is not normal" shows just how selfish you are.
All I can say is NOPE!
