    The Minivan represents too many enthusiasts the end of the line. The useful vehicle for parents, families, and road trips is also associated with the end of owning your favorite sports car, project car, or your place in the car community. It is of course a little bit overdramatic but at the end of the day it has some truth to it. This 1995 Honda Odyssey was bought for $1300 bucks thanks to a lucky coin toss between the previous owner and the buyer. Since it was purchased the owner truly tried to make it his own. This Honda Odyssey has a homemade paint job with a beautiful pearl added, a set of BC racing coil overs, some cosmetic upgrades, and wheels and tires bring it all together. So at the end of the day is it true you can modify anything as long as you have the patience and passion? Let's go for a drive and find out! New uploads every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday!

    I think that crossovers and suvs have replaced minivans as the “uncool end” to a car guys journey. Minivans now are almost cool (If you get the right one) just like wagons have become cool.

    • @hotpinkfryingpan7615
      @hotpinkfryingpan7615 4 роки тому +115

      this. I hate crossovers because they've replaced a lot of cars that we enthusiasts loved, while minivans were at least their own separate entity. There was no Odyssey before this one, but there was an eclipse, a lancer, a mustang, etc.

      Jake Boyden a lot of people with crossovers really should get a minivan but they don’t so they can pretend like they are still cool. The denial makes them way more uncool than a minivan used to be, especially since they are less practical, and now that there’s something to compare it to I respect minivans and their owners for their honesty.

    My only time driving a minivan was after a party. I don’t drink but my friend did so after he drove about a mile I made him switch with me and I drove home. It was an early 2000’s Odyssey that for some reason drove pretty nice, I don’t remember much about the driving experience but it surprised me. What also surprised me was when he told me later that he stole the car from his mom.

    Shiiiit, mini Van's are awesome! We love them here in Japan. The Alphard, Veilfires, and Elgrands get so much love here. The car community is so diverse here outside the typical fan boy favorites. It's awesome to see so many people with so many different styles. Its important that you mentioned the whole "giving up the sports car and starting a family" thing, because I think that's a bit part of it. The "uncool" follows whatever is the poster child for giving up on being interesting (or in the case of nowadays, not caring at all to begin with). For the longest time, that mantle was taken up by the van and in some instances the SUV, but now I think that's been taken by the crossover. Its more about whatever demographic adopts them I think rather than the type of car itself.

    The first car I had unlimited access to as a High School student was a 2000 Mazda MPV. Hands down best first minivan ever. It's small for a Minivan, but the space inside is infinitely useable. I had a sunroof so I was ballin 24/7. It had an extremely tight turning radius so it was the easiest car to parallel park, especially considering the rear window *was* the back of the car, so the dimensions were extremely easy to learn as a driver.

    Wagons all the way, I see your point, I appreciate it but I cant bring myself to like them. Specially when you have things as cool as the Subaru Exiga, Audi and BMW performance (S line and the 335i) in Wagon and many others still around. Although as far as I know you guys dont get them in the States.

    I have a 2012 Toyota Sienna family Van. I actually like it! The steering is light, it’s modern, and the interior is like a living room. It’s fun rolling around with all of your friends in one car. Sound system is nice as well. And the fun part is that it’s actually fast. I mean for a 4000+lbs car it pulls hard, especially when you put it in sport mode. Gapped a stock BMW e46 m3 till he reached the top of 2nd.

      Minivans are the last utility vehicles that don't try to be anything else. A minivan knows its not considered cool so there's never tacky cheap gimmicks. It's reliable, comfortable, spacious, and thats it. That simplicity of it is something lost in modern car design.

    Dude sooo awesome to see you review a van, So many people have such a negative perception of vans, one positive of this is it's kind of cool because when you do see really nice one it stands out that much more but really they can be great! I always really liked the look of the 2nd gen odyssey modified but 3rd gens really caught my attention too, and is now my favorite. You should really check out a 3rd gen I sat in 2nd and it felt like a van but 3rd gen feels almost like you're sitting in in accord but slightly higher up, I ended up test driving my buddys 3rd gen and now own a 2005 Odyssey It also drives similar turn accord obviously there's a little more weight to it but I doesn't feel super sloshy like a suburban more like a sedan with some extra weight. Also really enjoy some of the newer siennas.
    Shoutout to @Valkulture, @Bisomoto, @Jserieshonda for really showing people what vans can be about, they all inspired me big time to get a van and to mod mine, only done a few small thing so far but have plans for more!

    My dogs have a 2007 Odyssey, they let my drive it. Honestly the best vehicle I have ever had. I'm over the moon there are so many upgrades that I can do. Turbo and manual trans are a must. Upgrade the suspension keeping it stock height or a little higher. Milwaukee streets are a bit rough. I'm looking forward to my good old grocery getter to be my next, three large dogs to the park, camping and lets not forget track day vehicle.

So many mixed emotions when people see it. LOL, I'm kind of a Van lover though. My pride and joy is my 74 Ford Econoline E300. It's getting a 2000 Explorer 5.0L swap at the moment. Sorry, but I'm a car guy and I had TWO of these, both fully optioned EX models and I LOVED them! Roomy, comfortable, smooth, quiet, great visibility, good handling, (for a minivan), room for 6 and their luggage, great stereo, good AC and very economical. So comfortable. Not a fast vehicle, these are not red light racers but you get up to speed very quickly and they want to cruise at 80 mph all day long. Perfect outdoor activity vehicle as you can flip the rear seat down, take the middle seats out and haul just about anything and everything you need for outdoor fun. A perfect long distance traveling vehicle, perfect for bombing down the highway, gobbling miles up by the thousands, literally invisible to the HP ( who's pulling over a minivan when that red Mustang just flew by on the fast lane?) I put 260k miles on my first one before an idiot friend totaled it - got a 6 grand payout from my insurance and promptly bought another one that I put 380k on before it laid down on the side of the road and died. Broke my heart. Love these vehicles (they're quite rare now) and I always thought they would be a great sleeper tuner car. I stress again that you are INVISIBLE in these cars - no one gives a shit or notices you - just a bland minivan going by. If I could find another mint, low mileage one I would buy it in a heartbeat and lovingly preserve it as a low key travel/weekend car. The key is to buy the early models before 1997 as they were built in Japan and had a noticeable better build quality and solidity. Glad to see my first gen Odyssey get a little love!

    • @malasoat1
      @malasoat1 4 роки тому +2

      I love minivans compared to SUVs or crossovers. The average minivan is often more practical than the average 3 row suv or crossover due to equal or better cabin and cargo capacity. I hate how everyone buys SUVs/crossovers and the never take it off road and justify it by saying they need the cargo space as if hatchbacks and wagons don't provide the same amount. I get it if you need something with awd or live in an area where you need a few more inches of ground clearance, but the average mom/mall crawler does not need an SUV/crossover

    Just ordered a front lip and may repaint it. It’s a great van. Averaging 20 in the city and 28 hwy. Parts are getting hard to find. Would love to swap in a j series but don’t want to lose A/c. Maybe if I can save a good amount of money I can make it happen.
