I'm now officially licensed and about to start on a med/surg/tele unit :-) I'm taking my ACLS certification course (first time) in a few days and I'm returning to your videos to refresh myself-thank you again!! You rock!!

+mohamed amer Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a kind comment. Best wishes in your studies!
Highly Appreciated Madam .your easiest lectures played great rule in understanding of my project ECG signal processing .Respect and Best Wishes From Pakistan .
Great job. Just a tip.
Most ECG strips show a black line or a black arrow after every 15 squares. So if you watch that out from first black line to the 3rd black line is 30 squares (15+15) you can count R waves between those without having to actually cou t the squares.
Thank you .. This is the easiest way I have ever seen 👍
+Tomy Alshahrani So glad I could make it easier for you to understand, Tomy! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment :)

I have a question, so for start counting the little boxes , do we have to start with the first P waves that appears?
+Carolina Palacios Yes, you want to start counting where the first p-wave appears and then onward in order to count the heart rate.
+RegisteredNurseRN thank u so much , I really appreciate all your videos I have learned very well
Carolina Palacios You're very welcome :) Thanks for your kind words and for watching my videos. Glad I could help you learn!

I don't usually comment on UA-cam videos but I've tired SO MANY ways to learn this but nothing has ever worked for me until I watched this !!
Very awesome! Thank you for leaving a comment. I feel special that you took the time to leave me one :) Thank you for it! Glad I could help you understand counting the heart rate.
Hi! Can this method be applied if I get ECG measured only during 5 second, speed 50 mm/min? Shall I multiply number of the beats with 12 then?
if there is not a P wave present, are you able to count the atrial rate?
If there is not a p-wave, you can't count the atrial rate...for example, this happens when the patient is in atrial fibrillation due to the atriums quivering which causes you not to see a p-wave.
As is true for SVT, PEA, V-fib etc, correct? Do you have a video for measuring the QT interval?
Your videos have been extremely helpful! Thank you!
I listen to a lot of nursing school was in EMT school trying to fish what I had Started in my lone thank you and God Bless you . they might send me back to EMT school . I am doing it all by myself.
Thanks, you're the best tutor

Thank you so much for watching the videos. I've put them in a playlist in the order you can watch them, which may make learning easier. Here is the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLQrdx7rRsKfU-A9UTclI0tOYrNJ1N5SNt.html
Thank you for your help 🙏🏽
in between 30 of the large squares or 30 of the small squares??
Hello Matthew :) It is 30 of the large squares. Here is an article that goes along with the video that explains it further: www.registerednursern.com/how-to-calculate-the-heart-rate-on-an-ekg-strip-with-the-six-second-rule/
Thanks for watching the video!
Short simple and precise
Thank you your videos are amazing
Thank you so much ❤
Very good lesson
why do u multiply by 10?
Great question! You multiply by 10 because there are a span of 10 boxes with 1 second on the EKG paper. Therefore, when you count the number of r-waves within 6 seconds and multiply by 10 you get the heart rate.
Thank you
what an awesome video. thanks a lot for upload
