Hey MaCenna, I use to work in a floral department- don't crush your stems!! To have your flowers last longer you need a fresh cut, and it is reccomended that you recut your stems every 2-3 days. By cutting the stems of your flowers, you are cutting it off from its orginal food soruce (the roots). By having a clean cut and placing the flowers in fresh, clean water mixed with floral food you are able to have flowers that will last you multible days. Over time, the cut on the stem will scab over and when this happens the flower is no longer able to get food it needs to survive. Recutting helps open the stem back up so it can continue to get food and last longer. Hope this helps your flowers last longer!
Do crush woody stems, though. Like from spring shrubs, or small branches from your lime trees.
You can use some outdoor rugs, I am a florist, it’s better to slide the knife at an angle on the stem then it is to squeeze cute with scissors ✂️, the stems have like straw like drinking tubes, so if you cute with scissors it squishes the tubes together, then to slide cute at an angle so the tubes stay completely open. Also better to cut stems long and every day trim bottoms 1/2 inch shorter so they have a fresh severed drinking opening, as long as it’s not to close and above any knots on the stems. As a florist, that’s the best info I can give you. 🌷🪻🌸 your hair would look pretty in a French braid under or over.

I know it doesn't matter anymore because the party has happened, but for future reference: you setup the chess board sideways 😋 - white square should always be on the bottom right when you're facing it and that's how you tell which way it goes. That way queens can go on their color (they face each other). What a gorgeous set!!
I've lived at my home with a pool for over 10 years and my number one rule is never any glass around my pool, trust me I learned the hard way.
I was going to say the same thing. We NEVER allow glass near the pool area. One dropped glass and the entire pool must be drained,
@@tammyphillips5058I’m so glad I read this. We have a pool for the first time and I never thought about what might happen with glass. I’m going to get a nice set of plastic (reusable of course) dishes and glasses for when our daughter and her friends come to visit us in 2 weeks.
Same! I winced... Thankfully, they make beautiful acrylic drinkware that looks so much like glass it fold you until you give it the "fingernail drum test"! 😂 And really pretty melamine dishes. All safe. BONUS: Even safe for small kids!
The little white daisy flowers are called Monte Casino. It's a beautiful accent flower us floral designers use sometimes in place of babies breath. ☺️ Also comes in purple & pink.
Love how your party turned up, happy birthday 🎉 but you are right, hosting is hard. I usually have lists about lists and on occasions spreadsheet so i check when task or item on the menu is done. Planning is a key. The 7 Ps principle: proper planning and preparation prevents piss poor performance 😂 The best part is when all your guests have grand time and everything looks efortless and relaxed.
If you haven't already, i highly recommend getting a grill cover for your grill. Our grill is 5 years old and still looks new and works great. And i account it to the cover 👍 happy birthday!

When it comes to chess, just remember it this way; queen ( the one with a crown but no cross) goes on her color, then king next to her, then the bishop (pope/advisor, pointy head piece with slit), then the knight (horse/fighter for the kingdom), then castle (kingdom tower) at the end/corner. Lastly all the pawns ( soldiers) go in the second row as if protecting the king and kingdom.

Great housewarming. Those yellow floaters look like lemon lifesavers. The floral table cloth is so pretty
MaCenna, next time you host an outdoor party & want to set your tables the night before just cover it all up with a twin fitted or flat sheet, assuming it’s not going to rain of course. Both can be found at yard sales very inexpensively. It works great. I’ve even set my dining room table inside several days in advance of a big family holiday meal & then just covered it all up with a twin flat sheet to keep the dust off. A few minutes before family was due to arrive it was so nice to pull off the sheet, light the candles, & the table was ready. I enjoyed the process of setting a really pretty table & hosting so much more that year.
Watching this made me so happy for the life that you and Romeo are building together.

Regarding pool towels, I think you’re going to find having an assortment of towel colors and looks will ultimately be the best for you to have for the pool. Why? Because that way people can identify which towel is theirs. Trust me, that fighting over a towel is a possibility down the road, especially once you have kids. Trust me on the kids part of that, lol, 😉
SAIE is my whole world! I loooove their dew blushes, slip tint, and sun melt bronzer! Warning, the dew blush in poppy is VERY bright almost hot pink instead of a coral like I thought it would be.

I loved your yellow and white! In my first house, our pool was that pretty pool blue, too, and I did the same - yellow and white striped towels, yellow and white striped umbrellas on the tables, and some red mixed in as accents in the flowers (geraniums, etc) planted around the pool. So cheery and plays so nicely off that special blue. Glad you had a 😮😢wonderful birthday and a successful party! Next time will feel like a piece of cake! ❤

you can fix that chess piece by making a mold of the one that isnt broken and putting some plaster or cement in it then glue it to the top of the broken piece and painting it :)

Just a word of caution. Most all of my friends here in Florida never use glass around their pool. Plastic and paper are chosen for safety sake. Your home is beautiful. Belated happy birthday!!
Drink dispensers are gorgeous but glass is not the best for poolside. Never.

Gosh Mckenna if you ever feel you've done all you want to achieve with renovating your houses, I could seriously see you creating small resort- style air bnbs.
