  • Here's my two cents on how Shadow of the Erdtree changed Mohg's lore so much more than just 'him beating the alligation'.
    The DLC almost had me pull out my sociology degree to do some proper analysis but I had too many thoughts that I just needed to get out somewhere so here it is.
    The clips were all screenrecorded from my PS5 thus the quality

    A couple extra points I want to make:
    Morgott obviously was aware of Mohg, considering they were brothers that grew up in the same sewer, but he famously *doesn't* declare Mohg a "willful traitor" when you fight him. And the choice of words means he could feel that Mohg couldn't be a "traitor" because he never was in a position to swear loyalty to the Golden Order in the first place... or it could be because Mohg's actions are not WILLFUL in the first place.
    There's also the popular theory that Mohg and Morgott set aside their differences to set up a layered defense against anyone reaching the Three Fingers, since Morgott's life force preserves a barrier and Mohg has an illusion of himself there if anyone gets past it. Considering Morgott's unflinching loyalty to the Golden Order, it really says something if the two did find common ground and act for the collective wellbeing of everyone in the Lands Between.
    Lastly, it's very damning that Miquella's plan explicitly *required* that Mohg die to serve as a vessel for Radahn's soul. And I'm personally of the belief that, due to that need, Miquella intentionally had Mohg be as horrible and monstrous as possible to make him as many enemies in the Lands Between as possible in the hopes that someone would eventually kill him.

    • @Paspaya
      @Paspaya  Місяць тому +34

      ohhh that's a good point, Miquella laying out bait to make sure people would come for Mohg is really interesting. The formless Mother definitely had some part to play but the whole drenching Miquellas cocoon in blood thing probably wasn't just random either.
      As for the illusion I find both interpretations come with interesting implications, either Mohg and Morgott worked together which I would love to see because as you said it would diviate from Morgotts main 'thing' of being extremely loyal to the golden order. Or Morgott created the Illusion of Mohg, which is why it's called Mohg the Omen and not Lord of Blood, but that would Imply that Morgott has at least seen Mohg in his full Lord of Blood Attire with spear and everything.
      (I know that it's most likely because it's a reused asset but it's still fun to think about it like this)

    • @FurnaxIkki
      @FurnaxIkki Місяць тому +17

      @@Paspaya The Mohg illusion is probably not Morgott's though, simply because all of Morgott's illusory selves you can fight don't spawn if you skip them and kill his real elf first.

    When mohg and morgott were in sewers i always imagined morgott blame himself and mohg blame the world, morgott wearing his rags like he deserves them, mohg finding trash and making himself a robes, mohg always desired to be noble, then he found formless mother and decidet to "show 'em!" he collected a band of misfits and started roleplaying as lords, nobles and knights in hope that if their crackhead plan succeedes they will have them recognized, but also actually enjoying calling eachother those titles as proof that they went through a lot together as a group, and later a cult. I think he really cared for his nobles and knights, he really wanted to be their lord and a good one, good for a group of bloodthirsty satanists but still. I think Mohg never did nearly as much bad as a lot of the other groups. A lot of his sanguine nobels are omens, judging by the horns sticking out of their robes, so he provided a sanctuary for both the (gen 2) albinaurics and omen, which Miquella failed to. Mohg doesn't brainwash his followers. Mohg doesn't persecute anyone for their species, but their allegiances.

      @@kayhaich I agree with you, but you gotta realize what Mogh was actually trying to do with his moghwyn dynasty. Varré makes it (socially not optimally communicated) clear that the intent is to cut yourself loose from the oppressive golden order by eliminating its agents of oppression. Preventing golden order prospects from becoming lord and empiwering those who are oppressed.
      Mogh kinda leads a gurillia war against the golden order, similar to what rykard does. Just with different goals. Rykard wants to devour everything and does not plan to free anyone from their fates. Meanwhile Mogh tries to empower those who had a similar fate to him and create a nieche for them in the world. A dynasty under a lord who is untouchable.
      The mother of truth protects those who are abused by taking in all their abuse for herself. It craves a wound. Much like jesus who died on the cross to absolve the world of its sins the mother of truth takes in all the abuse of the world to free those who worship her from it.
      Of course the way the he goes about it is wrong but we do not know in how far miquella has manipulated mogh to make himself into a villain, so that people would WANT to kill him - to advance his own goals.
      Might be tha moghs original plan involved way less of the whole murdering innocent people and more of the freeing the surpressed from their shackles.
      Might even be that this is how miquella stole his heart in the first place. By presenting himself as someone who tries to do the same thing make a place for everyone. But with the crucial difference that he doesn't want people to choose that fate for themselves

One thing to note is that Freya, despite finding out the truth thanks to Ansbach's help, *chooses to side with Leda when all the cards are down*. That could mean, that we are really just dealing with an eternally 8 year old with mindcontrol powers, which could explain why his entire plan seems so childish.
    If I just stop everyone from fighting and make them love me, all will be fine!!
    Also, Miquella would not be familiar with anyone ever saying 'no' to him.
    To me it seems like Radahn was the only person who ever did right that. And then he basically fled to the other side of the known world away from Miquella I mean, Calid is as far as one could get from the Haligtree. Miquella has to send out his sick and dying/rotting sister, who is completely devoted to him and most likely also controlled by him, to get him his toy back and doesn't care at all what happens to her after that.
    I think it's quite telling that through the whole story, Radahn doesn't have a voice.
    We never learn his thoughts of or what he said to Miquella.
    And poor Mohg wasn't ever seen as a person at all by him.
    He was just so convenient to use.

    I always believed that Mohg was required due to his Omen nature and his connection to the Crucible which was known for blending all forms of live together - perhaps because of this it is easier for Miquella to insert another mans soul into his corpse
    as for his Morals:
    I think Mohg is just as Grey as all of his family is - not a saint but not a monster either
    there might have been a time were when Mohg was sound of Mind - truly the Luminary with Stength, Vision and Love as Varré calls to him, after all he did manage to gather followers from all over
    When you consider that despite his lineage he was banned to live in a sewer for his nature, there was never anything else for him, he could either trot down the path of self loathing like his brother did or do as he did, embrace his nature, wallow in the filth he was born into and make something of it.
    In a way his goals seem like a more grotesque version of the Age of Compassion with a Dynasty founded on Grandeur, bombastness and Blood, but at the same time inviting in Creatures from all over and bestowing his blessing onto them
    Under a broken Golden Order and the Shaky Guidance of the Two Fingers I imagine Mohg must have seemed like a Charismatic Alternative
    There is an unused voice Line for Mohg were - likely upon his death - he asks: "Miquella, why do you abandon me?" implying as if Miquella invited him to the Haligtree, perhaps offering Collaboration in his enedeavors to act the Part of God for him to Rule as the Lord and Consort, but then cutting all communication, leaving Mohg disparing and possibly turning into the Blood Obsessed Maniac he is today, frantically searching for a way to invoke a response from Miquella
    if this is truly the case, then Miquella not only abandoned the people of Caelid and left them to their fates by sending Malenia there to duke it out with Radahn, but also gave up the Haligtree and all the people he had led and congregated there, alongside the Albinaurics who are now stuck at Ordina or have wandered off to the Moghwyn Dynasty palace

Not only is he a being the Hornsent would revere as holy and he already possesses an army and is willing to recruit from multiple races, he is opposed to the Golden Order and Marika personally. Also, given he is of Marika's bloodline and a master of blood magicz he could possibly activate the Divinity Gate for himself. Who needs the Two Finger's to just give you Divinity when you can just take it for yourself? Just imagine Mohg the liberator and his forces fighting Messmer the Impaler and his armies. That is the story Miquella's desire for a nation of brainwashed love zombies cheated us of.

    Ansbach being such an honorable paragon plus the fact that he was one of Mohg's most trusted and highest ranking subordinates makes me strongly believe that before Miquella enchanted him, Mohg was much more righteous and less corrupted by bloodlust. I imagine he may have been closer in temperament to his brother Morgott.

He maybe was a good gang leader and soul of the company like french king partying in Versailles with his nobles or a Penguin from Batman. But he still probably ate newborns for dinner. There's no proof that Ansbach wasn't a blood drinking satanist under Mohg. I can easily imagine Mohg enjoying company of eloquent freaks who validated with their presence his lordship and helped him cope with his inferiority complex.

Although I have never considered that, he allowed Radahn to carry mohgs treats. I saw it as mohg breaking threw and fighting for control. I find it ironic that Miquella "saw kindness and strength" in Radanh, and sought to use Mohg's body to reincarnate him into an ideal body to represent the oppressed of the Golden Order, but straight up just... Ignored what Mohg already did. It speaks volumes to his biased view of the world.
    Mohg not only made a place where those who were wronged by the Golden Order could live in peace, blessed by a mother who genuinely loved them for their "accursed" nature, but also was seeking for an age where men could live for themselves, and not for any god. Hell, there's a real possibility that he helped Morgott contain the Three Fingers, seeing as there's an illusion of him in the same style of Margit right before the pit leading to the Three Fingers. Mohg really was a kind and strong leader, already filled with the characteristics that Miquella desired for a lord, but part of me just cannot stop wondering if Miquella, ironically enough, only saw the shell of Mohg: a demonic monstrosity of curly horns, sharp teeth, worshipping a blood goddess. On the same vein, he never saw deep within Radanh, because if he did, he would have known that Radanh was ultra loyal to the Golden Order, and would have likely seen Miquella's plan as blasphemous.
    Miquella failed in his age of compassion plan from the start by not understanding anyone deeply other than himself.

    YO hear me out
    What if the satanic bloody vibes were intentional
    Like Miquella needed someone (us) motivated enough to kill Mohg, my pre-dlc routine was Okay I'll kill Radahn because poor fella, Rykars he's a snake fart smella, and Mohg because he's ugh mohglester, the magic milf is alright, the bear witness nah, melania blade of michael is not worth the effort
    What if Mohg said "Yo Varre go find someone who likes killing and who's really GOOD with it and reward them with this medal"
    "Aye why"
    "Idk just for lulz"
    "Lol aight"
    "🔥🔥🔥"
    "🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻"
    What if Varre was part of the plan, he literally gives you the teleport to dlc, and who knows maybe the other white masks were intended to be promoters with the same goal but they did not endure it
    What if the whole Mohg's crew were brainwashed
    And then again, when Varre gives you fingers you don't have to actually kill someone or even use all of them (I have tested, 3 times us enough), Varre is like "Cool you have invaded people, oh you did not kill anybody, that's alright, a voice in my head says you're fine enough" Even after then you don't have to kill anyone, you can use Irina's blood, or Vyke's maiden's blood, or that the nameless maiden at the starting location, still counts "The voice in my head says that if you are that smart you'll find a way to cheese a boss fight with Mohg, whatever that means, lambkin. By the way dont forget that you are maidenless and that im a sassy lil bich hope that wont give you more motivation to kill my goat friend"

    This was a delightful "3am Discord call ramble" to listen to. Playing through Elden Ring a second time gave me a lot more time to think about my tarnished as a character and I really gravitated toward Mohg's dynasty just because of how, for a lack of better words, slipshod it seemed to be? Stuff like how Varré and surgeons like them were abducted and had the accursed blood forced upon them, their whole "recruitment" seeming so convoluted, how they were worshiping the Elden John statues just cause Mohg hijacked those ruins, all of the Albinaurics being there and how Varré's description of Mohg's aspiring dynasty kinda seemed to copy some of Miquella's aspirations with the Haligtree... yeah Shadow of the Erdtree was a wonderfully subversive way to expand upon a lot of those plot beats, and Ansbach was an incredible addition for a game of some already great characters.

    To me miquellla motivation is he's trying to become a philosopher's stone just like Marika. He actions is to mend and refine his state with radah. In dlc Miquellla is getting rid of his impurities and turning himself(from a salt base) into light solid gas state, while making refinement to Radah(strong metal alloy of red purple gold,maybe from a sulfur base) is to be solid to accept him(by use Mogh(arsenic,from a lead). In the end he succeeded. However, the renowned tarnish(from a mercury base or lesser material) beat them. Still the processes is disgusting due to the mature theme of the game. The rubis or philosopher stone wiki kind of help but it a stretch. All sf games are Cryptid and up to debate of key ideas. They are mostly about stagnation and regression.

You kill his rotting sister, and then when you finally think hey i could rescue this guy or they could be a good consort for completing the Elden Ring you find them dead, hand laying tragically out their vessel and some madman and his blood army standing right there--- you were too slow. I tried again and again thinking maybe there is a quest line to progress the story and stop Mohg from getting miquella but there wasn't. Then i started looking at his needles sold in the shops and i was like - woah wtf? This is likely a mistranslation since it's such an unpopular item, this is typical in souls games.

Almost all of the other bloody fingers have them with the exception of the nameless white masks. I think this might mean that Miquella was responsible for turning the pureblood knights into the bloody fingers and making them a group of rampaging murderers. On that note, Eleonora seems to have had a similar idea to Ansbach but sought to best Mogh to reach Miquella hence why she has the crystal tear that counters bloodboon.

    I really love the idea of Miquella trying to appeal to the hornsent by using Mohg’s horned features. Miquella wishes to spread his compassion to everybody, but that brings up the question of “does everyone deserve compassion?”
    Even those who tortured and flayed shamans, those who sealed a nomadic society underground, those who make a man suffer eternal torture on an unjust ruling, or those who hunt a group of people just to wear their skins and proudly display their deceased faces?
    If Miquella is willing to forgive these monstrous acts, then what does that make him? Is that truly an act of kindness, even towards those who have gone through so much suffering at the hands of cruel people?

    Perhaps when The Mother of Truth revealed herself to Mohg, she revealed truths to him, those truths about Marika and the formation of the Golden Order that we learned. He resides in one of the Lands Between's most ancient culture's ruins, and as was pointed out his entire shtick is overtly calling back the cultures Marika banished to the shadow realm. It makes me wonder if Miquella learned of the Realm of Shadows from Mohg, that at one point Miquella and Mohg were allies fighting for the downtrodden (such as the albinaurics who serve them both) before Miquella lost his damn mind. I sense that this might have been during the shattering, where he lost all hope that his Haligtree could offer the salvation he sought for the world, so he hatched a batshit insane plan to marry two of his brothers for the price of one, and all it cost him was his love, doubt, etc.

    This was an excellent video, I enjoyed it very much!
    An additional point to add onto the tragedy of Mogh's fate is to consider what happened to his soul. Mogh's soul no longer exists within his body whatsoever. His soul has been vacated from his body and left behind, completely destitute. Ansbach says as much in his questline. Normally souls remain in their bodies until they are returned to the Erdtree, but because Mogh's soul who vacated from his body and he is an Omen his soul will not return. What happened to Mogh's soul is exactly what happens to the souls of the victims of the Dung Eater. So since soul is unable to remain in his body or return to the Erdtree, Mogh's soul has no anchor and is left to who knows what fate. He would likely be left to become a vengeful spirit like the Wraith Calling Bell implies about those who are cursed. So Miquella charmed Mogh, had him killed, vacated his soul from his body, and put Radahn's soul into it. Meanwhile Mogh's soul is left to wander as a vengeful spirit that will never be able to obtain peace.

Miquella followers maintain their beliefs and thoughts but are willing to form unlikely alliances under the name of Miquella at the same time. Mohg is insane, he worships the Formless Mother and created a secret society/cult in an attempt to seize the crown and form an Age of Blood, his followers are all professional and career killers. Mohg is a monster with a moral code but not the same code as everyone else. Rather than fight man to man like everyone else he would prefer to strike at moments of weakness which is likely how he even came into contact with Miquella. From that moment forth Mohgs plans were modified to add Miquella although Miquella couldn't care less about his Age of Blood.

    Last thing to say though: I don't think Mohg's overall story changes too much though even with the new information that Miquella charmed him into the kidnapping. Assuming that's pretty much the only thing Miquella forced him to do, his foil is still very clear: as an opposite to Morgott. Omen twins that suffered oppression under Marika's rule, one who chose to suppress his curse to abide by the system, and one who embraced his cursed blood to free himself.

    • @spiritandsteel
      @spiritandsteel Місяць тому +6

      The Mohg/Morgott dichotomy always struck me as a really interesting narrative to interpret as an allegory for the available reactions of persecuted groups. It was originally a really yikes allegory, particularly as mohg is viewed initially as a depraved monster (and y’know. Miquella being childlike). That’s all definitely a little cleaner now. Mohg is a member of an othered group attempting to make an oppositional culture apart from the one that harmed him. It’s literally why many subcultures exist irl.
      But Morgott has always been an interesting counterpoint study into the ways oppressed peoples will sometimes support the systems of their own oppression in a bid to mitigate their personal suffering under said system. It’s a really common psychological phenomenon, and the tragedy of it is really well told in Morgott’s case. He’s the acting King, effectively, but still keeps his people in exile, hides any evidence of his existence from his subjects, and is filled with a pathological self-hatred and disgust at his own form, never thinking to question that it might be the order he is complicit in that is the problem.
      There was apparently cut content that involved an NPC in Leyendel that just HATED omen but was captain of the guard or something, and it involved him discovering that his beloved ruler was actually an omen, and he is immediately consumed by hatred and dsgust rather than facing his own prejudices. I’m a little sad it’s gone, but it probably hit the nail a little too hard on the head.

      @Paspaya  Місяць тому +2

      @@spiritandsteel Oh wow I love that perspective, the Mohg/Morgott angle is really really interesting and I never really considered it from that perspective before. This also kinda ties into the DLC Lore or at least into Miquella's lore since he is part of the dominant culture and the furthest away from being someone the golden order would seek to oppress.
      Morgott commits to the order that oppresses his group, becoming the acting King with the power to stop the persecution but instead he continues to upholds the status quo because he's been indoctrinated to the point where I suspect that his hatred for Omen very likely extends beyond his self hatred and he tries to compensate all that he is 'lacking' according to the golden order by enforcing an even more strict adherence to the faith. (Slaps the top of Morgott: 'this guy can fit so much religious guilt in him.')
      Then there's Miquella who, from what we know/can infer, actually had the support of the people around him aka the ruling class of the establishment, even once he began to stray away from golden order fundamentalism. His philosophy is build on inclusion and equality for the misbegotten and the Albinaurics. I don't know if we know when he began to build the Haligtree but it's basically the Eden of those ostracised by the Golden Order and besides the heavy religious connotations of that alone, the presence of the Oracle Envoys who 'herald the arrival of a new god or age' indicates that Miquella would be way more likely to successfully overthrow the golden order compared to for example Rykard, and yet Leyndell didn't seem to care all that much about what Miquella was up to. But in the end Miquella has abandoned his followers in the Lands Between and the Albinaurics in the cocoons are doomed to never emerge, his sister is left to rot and the misbegotten are left to be slaughtered, Latenna seems like the only one of his base game follower who is there with the intent of protecting the oppressed groups who seek refuge at the Haligtree and she's very likely an Albinauric herself (Don't quote me on this but I don't think there are many misbegotten fighting alongside the humanoid soldiers in the area after the Latenna fight but I need to go back and check).
      And then there's Mohg who escaped from the direct influence of the golden order and set up somewhere else, separated both in location and faith (Idk if it was clear enough in the video but I don't think Mohg is some super innocent 1000% good guy just more complex than the community gave him credit for) AND YET Mohg still ends up as a tool used by Miquella, someone with a very high standing in the golden order and amongst the general population, someone who is known for his kindness towards the oppressed groups in the lands between. I think Mohg isn't even a demigod that would be missed especially because no one really knows who he is or what he's up to.
      In the end the guy with the 'good intentions but no experience of living under the oppression of the Golden Order' is the one who continues the circle of ignorance and oppression. Or maybe it's my sociology degree making me overanalyse and interpret things when it's really not that deep. But anyway absolutely love this comment and it might send me down another rabbit hole so thank you!

    • @spiritandsteel
      @spiritandsteel Місяць тому +3

      @@Paspaya lol thank you! I also studied sociology. I’m there with you. 😆
      Expanding on that, though, I think your perspective on Miquella is super useful and expands this particular reading of the story immensely.
      From a intersectional humanist perspective, this allegory really bears out: I once heard a line from a professor that was something like "one of the biggest dangers to progressive change and aid for marginalized groups is "help" from well-meaning people of privilege."
      Basically, it's that people who have no experience in actual oppression do not have the intimate knowledge or even fundamental awareness to actually combat it. And, when it comes down to it, most likely won't make the sacrifices to their positions of power in order to effect meaningful change. Instead, they will make immaterial or unhelpful shows of sacrifice and support that serve to excuse or even reinforce the hierarchical privileges they were born into. IE, speaking FOR marginalized groups rather than providing a platform for those groups to speak for themselves. They take up air and space and make it about them, not the people they claim to be fighting for.
      Miquella positioned himself as a savior, the immaculate King of the Downtrodden, and did so through manipulation and coercion, as if just to prove his own benevolence to himself. And then, when it got down to it, abandoned every group and individual he initially claimed to champion in the endgame of his true goal of absolute power.
      It's incredibly poignant that we see him abandon parts of himself, seeming at first like grand shows of personal sacrifice, of martyrdom. And then we see him abandon his doubt followed by his love. And it becomes clear that these are not noble sacrifices, these are things that only ever superficially mattered to him as methods of absolving his sins or masking his cruelty. With his true goal in reach, he abandons everything that he claimed to be serving by reaching that goal. It was always about him. And he probably doesn't even see it, isn't even aware of his hypocrisy. He is a zealot to his own justifications. It's hauntingly familiar, to anyone who's ever tried to work in public policy or aid outreach. The powerful will not let go of their power, no matter how beneficent they might believe themselves to be.
      As an aside: there's a ghost in the Shadow keep that says a line that I haven't seen anyone pick up on for its thematic power. While stating disbelief that Marika has cut them off, he says something to the effect of "Messmer is her child! She would not abandon her _own flesh and blood_ !"
      This, I think, is an illustration of Miquella's actions mirroring his mother's. He is literally abandoning his own flesh and blood, with the same cruel disdain as his mother figuratively did. It is a juxtaposition that shows they are playing the exact same game, with the exact same rules, with the exact same goal.
      Crazy stuff.

The frequency of people calling him kind and such also made me wary, this is Fromsoft after all. I wish we could have gotten to see Mohg before being charmed. I made sure to hit Miquella with my harshest weapons and spells on behalf of Mohg and Radahn.
    Glad I can finally say Mohg is a rad dude without being attacked by others in the fandom. The Omen Twins were always my favorite characters, I feel they’re both the most compelling of the Demigod children and I wish their themes and dichotomy got more of a spotlight. If, by some grace, there is another dlc, I wish the crucible and the twins could get more spotlight.

    The wild thing about all of this to me has been seeing people talk about Miquellester as though he's a good person in any capacity. Just a complete failure to read the situation.
    I do wonder about Radahn growing horns though. I'm not entirely convinced that was intentional. Miquellester seems to fetishize youth. I half suspect the reason he doesn't age is in part because of his own will not to. He brings Radahn back not as he was when he died but as this idealized, youthful vision. But the image is not complete. There are the horns. The thing we know about the horns is that they will continue to grow. What that will mean for Radahn were he to live is hard to say. But I think that they would grow more and more unsightly in Miquellester's eyes as they developed. The further Radahn moved away from that idealized image in his mind, the more Miquellester would resent him.
    One of the most disturbing things about the hornsent to me was their use of Divine Beasts. Those lion headed guys, when they get mature enough, apparently get their head chopped off and made into one of those dancing lion golems. What would this entail for Radahn? How would the hornsent view him? How would they have viewed Mohg? Would they be eyeing his head for removal?
    Miquellester's idea of a perfect world is one in which nothing changes. There is no strife or change because everyone is ultimately mind controlled. His vision of the world is a lot like Marika's in that sense. She removed death from the world in the hopes of achieving her utopia. But it was a curse. Death is inevitable, strife is inevitable. So imagine this conflict between Miquellester's desires, the hornsent's desires and the desires of the people of the Lands Between. Miquellester was on the same path Marika walked and it could only ever lead to world altering disaster.

    • @Paspaya
      @Paspaya  Місяць тому +1

      Oh damn that's an interesting angle to interpret it from, I understood it as omen in a regular sentence because it wasn't capitalised as in the Omen, but even then to me
      'the curse of the omen shall strike thee down in the form of the sacred beasts ire'
      sounded more like the curse of the omen is something embodied by the sacred beast/the curse of the omen is something originating from the Hornsent
      and for the other part about the Tangled Horns, I mainly assumed that tangled horns are a sign of divinity in general considering that the Horned Bairn states:
      "Doll of a tanglehorn bairn. Uses FP to summon vengeful spirits around the caster that autonomously chase down foes. Tangled horns are a symbol of spirituality, but most young born bearing the oversized horns meet a frightfully early demise. These fetishes are made to memorialize them."
      as well as the immunising horn charm +2
      "Horns are sublime artifacts to hornsent, and their presence confirms the belief that they are a chosen people.
      Only the repeated sprouting of fresh horns can create a tangled horn, which is viewed as an irrefutable symbol of primacy."

    • @cyberninjazero5659
      @cyberninjazero5659 Місяць тому +1

      @@Paspaya Another interesting thing to note is the difference between the Horned Bairn item and the Omen item. If you use both, you'll notice that the spirits from the Omen Bairn are Black but surrounded by a yellow tint. The Horned Bairn variant doesn't have a yellow tint but a white one instead. This yellow is different from Gold/Grace. But it does seem that the Watchful Spirit incantation is a midway point between these two since it has a slight yellow tint that's lighter than the Omen one but also contrasting the pure white of the Tanglehorn one.
      Oh, and I have to correct myself. I was wrong about the Tanglehorn because the Inquisitors exist, so there is another path for them aside from Ascetcisim. Of course, those who go that path will never ascend to divinity, but the trade-off is that they don't have to live a life of self-harm where they are spurned as cursed if they fail.
      As an aside, what do you think of Ancestral Spirit Followers possibly being a revival movement/otherwise descendant from the Hornsent? All the Horned Charm items from them have Hornsent versions
