I always found the tempo of the first season weird but i love it. The dialogues are extremly fast but there are pauses for punchline or visual comedy that is off sometimes but it reinforces the identity of a show made by two dudes cuttint paper shapes
Ginger kids changed my life. I was in 6th grade, and I got to school that thursday, walked up to my buddies, looked at them with sad eyes, and said, "Guys... I need to tell you something." And without missing a beat, they looked at me and said, "We know Josh. You're a ginger." Iconic. And then in 8th grade after the Hardly Boys episode, all the guys were constantly referring to their "clues" and only like 1 or 2 girls and none of the teachers had any idea what the hell we were talking about. Or why we were talking like that. It was so much fun lmao.
It's hilarious but the 911 propaganda was super lame. I lost respect for Matt and Trey after that. I honestly believe THEY ARE retahr_ted for believing the OBVIOUS bs official 911 report.

For me it’s season 4-15, ending right around “You’re Getting Old.” I do agree that there was a slight shift in quality around the death of Chef, but there are so many classics in seasons 11-14 and those runs as a whole still feel like classic South Park. After “You’re Getting Old” I felt the creators were done with South Park and were just using it as a meta analysis of their own experiences. It became self-parody.
Coming from the beginning of the video, I'd guess the golden age was 1999-2006. I think it was still great afterwards, but those years are when they were most popular

yep, I started watching around season 14 and it was all great by that point, so by the time 15 came around it was still good, but you could tell it wasn't as iconic as the previous one. By 16 and 17 it felt pretty stale, but 18 was great again. Obvi there are no bad seasons.
That’s a hot take. For me, it’s seasons 5-19. Season 4 had Pip which disqualifies it. Season 5 was not only the perfect season, but the season where South Park cemented itself as an important voice in post-9/11 America zeitgeist. Season 20, the first attempt at a fully serialized season was their first actual dud and they didn’t have another perfect season until season 26.

I love South Park. I am new to it, I just started watching it when a friend brought it to my attention. I watched it in 8th grade. I am now a 10th grader and I still love it. I might let my kids watch it.
I cant lie, Return of Chef is probably still my favorite episode of the entire series and thats saying a lot bc Randy is my favorite character lol. Every time I watch it it gets me DYING laughing 😂😂😂
For me season 3-11 is peak south park. I think 12 is when the storylines started to become absurd and it felt like they were out of ideas. They leaned more into immature humor with episodes like "the poop that took a pee", "brittneys new look", or "eat pray queef". The show lost its importance.
season 16 is the end for me, can’t watch season 16 till everything released today & all the specials. 1-15 are funny, random episodes and controversial. after s16 everything is story lined, whole season about a new principal, president, randy’s farm
@beaualoevv yeah i agree. I think season 12-15 is still watchable but not my favorite. But I stopped watching after they introduced pc principal and all that. It became a completely different show after that.
I'm so deeply disappointed that they cancelled F is for Family (and you cant even buy 4 of the released seasons on physical media) That show might not be for everyone, but for me it was THE most comfy show I ever experienced and was perfect when I still smoked weed
I haven't watch the full video yet but if you say that you want to find the best run, the borders shouldn't be defined by seasons. You could find the first min 8/10 episode and go one by one until you find a dud (7/10) that is followed by a perfect episode, until you hit an other dud. You can start this algorithm from any min 8/10 episode and then count from which episode you had the longest run.
The great thing about South Park is that one persons least favorite can be another most. I’d say season 10 was almost all bangers, I didn’t feel like South Park was falling off until the election episodes

Wow I tried doing it by your method and I guess I'm a bit more strict lol Mine ended up being 6-8. Just 3 consecutive seasons lol Quintuplets, Pip, and Trapper Keeper of 4 never really got me laughing that much or interested me enough to rank them highly, same with the Terrance and Phillip Behind the Blow, Osama Bin Laden has Farty Pants, or Proper Condom Use in 5, and Mr Garrison's Fancy New Vagina, Wing, and Follow that Egg in 9. Though on another note, I actually really like both "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce", and "Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy" lol
For me personally and as an early prediction before I finish the video, I believe the perfect run was season 4-12. The best episode of season 10 outweigh the bad ones. The chef one is actually good to me so is the unrial (I love the gag of Kyle and Stan not knowing who to trust and it being Stan in the end). And I actually did watch dog the bounty hunter so the entire episode is hilarious to me. For season 11: there’s too many great to name. The Jesse Jackson, lice Capades, night of living homeless, Easter special, the imagination land trilogy, etc. I think the only “dud” episode of the season had 1 is more crap (ep 9) Finally season 12 is actually my favorite season of all time. Tonsil trouble starts out strong, major boobage is hilarious and I love the Kenny utilization, over logging, super fun time, Wendy beating cart and ass in breast cancer show, the pandemic, the about last night episode about Obama, the elementary school musical (ep as someone who loves HSM), I find myself coming back to this season more than anything. I will say this is where I feel the perfect run ends
I been watching south park since 1996 and even though some episodes arent my favorite, in my opinion its still golden. I loved serialization even though some hated it, and yeah earlier seasons are way different than later but its grown and always improved in my opinion. Simpsons fell off by the movie and i LOVED simpsons, south park has always been a masterpiece every season to me. Never a bad season even if a random episode sucks here and there
I think south park has 4 golden ages that span across the production years The first one was from season 4 all the way to "with apologies to jesse Jackson", and then punctual highlights from seasons 11 through 18 like About last Night, Handicar, Cock Magic, Major Boobage, Canada on strike and stuff like that. Then the serialized seasons (19, 20, 21) were really great IN MY OPINION although they really suffer from the lack of mr. Garisson, and then the special era that begun back on the vaccination special and lasts until today
By your formula, I'd say the perfect run ended with Season 10 -- Chef getting killed off was a bummer, but I'd still give that an 8/10 for the continued jabs at Scientology. But the Oprah/Towelie episode was meh at best, and Stanley's Cup just didn't work for me, even as a parody of sports movie cliches. Still, Season 10 is definitely within my personal golden era (Season 4-14 or 15).
I was just looking at all the seasons on HBO Max and Season 19 definitely stands out to me as the moment the show started to go down hill. I think recently it has found its footing again, but for a while there it wasn't very good.
Woah woah woah woah woah. The Quintuplets episode is a 7.9? Do you not understand the history of that episode? That basically was the first time South Park was able to reference a current event that happened WITHIN DAYS That never happened in an animated show EVER before
Best seasons are 8 and 9. And ima get hate for it but seasons 20-23 are rly good. I enjoy them a lot and I think cartman and heidi are funny, but that’s just me
I personally see seasons 1-3 as the growing pains. The film started the golden age and it went until the middle of season 20 when trump won the election and threw the plot into a blender
For me, the golden age has always been Seasons 1-8. There have been many good episodes from the future seasons but most of the episodes just seemed so lifeless and dynamic. They relied on repeatedly using the same jokes over and over again and lacked most of the fun, cartoony style of the early series. This season marked the beginning of the Randy-era, where they kept trying to make Randy into their show's version of Homer and Peter, which has gotten so annoying. It makes sense that Matt and Trey wanted to end the show here. It should have just ended there, so they could move on to do something better in the future.
bahhh... your dud-meter is too strict. I think they held strong from season 3 to about season 15.... maybe not "perfect" but enough classics to make it damn near perfect. and honestly 16 and beyond aren't even bad... they just have a completely different vibe.
my favorite seasons 9-15. older episodes are alright but just can’t watch the newest ones. i watched everything till season 25 once while i can watch s9-15 thousands of times. the specials aren’t it either.
Season 10 is obviously insanely good. This video clearly had an outcome already in your head before you start making it and then didn't want to do any more research or effort into the actual video. I would say 10 is an all time classic. 11 it's a real let down but 12, 13 and 14 are back to being as good as South park has ever been.
I feel like South Park at its absolute peak is something like season 5 through season 15, especially 5 through 11. There are great & all time great episodes/specials before & after 5-15 but that’s truly when it was firing on all cylinders consistently. 3-4 are great seasons but I feel like 5 was a noticeable step up. 1-2 are also very good but hadn’t quite evolved yet to what the show became best at. 16 was probably the worst season since the first 2. 23 might’ve been the best season post season 15. The new regular episodes since they started airing the specials aren’t quite as good though & not nearly as good as the specials besides the Vaccination Special that one was just okay. They should stick to the specials from now on & do another theatrical film
Great analysis and system. I really like your take on it. Except ranking Pip a 9.0 is wild lol. I’ve never heard of anyone who actually enjoyed this episode. It’s my pick for the worst episode of all time right above not without my anus. Comedy Central rarely even shows it in syndication. Biggest (and only) dud in season 4 in my opinion
This may just be my personal taste but, I think it stopped being perfect after season 10. 1 through 10 were great with only a handful of bad episodes in between. 11 is where they started making stinker after stinker. Just nothing but, bad episodes back to back. Modern South Park is everything the old South Park fought against.
@@skotyb Well like I said. They lost their edge. Instead of lampooning the woke they simply center their plots around them. Claiming it as satire while still allowing it to exist. Like PC Principle. He should have been a one season character and now any time South Park acts like it's going back to how it was he shows up to stop it. Then they got rid of Mr. Hankey over mean tweets and he still isn't back. The boys don't even call out bullshit anymore. They just let slide. Beacause "gay little speeches" are no longer allowed.
season 7 was the last perfect season for me season 8 was when i started to lose interest in the show at that point i was just watching it to watch it wasnt on my mind all through out the week it wasnt something i looked forward to anymore and just became something to waste 30 minutes on on a wednesday night lol
I absolutely do not accept the notion that South Park isn’t as good as it’s ever been. This ain’t the Simpsons we are talking about, South Park has never not been good (well, after like the first or second season anyway)
Mrs. Teacher Bangs a Boy is an absolute classic. I don't understand how that isn't at least an eight, at minimum.

I think the only “dud” episode of the season had 1 is more crap (ep 9)
Finally season 12 is actually my favorite season of all time.
11 months later it still dosent work imma just head to play wow again that intro was hella demotivating
Never a bad season even if a random episode sucks here and there
I think south park has 4 golden ages that span across the production years
The first one was from season 4 all the way to "with apologies to jesse Jackson", and then punctual highlights from seasons 11 through 18 like About last Night, Handicar, Cock Magic, Major Boobage, Canada on strike and stuff like that.
Bro seriously called Stanley Cup a non dud episode
Season ranking video!!!!
I don't know what this guy is smoking (or perhaps isn't smoking) as Weight Gain 4000 and Mrs. Teacher Bangs a Boy are top 15 episodes.
I was just looking at all the seasons on HBO Max and Season 19 definitely stands out to me as the moment the show started to go down hill. I think recently it has found its footing again, but for a while there it wasn't very good.
Weight Gain 4000 was the best
Does it ever make a new perfect run though?
My most favorite South Park episode is Obama Wins
Woah woah woah woah woah. The Quintuplets episode is a 7.9?
Do you not understand the history of that episode?
That basically was the first time South Park was able to reference a current event that happened WITHIN DAYS
That never happened in an animated show EVER before
Best seasons are 8 and 9. And ima get hate for it but seasons 20-23 are rly good. I enjoy them a lot and I think cartman and heidi are funny, but that’s just me
i llove the tolerence episode it's scarily accurate
For me 5-13 is golden age. 14 is when i first noticed a few poor episodes.
4 is the same, the odd dud for me
I personally see seasons 1-3 as the growing pains.
What is the point in scoring an episode with a .1 difference? That seems absurd to me, what is the difference between a 6.8 and 6.9?
so youre not gonna tell us how you decide to score the episodes? what is this supposed to be?
Also what is terrible about recent Family Guy? Some of the newest episodes from the 20s seasons are actually pretty good
Season 20 is peak.
my favorite seasons 9-15. older episodes are alright but just can’t watch the newest ones. i watched everything till season 25 once while i can watch s9-15 thousands of times. the specials aren’t it either.
For me the golden age was the first four seasons, never liked the direction they took after that.
My opinion is the peak was 4-14
Season 10 is obviously insanely good.
Season 4 - Season 15
Great analysis and system. I really like your take on it. Except ranking Pip a 9.0 is wild lol. I’ve never heard of anyone who actually enjoyed this episode. It’s my pick for the worst episode of all time right above not without my anus. Comedy Central rarely even shows it in syndication. Biggest (and only) dud in season 4 in my opinion
Fuck it, Pip is a 9.1
This may just be my personal taste but, I think it stopped being perfect after season 10. 1 through 10 were great with only a handful of bad episodes in between. 11 is where they started making stinker after stinker. Just nothing but, bad episodes back to back. Modern South Park is everything the old South Park fought against.
Explain
@@skotyb The jokes just stopped landing. The plots were getting dumber and the show started to lose it's edge.
@rebal180 Sorry I meant RE
: them being everything the old SP fought against
@@skotyb Well like I said.
The downfall of southpark was when Funnybot came out I watch every new episode for years then funnybot
Mega Man OST???

*doot dodoodoot*
Seasons 4- 14 are best
İmaginationland trio is last great South Park episodes.
black friday solos. and modern south park, especially post covid and the past 2 seasons have been really good actually
@@Yuro_X frrrrrr
That’s not true & the Black Friday trilogy is on par with it though I do prefer Imaginationland slightly
8:11 IS TGAT CLINT EASTWOOD BY GORILLAZ??
Perfect run is 4-9, ya say?
C'mere...
No, no, closer...
*whispers in your ear*
Simpsons did it.
😅💛
It worked.
