Before and After adding a resonator to my Borla Atak Catback System

- I install the Boral Atak about a year ago. I really liked the sound, but it is a little to loud for a daily driver. I called Borla and ordered the resonator the they use in their S-Type system.
The piece was completely interchangeable the the Atak kits straight 3in pipe the coupled with my stock Y pipe.
The sound is lower and much quieter when driving at highway speeds. Still has the Borla Atak tone, just lower and quieter.
I was charged around $210 for the resonator from Borla Direct. That is the only way to get a 100% bolt in replacement for the 3" pipe.

Dam that's a big difference that resonator really eliminated the mild raspity sound the back fire sounds awesome brother

Did you put the resonator before or after the muffler?
Do you find a huge difference in cold start and drone inside the cab. Have a roush exhaust on my truck love it but would like to get it little quieter in the start and drone inside.

Wwooow its way better with resonator. Don't have to be loud, it have to be clean
They are both too raspy and cackling. But with resonators help. I have 2017 ram with magnaflows and stock resonators. Sounds mint. Nothing but smooth and throaty

Hardly notice but a little... did it reduce drone?
tommy d u b b s yes. Mostly noticed the difference under load. Reduced drone and overall lower volume.
that's almost the same on the outside to me which is nice, I thought the s type doesn't have a resonator either though only the touring kit
I have the S. Thinking about removing the resonator and leaving the muffler. What do you think?

I know this video is older but I have the atak on my f150 and was wondering how you go about installing the resonator and which one you got from Borla?
It was the resonator that comes on the S-type exhaust … I ordered it direct from Borla. Was a straight swap with on section of the bolt on exhaust. Been 8 years but that’s how I remember it.

tht sounds really good. i got 2017 f150 v8 with super 10 outlaw catback exhaust by flowmaster. will this 3inch resonator from borla will work with flowmaster ? any help

Where is the resonator installed? Before or after muffler
cruz gonzales before muffler. The muffler is just befor your axel where it splits to dual. The resonator is installed shortly after the two manifolds y together up front . Same location as stock resonator.

It’s been a while now. Two truck in the past... I am pretty sure I looked up parts diagram of S-Type exhaust and called Borla direct to order that specific part number
Don’t have the truck any longer. I had a friend with the same truck only red. It had a rousch. His was obnoxious. Mine never bothered me at all. Not even towing.

Did they carry a 4" resonator?
Zigman I ordered it from Borla. I think it was the resonator from the S type exhaust if I remember correctly. Call them they should know. Just replaced a small straight pipe section.
But by doing that doesn’t it make it the
Borla S type???
Simon Amaral no I ask borla that. Similar setup but the Attack muffler is acoustically tuned for the engine. It’s a different t muffler then the s type I guess.
Did adding the resonator return any low end torque that may have been lost without it?
I honestly didnt notice any loss of low end torque with the resonator removed orignally. The stock resonator was 2.5 inch and the added borla resonator was 3".

You will have to contact Borla, technically a custom part. Its the resonator out of there S-type system.

Magnaflow fucking sucks I put a magnaflow muffler on my Borla to quiet it down and it’s quieter then stock now damn near sounds like shit and I even have headers!!
