- In this video I compare the Sony 50mm f/1.8 OSS with the Sony 50mm f/1.8 FE. Both of these lenses work great with Sony APSC cameras like the a6000, a5000, or NEX series, however the 50mm OSS is only for APSC cameras so it will not work on cameras such as the A7, A1, or A9 series.

Focus noise is coming from the motor on the FE 50mm not on the OSS 50mm.
And focus speed is higher on the oss lens compared to the FE
I've had the FE for years, and I need to buy another 50mm for my other cameras. Over time, the OSS could have saved me several scenes where the built in stabilizer wasn't present in the FE. One small bump even with a gimbal has caused me a handful of scenes. I almost just bought another FE as I'm typing, but you just sold me on the OSS for this exact reason.
I like the look of the FE with the lens hood, and my customers think it looks cool too. Aesthetics are important to a lot of customers to make them feel like they arent hiring a cheap camera guy.
The noisy motor is something I don't mind at all, but I use external microphones. The slower focus on the FE is best in some scenes, but a little quicker focus on the OSS would work better for faster scenes. However, focus speed can be controlled in camera settings.

Great video, but when will you do a video on the nex 7? I mean come on its the only nex with a microphone port. I get that it sucks in low light but the mic input has to make it worth it right?
That is the one I have for NEX7. Probably the best lens I own. Image qualify and image stabilization. You can't beat it.
Can someone tell Sony that aps c lenses are supposed to be smaller lenses than full frame lenses?

Bel video. Invece tra un 50mm Sony FE e un 50 mm Sony 2.8 macro ????quali sono le differenze ? Conviene il 2,8 macro visto che ha in più la caratteristica di fare anche foto Macro?
FE image is always on the left, OSs always on the right? Cuz it isn't annotated in later shots.
