    Regardless of anything else, the fact it has physical buttons for quicker access to the common functions, means it wins over Golf immediately.

    • @Djeseret
      @Djeseret 2 роки тому +20

      In the middle between the two rows of buttons there is also a sunken line that is illuminated, this is intended to support the thumb when you press the screen so that the hand gets stable support while driving the car and does not move uncontrolled across the screen. This detail designed in this way is unique, it was introduced as an idea in Astra 2016.

      Totally. Having had a Velar, I can truly say I despise these touch screen ops. Way more distracting than using a phone. I'm thankful my Arteon was one of the last before the facelift, hence still has physical buttons. The facelift is now the same as Golf Mk8 which is why I wouldn't have one. The Astra looks great. I wonder if it will take the hatchback crown and beat both Golf and Focus? It will need to drive as well as it looks. That would be a turn up for the books.

      I had a DS3 CROSSBACK and that was fully digital, all buttons were touch sensitive. It was infuriating!
      The current crop of VW group cars with touch sensitive sliders are atrocious. I wouldn't even consider them because of this.

The visor was a concept dating back to the Opel Manta from the 1970’s, and was revived back in 2017 with the launch of the Opel GT X Concept. Pretty much half of Opel/Vauxhall’s model range features the Visor grille. Which is why someone could say, “Oh the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s front end looks like the New Mokka.” The visor is an Opel development so Opel deserve the credit.
