I've got a 2024 Model Y LR and the ride is still too firm for my liking - noticeably worse than the stock 2020 Model 3 LR I had before it. It's great on smooth roads and holds well through corners but at it's worst over small or undulating bumps typical of UK roads. I'm honestly glad it's on a lease and going back in 21 months!
Thanks for your comment. That’s quite interesting as I really thought Tesla had nailed this issue on the newer models but appears not. I think we’re just unlucky that the state of roads in the UK is abysmal when compared to other countries and our cars just can’t perform their best!
@@Carbonwurks yes i still have my mom's 2019 model 3 158k miles , and my dad's model Y 98k miles , the only difference i noticed is the sway bars ( stiffer ) and the rebound ( set to a higher setting ) compression was left the same because i do take from time to time here in Monterrey my car to the track .
Excellent explanation and demo. Thanks guys. Just looking at a Y and noted Jan. 2023 from the Giga Shanghai factory new Y's came with updated suspension. Still going to wait for a 2025 with all the other mods but great to see there's a 'simple'!! fix for those with pre-23 cars. How does this affect the warranty on the vehicle given it is a change to the factory issue?
It does look like the later version are better improved. Warranty wise it will depend on what may be the problem with the car and also how each country/dealership see this upgrade. Hard one to give a definitive answer on.
I am in the midland and looking for someone to install a better shock absorber, 22 model y lr awd, just unbearable 😢😢 couldn't travel all the way to south 😔
I’m sure there will be suspension specialists nearer to you that could undertake the upgrade. If not, head down south for a couple days and we can undertake the upgrade 😀
I have 2022 model Y and it rides like an empty garbage truck over a bumpy road. It's terrible. I wish you had a service here in the US. I would be knocking on your door.
Ha not heard it referenced as that before 😂 I’m sure you might be able to find a reputable mechanic / garage near you that can install the TEIN suspension for you? Hopefully one day we might grace your shores! :)
Thank you. Yeah, the model Y has all the suspension of a steam locomotive. It's good to know that your suspension is available here in the US. @@Carbonwurks

Have you changed the steering options?
I guess you are talking about 2020 to 2022 Model Y. In 2023 and 2024, the comfort of the ride was significantly improved. Isn't it?
This was in fact a 2022 model and like you say I believe this has now been resolved in the newer models (Not been in one myself however)
you are 10000% right newer models like the One i have 2023 they improved the ride significantly
That’s great to hear. Out of interest, did you have one of the older models and then notice a big difference?

Well you’re certainly well versed to make the comparison then! Glad you now have a comfier car! Also taking a Tesla on track, awesome!

What sort of cost isnit to get this done?
The suspension kit itself will vary depending where you are based but all in it’s around 6 hours labour including testing and proper wheel alignment.
@Carbonwurks thanks for the reply. Am based in London, so will look around for a local installer
don’t buy these, I did, and as many others have found they’re junk. They were initially amazing but became noisy and clunky
Interesting feedback. Over what time frame did that happen?
