    Just thought I'd add, these two guys are pretty good at reviewing and explaining this device as well as others / reviews. They condense what could be a long learning curve into a concise amount of time with the luxury of being able to refer back if and when you have a setup question or idea. ... can't beat it.

    Perhaps the best explanation of how the tone prints works I've seen. A+!

    Description of the attack is backwards More attack is not grabbing hold of the signal and compressing it right out of the gate, or clamping down on it 'more'. That would make it quieter during the attack part of the signal. 2:57 Increasing the attack just delays the onset of compression.

      Is this true? If so, interesting and quite important to understand.

    • @shaunlindsey24
      @shaunlindsey24 3 роки тому

      @@vernal6944 it is true. A slower attack time will squeeze the signal slower leaving the initial transient in tact. turn up the output gain and and the transients stand out more because the notes are being squeeze after the initial strike.

    Great video! Just unboxed this bad boy to add to my rig for acoustic gigs. Very excited to mess around with this pedal!

    Stellar review here from Sweetwater. I really like TC's products and use many of them. I need a great compressor and will purchase one of these based on TC's features and superior user friendly very useful and musical deep editing.

      Blakkstone Hexx I've had one for over a year now and it's an "always on" pedal on my board. I run it between my dirt and modulation, and I still get all the dynamic control I need. Learned a few new things from this video too! :-)

    I'll be buying one after Christmas, it's crazy how many compressor pedals I have bought, hopefully this will be the one. I can buy one overdrive, echo, tremolo etc pedal and be satisfied, but with the compressor pedal, I keep looking for the right one.

  • @Subtle-System
    @Subtle-System 8 років тому +6

    Great demo. It does have tons of features, lacks the tube style compression tone, but it's like working with numerous different compressors.Definitely good bang for the buck, I was dissapointed with it, and people have hated me for posting my frustrations.Which the only thing is sound quality, other than that it is the best compressor out there in options and possibilities.But it's hard to get a good vintage sound, even on their vintage mode is too dark to be useable now a days, but I would get it for the possibilities alone. Definitely better than most comps out there.But not the number 1 in tone. But I would still get it if I was looking for a new kind of compressor with th added value that you can use an old school Ross compressor if you don't like the subtle.. But the key for great, great compression is in the editor, don't be shy about it. Even if you're not a computer person or whatever just try and move things randomly and you'll start to get the hang of it. The key is editor!

    I’m sure on my HyperGravity Mini turning the Attack all the way anti-clockwise is where it clamps down quicker, yet in this video they seem to think fully clockwise is the quickest setting 😨

    At first I thought why have a tone print on a compressor (i.e.- how many more modeled comp effects and parameter knobs do you really need?) but this seems like a very sharp product with true usefulness. Lots to demo here, but great info. Very impressed all around. I'll consider one of these now. I have a Boss unit. Might be time for an upgrade. I agree: that blend knob is really essential. Thanks.

    Some Tri-Chorus and Reverb to that last bit before the end of the video and it'd be really amazing! I can't help it, I really love Tri-Chorus.

    2:45 Isn't that backwards? Attack down = fast, grabbing transient. Attack up = slow letting transient through??

    I bought a TC pedal and the USB connection never worked on my Mac and no tech support. Good for buyers to know. Pedal companies better make sure their entire line of pedals continue to have software support.

      Did you connect the pedal by pressing the foot switch,before connecting it to the USB port to you Mac,and before powering it up with the power supply?

      You could verify my statements by loading the spectra or vintage tone print in tone print software and looking at the mappings.

  • @shatteredsquare
    @shatteredsquare 4 роки тому

    does the toneprint setting have any EQ or tone adjustment available?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  4 роки тому

      Hey, shatteredsquare. Thanks for your question! The HyperGravity does not have dedicated EQ or tone shaping options. The vintage mode is a bit darker and the multi-band mode allows you to focus on specific frequency ranges, but otherwise the controls are what you traditionally expect on a compressor. Please contact me direct for more discussion, we can certainly help you find what you're looking for.

    Do you know if you keep your preset loaded after you plug off the pedal?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  5 років тому +1

      Hello, Romain! When you create a tone you really like, save it to the app or editor and load it into the pedal. The pedal does recall the last state of whatever toneprint was last saved to it prior to power down. Please contact me direct if I don't understand your question clearly. Thanks for contacting us!

    DO NOT BUY THIS PEDAL WITHOUT READING THIS: Very little explanation in manual; Editor doesn't work right, pedal sounds totally different when unplugged from editor. Bombarded with advertising in the papers they give with the pedal and on their website, so you have to dig for information. Not straightforward to use. Good explanations aren't given in the "manual". Taking mine back today; it's NOT something I can rely on in a live setting.

    A for effort but too professional video wise. I'd rather see those guys kick back with a beer on a couch, jam and talk gear for 20 min. This is too stiff.

      +Josh Brown Agreed. Don is a hell of a player and a sweet guy. Mitch is a repository of tweaky tech knowledge. But Mitch always talks too fast, and even though he's not, he sounds like a pushy salesman. Of course Sweetwater demands that every employee puts in a butt-plug. That tends to make anyone seem a bit uncomfortable.
