Capt Mark, is there any rhyme or reason with the tides and trolling for striped bass?
Went trolling yesterday in LI Sound. Had a 45 minute period when the bass were hitting and then the whole bite shut down.
Was wondering what part of the tide is best?

I find they eat as long as the tide moves.. When you see them on the machine up in the column, they are up there to feed and the best time to score on the troll.. If they are tight to the bottom it gets complicated lol.. that's when you have to drop a flutter or jig on their head. Trolling is a lot easier because you cover multiple fish..

When trolling for stripers does the time of day matter much?
I always heard stripers feed early morning and in the evening. Not so much mid day. Does that apply to trolling as well?

C, Father's Day was great thx..Bass will bite best early/late but you can definitely catch them during the day if you see them on the pods (one of my videos shows this) I have so many I get mixed up lol.. Soon the big fish will be deep because that's where the O2 is. You will have to transition over to the chunk, or drag gear early/late in deeper water. .. At least that's how I get them .. It has to be a moving tide, either will bite. Slack tide, break out the sandwich ! I get them on both sides
