Great album. Bought it maybe a week after it came out back in the day. Still have it. The original I got was a little thinner vinyl than most, but not warped. Very well produced. I still think I like Tales of Mystery & Imagination slightly more. But may consider this new vinyl version of Pyramid due to the remastering from original tapes and extras.
Ironically, Alan Parsons said, 'Audiophiles don’t use their equipment to listen to music-they use your music to listen to their equipment,' These albums were already stellar from the start, but I’m curious-how does it feel having to get up and flip the record after just two tracks? Also, if the Blu-ray sounds amazing, would a digital version hold up just as well? On a side note, I recently rediscoverednjoy in my CDs through using an external DAC, and it’s like I’ve rediscovered a piece of my past (back when I spent way too much on turntables).
@ Hi, I have no Blueray Hifi experience, and I am sure you are right. I may have slipped backwards as, whilst I am fortunate to have a bunch of equipment, I am using my old Rega with an old Cambridge Dac through an linemagnetic tube amp and quad speakers. I feel that the sound from this is not ‘in your face’, but the recessed aspect is nice to listen to for lengthy periods. It feels like I am in the audience, not right in front of the band… I am hearing something that reminds me of my turntable days.
One of my favourite albums from all time! The only downside I see is that this record has no gaps between most of it's songs. How have they've managed to fit these type of songs in 4 sides?
Half Speed cutting has nothing to do with the records being 45 RPM. The higher RPM was a choice made because you can get higher fidelity. The Alan PArsons Project LP box set that came out in 2023 were also half speed mastered by Showall and were all 33 1/3.
The music from the Alan Parson's Project is superb. I have most of their recordings on CD and Cassette. A CD, taken I think from the same master, is also available at a low, no brainer price, which would suit those who don't have a blu ray player hooked up to their hi-fi system. If only dvd and blu ray players had information displays like cd players then there would be no need to connect a monitor for music only. Grrrrrr....................
Hi Marti great interesting video re half master , the Mike Oldfield 50 years anniversary of jubilee bells had a 1/2 speed master on the lo set . Also I love Alan parson project too Regard mark
I got a german scratchh freecopy on cd of I Robot in perfect shape $ 1 american Dollar Great Bass!-Added, It seems to me that cd come out of Germany tend to be more bass heavy then a A lot of Cd releases . The Only other bands ive heard where the cds were actually made in germany are Rush an Amon Dull2 an not surrprisingly can ! ...
It all comes down to implementation. There are lps that "blow away" the same music on CD and visa versa. Not all lps are full of crackles and pops. Take care of your records. I have 60 year old lps that are silent. I like both formats for different reasons.
Now Alan Parsons produced Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon', the album which has the famous prisma on the cover, so there you have a prisma, here you have a very similar pyramid, so it is practically a rip off. But I believe the half speed master sounds really good...

Blue ray audio is superior to streaming and CD IMO.

I have the original first Album. It's nice!
Well, I have the original first press and it sounds very good, he was a sound engineer after all.🤷

The older DVD models did have displays but then they realised no one was buying cd players.

CDs are superior but I do like my vinyl.

Nice infomercial.
I've got an interview for the shopping channel next week.
@UTILITARIANTVUK Can they wait long? What with Valetines Day and Easter fast approaching!😁
Five and a half minutes into your video and I haven't heard Alan Parsons name yet. Pity.
I say it at 32 seconds into the video? 🤷♀️
