I wish they made a saint out of you, dude, it's not easy for me to find people like that... I'm a metalhead and I really love hair metal. Even though this genre was kinda popular from the 80's to the beginning of the 90's, a lot of hair bands played great music ( I also love some of the new bands, such as h.e.a.t, reckless love, crazy lixx ...) and I totally agree with you: that kind of music is 1000 times better than most modern hits. I'm sick of all these "true metalheads" sayin' this is false metal... Someone might say " I hate this music", but please let's try to be honest ... Heavy Metal is great because it is composed by a large variety of subgenres which can give you many different vibes, I think.
Dont really see them as Metal, but I agree with your assessment. They fall in there somewhere. Not pop, but not straight Metal either. They have their place.....
Without Motley Crue and others, there would be no modern metal. And the haters are just jealous because the old school stuff took more talent to play than the modern crap does.
Kickstart my Heart was written after Nikki Sixx of the band was pronounced dead on December 23, 1987 from a heroin overdose, His heart was "kickstarted" by an EMT with adrenaline.
These guys have no clue about the origin of this song. I've even heard the intro in a Disney movie lol. I guess the Mouse is down with overdosing on heroin lol
Philip Butler exactly! I've been a metalhead for 20 years and I'll never be ashamed to blast some Motley Crue any day! Even if they aren't as heavy as Metallica or Slayer or something, they'll still be in my mix.
Philip Butler I mean, in all fairness Motley Crue was never that great. Maybe one of the more memorable of the infinite glam metal bands of the 80s but nothing really earth-shattering ever came from them.
"Metal elitist" and self-proclaimed deathcrusher here, and I don't need the beer to enjoy this at a barbecue these days - it's been on my playlist a while now. It may pain me to do so, but I've gotta give Motley Crue credit: they really rock.
This was actually one of my favorite songs right before I actually started getting into bands like Metallica, Megadeth and Iron Maiden in '89. The video for it was great too.
Former guitar player from a certain Maryland death metal band here ... I agree, great song that doesn't require beer to enjoy. WTF it's a Crue song that's played with muted downstrokes... even elitists should be cool with it.
Metal elitists are just neck beard incels. Their attitude towards "non-metal" is just them lashing out at the rest of the world for having fun without them.
I'm a huge metal/rock fan, but I'm a little old school as to I don't get into sub genres and all that bullshit it's annoying for the most part, I pretty much see it and call it by the origin, it's all pop or country or rock or hip hop, I only accept a few sub genres if they make sense.

there was a time when I completely cut 80's Pop Metal out of my life. No CD's, all gone. 10... 15 years pass... BOY i started missing Crue, Poison, Cinderella.... Dokken
Absolutely correct. That was their peak in the studio. You can thank their legendary producer, Bob Rock. He, even by the band's admission, absolutely drove them relentlessly and pulled their very best out of each player. He pushed them to new heights; "Dr. Feelgood" is the proof....both the title song and the album, by far their best seller ever.
Don't know why some people are bitchin about the choice of this song...it's a great fuckin song!!! No, not the Crüe's best track, but up there as one of their better ones for sure...as for the song itself, it's really quite biographical, in reference to Nikki's heart stopping adventure one evening...now part of Crüe lore, as well as brief touches on the bands early days...this track was the Crüe in 1989, lookin back on a decade of decadence.
I'm an 80's girl. Motley Crue, Skid Row, Poison, Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Warrant...need I go on??? Cuz I can. Seriously, these songs were my youth. Most of my memories as a young woman are tied to 80's rock. ❤
I'm an 80s girl as well. Saw Motley Crue in '87 or '88, awesome show!! If you haven't watched The Dirt yet on Netflix, check it out, I think you will love it!

The Golden Child was from 1986. This song is from 1989. It was inspired by Nikki Sixx's heroin overdose in 1987 where he was legally dead on the way to the hospital. But the EMT was a fan and revived him with two shots of Adrenaline.
Andrea Martinez I was just saying the Golden Child came out in 1986 while this song was released in 1989. I probably should've been more clear on that.
Fun fact: dude looks like a lady by Aerosmith was inspired by Steven Tyler (lead singer for Aerosmith) seeing Vince Neal (lead singer of Motley Crue) from across the bar and thought he was a chick. 😂😂😂
People can trash talk glam metal all they want, but like they said, this was all about fun. If you were a kid in the 80's, then this music reminds you of... the days when you rode your bikes without helmets... mom didn't have a leash called a "cell phone" tied to you... Friends were real people, not just counters on a social website...Action movies had practical effects, comedies were actually funny...And cartoons had the best intros ever. Ahhh, nostalgia....
Grunge/Alternative rock hit when I turned 15, so I've managed to maintain a lot of nostalgia for both. But Glam Metal was pretty uncool in the 90s and that's where a lot of the hate still comes from.
I despise the "glam metal" title as much as I hate the "hair band" distinction . . . . any of those bands that people call that would throw down and kick your ass to a pulp for it . . . These bands were more hardcore than any grunge or modern rock pussies could even deal with. Long live real Rock and Roll1
I had this cassette in my tape deck back in the day while driving dow nthe highway....looked at my speedometer and was doing 120. this song is adrenaline in vinyl!!!!
Awesome! Now do Whitesnake - Still of the Night please! PS: The song isn't actually about kickstarting a motorcycle, it's literally about kickstarting Nikki Sixx's heart with a defibrulator when he overdosed. He was declared dead, and they revived him.
Roadstar1602 I saw Whitesnake and Motley Crue together in concert in the mid 80s. Still of the Night was EPIC live! To say that this concert was great is such an understatement.
I’m more into the heavier stuff like Metallica and Maiden but there’s nothing wrong with the glam stuff. It’s not meant to impress snobby musician types. It’s exactly like George said it is. It’s a banger. Just good timin’ party music. I like it. It’s great for lifting your spirits. Great job again, fellas.
It's cool to see these guys reactions to songs that I saw and heard during my teenage years....it was great when this song came out on MTV and was a huge hit.
@@LadyLiberty-zd1nv IT"S A MOVIE,OF COURSE IT WAS RUSHED,SO THE MOVIE IS NOT TOO LONG!YOU ALSO EXPECTED A BIOPIC TO BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE?IT"S A FUCKIN MOVIE.
The song that was in Golden Child movie scene was the band “Ratt” the song name is “Body Talk”. Ratt is an awesome band and was considered to be a rival of Motley Crue.
The song you're thinking of from Golden Child crackhouse scene is Body Talk by Ratt. However this song has been used a bunch in movies. First one that comes to mind is Talledaga Nights. And that cool guitar effect towards the 2nd 1/2 of the song is a lil thing called a talk box. Used extensively by guys like Bon Jovi and Peter Frampton, and odd songs out there like this one. And for a request, Zero Signal by Fear Factory.
Jambi by Tool has a better exposition of the effect, but there's also Joe Walsh's Rocky Mountain Way and Nazareth's Hair of the Dog, but here's some other stuff if LiV wants to see how this thing is used : ua-cam.com/video/7tCzYIwesM8/v-deo.html
Yeah, Pinkmetalhead beat them to the punch on Fear Factory, she did a reaction to "DEMANUFACTURE" last week...but she delves deeper into metal than the LiV guys do...mixes it in with some hip hop and now some comedy routine reactions...
Motley were fun ass rock n roll. Plain and simple..good grooves, catchy hooks, and chicks. Even other bands that are known and were on tour with them talk about getting the leftovers.. haha. Does exactly what music should...oh and mick Mars is unrated .
Nikki sixx wrote that song after he overdosed on heroine and was dead for several minutes. The doctor had to stab him in the heart with a needle of adrenaline to kickstart his heart hence the song name.
The motorcycle sound is done with the whammy bar. They call that a dive bomb. It was actually done over 10 years before it by Montrose on Bad Motor Scooter. Check that one out when you get a chance. That was the 1st band to feature Sammy Hagar on vocals. Montrose had many great hard rock songs.
@@marcweiser8669 Had Crue had any sense, they would have marketed Mars much better than they did. Another guy that didn't get his due was Malcolm Young. He had just as much ability as his brother, but never looked for the lime light.
1234 Crue is one of my dad's favorite bands. My dad introduced me to them when I was in like 7th grade. I'm 20 now. I still rock out to Crue with my dad. Truly a great band!!! \m/
Saw them in '85 for Theatre of Pain (Tommy's 90 degree drum solo) and '90 for Dr. Feelgood (Tommy's floating above the crowd drum solo). Tommy's solos were insane!!! They didn't come to my town in '87 for Girls, Girls, Girls (Tommy's 360 degree drum solo) and I couldn't make the trip to the nearest show. It was a 200 mile trip and I had to work the morning after. A few friends went to see it though and I really wished I hadn't missed that 360 cage solo.
I grew up with this kind of music and I love these 2 guy's review of this song. They hit it right on the head when they said it was all about fun and having a great time! That's exactly what 80s hair/glam metal was all about!
I love this song as a metal head. Gotta respect the glam that was at the forefront of rock and metal at the time. They paved the way for other bands 🤘🏻
Gotta respect this song. Especially since Nikki Sixx wrote this after an overdose. Hence the "kickstart my heart". And the song you guys might be thinking of was Body Talk by Ratt. Also a great song btw.
Rob Jarrett sure there are better songs. I'm a huge Boston fan. But I'm thinking about Ryan and George, and More Than a Feeling is a song that is a great cliffhanger to Boston as well... That's the song I choose for friends that never heard of Boston in their lives. I think Peace of Mind is a great choice for that matter too!
Believe it or not I had a real heart attack at this show in Houston back in 2012. My cardio team told me I was calling out for Tommy Lee in cath lab. lol! My son changed my ring tone on my phone to this song. I'm still alive and the rest is history. Great live show and a fun band!
Tracey... Are you serious? How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? And since this is anonymous... Be honest... Were you on anything, or do you have a history of partying, smoking, drinking, drugging, et cetera? Basically I want to know because I'll be next in line to also croak to Motley because I love Motley and I'm not getting any younger as I cross 40yo.... Thanks for anything you may want to share...
I was 46 at that show. Everybody kept telling me I was too young to have a heart attack, but there it was ... the widow maker. Yes, I smoked and drank (no drugs or hardcore partying) and it finally caught up with my ass. Big wake up to make some lifestyle changes, but I'll never give up my music! I made a Seether show a week after I got out of the hospital. lol! I'm 6 years still ticking! Take care of your body Mick and it will take care of you!
Wow, Tracey... That's so scary to hear what you went through. Only 46! I know 40+ is the general age range, but it's still so young and scary to hear it happen to anyone. One last question...Was it painful?
"Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden... i think you'd respect the story and I would love to hear your reaction. I still remember tracks on a tape I made years ago and 'kickstart my heart's came right before, 'Run to the Hills' and then Aerosmiths 'janies Got a Gun.' was a freaking awesome tape.
Party rock. My band covered a ton of Crue. When we played this song or Girls, the females in the crowd always started jumping and crowded the stage. Quite a few flashed the goods and tossed bras at us. Good times.
Looks like it was "Body Talk" by Ratt that was featured in The Golden Child. You guys should react to some Ratt like "Round And Round" or "Lay It Down".
Mike Hunt Hmmm...I think both Madonna and Michael Jackson have beaten that number by far. When people mention record sales as a measure of how good the music is...it kind of makes a person wonder about one's tastes.
@@manlenai6786 no. I didnt say that. If you want to put words in my mouth, feed m alphabet soup, but don't argue with me. It's pretty easy to understand that more sales = more people like it
Mike Hunt I didn't mean to start an arguement ...but you did say that people wouldn't buy stuff unless it was good. I don't even know how to respond to that. I just don't equate success of an artist or band to thr quality of the music but don't mind me I'm not drunk. I'm just drinking.
Metal elitists exist, but there isn't as many of them as lot of these comments make it seem like. Perhaps they happen to be the most vocal group, but definitely not the majority. Most people who listen to metal don't have a problem with other genres or more commercial metal music, such as Motley Crue.
The songs you guys were talking about - I call them cruising songs :D And the song in the golden child is "body talk" by Ratt 😂 this one was in Talladega Nights (and probably a bunch of other stuff. I think it's been in a commercial).
Worst song ever. This is not metal.
Fucking elitist
Even if it wasn't (which it is) it's an awesome song.

Ahhh, nostalgia....
stormykeep My dad said exactly the same thing, he loved 80s glam stuff because it was all about fun. He hated when grunge was big, too depressing
Grunge/Alternative rock hit when I turned 15, so I've managed to maintain a lot of nostalgia for both. But Glam Metal was pretty uncool in the 90s and that's where a lot of the hate still comes from.
The good ol days!!!
Best comment ever!
To split hairs, they declare somebody dead AFTER trying to revive the person. Like when they stop trying to save him/her.
They gave him a shot of adrenaline to “kickstart” his heart.
Watching people that don't listen to music I listen to religiously makes me happy when the appreciate it the way I do man
Danny M. I know. Their reactions are priceless
Damn right that's a banger!
They make a very good point about how many variations of metal are out there!!! That's what makes metal one of the best styles of music!!!
Glam Metal is awesome, it's that part of Metal that is fun and for groups to enjoy
MadLane agreed. It has its place for sure. Even if it’s not my preference.
Glam is trash
Give a listen to "Live Wire" .. it's on the album "To Fast For Love" ..
No doubt.
It sure as hell is metal. And better than that $#!+ they try to pass off for metal nowadays...
Damn right
100% agree James! Motley Kicks so much ass
James Swanson Ain’t that the truth.
Yes💯
What bands are you referring to?
I saw this Tour back in 1989, Thanks for covering so many different genre's Love your channel Guys
Golden Child movie was Ratt. Song was Body Talk
Eddie Murphy is actually a fan of Ratt. That's why that song was used.
Thank you that was killing me trying to remember what it was
Besides, Golden Child came out a couple years before this album...
Thanks?
Nikki Sixx wrote the song after his heart needed to be kick started due to drug OD.
Wrong
@@Thefalltopics No, Right!
I concur with Tom, how these mofo's are still alive is beyond me
It makes me so happy to see people falling in love with the music i grew up on:) ROCK ON!!!
It's cool to see these guys reactions to songs that I saw and heard during my teenage years....it was great when this song came out on MTV and was a huge hit.
Saw Motley Crue live in 2014, best show I’ve been to by far. Amazing performance.
All music is important so thank you guys for sharing all genres of music 🤘🤘🤘🤘
You guys need to watch THE DIRT on netflix to get a true appreciation for the CRUE
James Ferguson I’d say reading The Dirt would be better first. The movie is so inaccurate for no reason. The movie is fun, though.
James Ferguson or actually listen to them more
James Ferguson read the book.. truly, so much better . The movie did nothing for me . It was rushed , missing so much , and not completely accurate
@@LadyLiberty-zd1nv IT"S A MOVIE,OF COURSE IT WAS RUSHED,SO THE MOVIE IS NOT TOO LONG!YOU ALSO EXPECTED A BIOPIC TO BE COMPLETELY ACCURATE?IT"S A FUCKIN MOVIE.
James Ferguson facts
The song that was in Golden Child movie scene was the band “Ratt” the song name is “Body Talk”. Ratt is an awesome band and was considered to be a rival of Motley Crue.
PRod7544 that’s a great song! Not a Ratt fan but killer tune.
Kind of a poor man's Motley Crue. Out of the cellar and Invasion of your privacy are classics
Yes! And what an awesome song that is!
Yea but Nikki and robbin crosby were really good friends.
Ratt will be playing for free in downtown Vegas along with Sebastian Bach on Sep29.
Heck yeah, Zero Signal!
The 'talk box' was also used by Adam Jones of Tool in the Song 'The Pot'
Jason Troutman and do not forget Joe Walsh with the talk box
They play this song at football games a lot and has been in a couple of commercials. CRUE RULES!!!!!!!!
Played on a Kia Commercial.
Nascarfan 35 "Nikki, if you're alright, say something."
"Something."
Two shots. That scene in Pulp Fiction but the first shot didn't work
...and then hitch-hiked home and shot up more heroin!
Ethan C Ouch.
What is more metal than that.
YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!! YES - ROUNDABOUT!!!
Also every other yes song between 68 - 72
Absolutely!!!! I comment this all the time. Heart of the Sunrise would be awesome too, but Roundabout is iconic.
*Jumps on the get YES reacted to bandwagon* Hey guys! Can I get a little classic Yes up in this bitch?
Mick Mars is the most underrated guitarist of all time. He makes no waves, he just kicks it song after song after song.
Dude ive been saying that, 100%
@@marcweiser8669 Had Crue had any sense, they would have marketed Mars much better than they did.
Another guy that didn't get his due was Malcolm Young. He had just as much ability as his brother, but never looked for the lime light.
My teenage years were spent rockin out to Motley crue!
1234 Crue is one of my dad's favorite bands. My dad introduced me to them when I was in like 7th grade. I'm 20 now. I still rock out to Crue with my dad. Truly a great band!!! \m/
Saw motley crue live in Sydney for the kiss tour. I swear to God! They put on the best show I've ever seen! And tommy lee on the drums 😍😁😍😁😍
Saw them Theater of Pain as well. Great era for the Crue.
I’ll never get to see them live and it makes me so mad😂
I saw them twice on this Dr Feel-good tour when I was in high school. Great show...fun
Mick Mars borrowed the idea for that intro from Montrose’s “Bad Motor Scooter.” Ronnie Montrose was a badass!
Ronnie Fucking Montrose. God i would do anything to go back and see him live . Bad ass guitar with Sammy Hagar lead vocals.
I grew up with this kind of music and I love these 2 guy's review of this song. They hit it right on the head when they said it was all about fun and having a great time! That's exactly what 80s hair/glam metal was all about!
I got a speeding ticket to this song.
#Metoo
If you ain't first your last.
No you didn't, stop making up stories dipshit.
I went faster ✌🏻💨
BMW HP4 best bike I’ve ever owned
No, I didn't. I got away..
Love the commentary at the end, Free Thinkers, you're doing it right :)
And also as a major metalhead, I've never been much into glam/hair metal but this song goes hard
I love this song as a metal head. Gotta respect the glam that was at the forefront of rock and metal at the time. They paved the way for other bands 🤘🏻

Golden Child was a band named Ratt and the song was bodytalk..... The things you remember lol
Joseph Adams if you didn't get to it, I was going to. 😊 Was literally watching that movie an hour ago lol
I was introduce to Ratt by that movie. I asked my parents to buy me the cassette. Wore that thing out, I did.
I like that song with Ratt :)
Out of the cellar was pretty good :)
Need to be honest , that is the only 2 lp i have with Ratt, Invasion and out of the cellar
This is a great rock-n-roll song. Like the guys say - "This is fun". Summer day, cold beer, fast ride, good friends and this song are a perfect mix.
Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame (Live in Tokyo 1984)... BEST VOCAL PERFORMANCE EVER!!!!!
Skid Row, Skid Row, Skid Row!!!! Please, Please, Please!!!!!
Workin' All Night 18 and Life they’d dig
I triple the request for Skid Row. Youth Gone Wild, 18 & Life.
livin on a chain gang
Yes Skid row please please Get the f out
Yes!
It's a solid rock song. All the way from September 1, 1989, "Dr. Feelgood" (album).
people need to have fun and relax with all types of music this very much included my favorite crue song
Gotta respect this song. Especially since Nikki Sixx wrote this after an overdose. Hence the "kickstart my heart". And the song you guys might be thinking of was Body Talk by Ratt. Also a great song btw.
Boston-foreplay/longtime. One of the best rock bands from the 70s and 80s. check them out.
Taylor Riccelli they need to do 'More than a felling' first!
:)
ironcaua no.. That's the typical choice. There are so many better songs on their debut.
Good choice \m/
Best intro ever
N.I.B -Black Sabbath
N.I.B.B.A.
To show you balance, their rock ballad "Home Sweet Home" is a classic that has been covered numerous times.
80s were all about having fun. Hair bands was the shit! I never considered it metal. Rock on guys!!
Believe it or not I had a real heart attack at this show in Houston back in 2012. My cardio team told me I was calling out for Tommy Lee in cath lab. lol! My son changed my ring tone on my phone to this song. I'm still alive and the rest is history. Great live show and a fun band!
Wow!
Just a side effect of us old Metal Heads getting old. We can still rock it though!
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German .... Very true! Good point... Any are good. Lol
Number of the Beast
Party rock. My band covered a ton of Crue. When we played this song or Girls, the females in the crowd always started jumping and crowded the stage. Quite a few flashed the goods and tossed bras at us. Good times.
I love 'Glam' metal!!!!
It's a fun and catchy song. I love it. And this is a song you crank up when you hear it. Good driving song! Thanks again guys!

Looks like it was "Body Talk" by Ratt that was featured in The Golden Child. You guys should react to some Ratt like "Round And Round" or "Lay It Down".
Glad to see you guys dabbling in the 80's party metal scene. Skid Row 18 and Life would be a good one to do next.
Round and Round - Ratt

I love jogging to this song no matter how tired I feel it gives me a literal kickstart to my heart ♥️
I really enjoyed your review and honest reactions to this song. Music comes in all shapes and sizes with "bangers" in every genre.
Hot for teacher Van Halen plz

Yes, Hot for teacher, if only for the opening drum solo

Everyone knows that song. Do Light Up the Sky instead.
These dudes are NBA fans so they'll probably recognize that drum intro lol

Over 100 million records sold. Enough said.
Mike Hunt Hmmm...I think both Madonna and Michael Jackson have beaten that number by far. When people mention record sales as a measure of how good the music is...it kind of makes a person wonder about one's tastes.
@@manlenai6786 when that many people buy music, that's undeniable proof that it's good. People wouldnt buy it if it wasn't good.
Cole Wollner Soooo...by your definition pop music and hip hop is better than metal because it sells more. Anyway, take care!
The songs you guys were talking about - I call them cruising songs :D
And the song in the golden child is "body talk" by Ratt 😂 this one was in Talladega Nights (and probably a bunch of other stuff. I think it's been in a commercial).
