I don’t know if you’ll see this but I want to thank you for this song. I was just a little girl when my dad would play it a lot. My parents dealt with infidelity from each other once. One did it and the other did it out of vengeance and probably a broken heart. They divorced after that, I was 8 years old. But they always loved each other. They couldn’t make it work, but they always, always loved each other and they always let me know that. They were honest with me about those things. They both eventually moved on but I’m not sure my dad ever really got over my mother. She passed away when I was 17 and I know my dad will always have a place in his heart where she used to be that will never be filled. I’m 33 years old now and often when I miss my mother, I play this song. It’s a very sad, haunting song but it reminds me of the love my parents had for each other and for me. So I am really grateful that it exists. Thank you.

All the lyrics are so sharp, so poignant. Even when the heart tugging lyrics of country songs are cheesy, I still love em, but this song manages to avoid the cheese trap. The lyrics go straight to the heart, piercing it in an earnest, authentic manner that's not at all treacly. A truly great song--written, performed and sung beautifully. I'll always love it.

I played in a band that opened for Sawyer Brown in Greensboro, NC in the late 90's. After sound check, I was sitting on stage playing around with this song on my acoustic guitar. One of Sawyer Brown's extra musicians, "Joe", came up and asked me if our band did this song. I said no, I was just messing around with it because I loved the acoustic playing in the song. He says,
well let me show you how Mac plays it. Mac McAnally actually wrote the song. It was an awesome experience as I got a music lesson from a dude that played in the band, who showed
me how the actual songwriter played it. It's one of those moments and memories you never forget. By the way, the version above is excellent!

The Perfect Storm........... Those words, the music and that voice......Whether you've ever went through this or not, they make you feel like you have and that is one of the most rare gifts in the world. To take you out of where you are and transport you to another time and place.

I never grew up listening to nor paying any attention to country music but sometimes it’s all about timing. I found country when the time was right for me. I’m 48 now and got into country in 1993 when I was 21. I was driving and was just in the frame of mind to get lost in a song and the right one came on (All These Years by Sawyer Brown) and it stayed in my ears, my mind, and in my heart for days afterward until I had to buy the CD. That’s how it started for me. I love how country songs paint vivid pictures and that each one is its own story.

My hubby & I knew the song & songwriter.Don't get me wrong, this cover version is truly stunning. Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Bandmate Mac McNally (Lyman Corbitt McNally Jr) is who wrote "All These Years". More than half my life hadn't unfolded, when he wrote this in 92 (I'm 67) We heard another cover besides Sawyer Brown's... But wow they really conveyed this perfectly. The breaks in his voice left me speechless. Gonna save to a playlist, so I'll always have it to hear & remember. To the 33 year old who heard her dad play this record... Their shared love is what makes makes you so very special. Hug your dad for you & for us, one day. 🥲🥰

One of their best. And the video brings a tear to your eye. The chorus applies to more then just a marriage, but to many things in life. “Still I’m here, and so confused. Now I finally see how much I have to lose, all these years.” Those few sentences meant so much to me. Thank you.

Sawyer Brown is not dead nor are the things that we survive in life, the told is a beautiful one and I lived the same story. At one time I thought the response was from one of my children, when you divorce young lady and you really love , it’s usually ego that starts the process and by the time it’s over the two people are perfect matches again and it’s very hard to not see it, other’s get involved and reck the chances of reconciliation so listen from an old man if you do have marriage problems don’t meet others during separation until it’s over, divorced! You will find out that what hurt you in the past won’t even matter to you when you’re older and myself I say everyday the path of leaving is so much worse than any problems I had with my wife, god bless ll that listen to my words you can’t start over at 50 it’s just not the same my wife was beautiful and we had beautiful memories and the woman I’m with now has no idea of me young as I don’t know her as a beautiful young woman and that matters.

The most powerfully affecting song in Sawyer Brown's beautifully maturing artistic catalog. "All these years, what have I done? I made your supper and your daughter and your son..." Wow. Those lyrics cut so deep. Poignantly sung by Mark Miller and exquisitely played by the entire band. Kudos to Mac McAnally for writing such a heartbreaking, stunning tune and trusting SB to do it justice.

I agree 100%. The words are so unique, so haunting. I can't reconcile it, I can't stand 98% of country music. Oh but that 2%, you know which songs I mean. The ones that drive a pile-driver straight to your heart and soul. The cream of the crop, including "All These Years." In fact it's an insult to Sawyer Brown to classify "All These" as country or anything else. There's only one word for it: Masterpiece

Omg I've been here with my x husband yrs ago after 13 yrs of marriage and at 11 yrs of marriage I fnd out I had stage 4 cancer in the middle of our adoption.
    My husband didn't change much.
After the adoption was final that's the day we fnd out my cancer was stage 4.
I went through hell to stay alive I didn't do it for my husband, I did it for my 14 month old son I raised and protected the day he was born..
I was there wen my son was born and I got to bring him home..
    We knew his birth mom..
    And our adoption was easier...
    But I didn't trust my x husband,
Which was my husband at the time with my son he drank to much he had a problem a very bad problem..
I would never allow him to be left alone with my son at all..
Wen I was going through my treatment radiation, chemo, surgery my son was with friends..
    Until I got my devorice..

Some songs seem like they were meant for only one particular artist/group, and that artist takes that song and makes something truly great. This is a perfect example of that. Mac MacAnally wrote an amazing song, with a haunting melody and beautiful lyric, and a story that relates to people. Then Sawyer Brown comes in with Mark's vocals.... pure awesome. I could listen to it all day!
